  1. I think you also have to remember Taylor was on fire the first half of last season. If we can get him back fit and on form for the rest of this season it will make a massive difference. With a club like our (budget wise) you have to rely on two or three big players being fit and on form. We are not like Leeds, Norwich, Charlton who wouldnt miss one or two big players.

  2. I would give the guy at least a season

Lets not forget our good form the begining of last season was down to Taylor and Hughes being in :censored: hot form. Hughes decides he wants to leave/cant be arsed and Taylor has no one one to supply to and we sink fast. This season Pav has not been available/fit for most of the season but scores when fit and Taylor has barely played and when he has played not been fully fit. Lets see what happens when they both come back fully and hopefully Purdie will come in and be decent.

In regards to transfers, yes some havent turned out well but name a manager that hasnt made :censored: signings, im sure Gannon and Allen have made some shockers

Lets also remember what team Penney inherited (Flemming, Lomax, Rubes, Black, Whitts, Taylor, Lewis A, Smalley, O'Grady) . he needed to get 5 or 6 players before we could string together a reasonable starting 11 and we still could do with a few more players.

In regards to tactics, I love how we have so many experts on here that KNOW everything, we should get a few of you on the bench to tell him what to do during games.

Lets give the guy a chance. You can do :censored: with half a season, half a squad to start with and very little money to spend.

  3. Considering he had the same budget as Shez surely what Shez did is the benchmark ?

Does he have the same budget Shez did?

Also, if you are going to compair him to Shez, you need to have a look at the squads they both inherited. They could both have had the same budgets but Shez might not have needed to get as many players in as DP

  4. Oh, behave. They're fully grown adults, not oversensitive children.

What part of that comment was wrong exactly? Just the fact that it was on the record maybe?

Three managers have been in since O'Grady arrived, and he's been out on loan FOUR times in that period. Isn't a bit obvious that none of them fancy him that much, including the one who brought him in (on a fee)? Does he need it spelling out to him or something?

He's a big boy, and football is a game where you need to take the rough with the smooth, the harsh words and the criticism. I really doubt he'll be crying himself to sleep tonight anyhow.

    +1

  5. were u even there?

MOM without a doubt. Greegs and Casper were good too BUT smalley looked threatening all match untill Penney switched him and Parker at 2-0 which subsequently resulted in a downturn in our attacking play. Only man in first half working AND finally looks match-fit after being thrown in cold during november after missing 2 months plus pre-season.

Agreed thought Smalley had a good game.

Didnt really think Stephens did that much (but didnt play badly). I would def give him a run in the team to see how he does.

  6. Maybe I'm wrong then, maybe you're all right. Maybe O'Grady will come back to us, and score 20 goals in the second half of the season to fire us into the playoffs. Based on what I've seen of him though, I think it's unlikely, but who knows? :)

Its worth giving him a run in the team while he's on form. If he does well it all well and good, if he fails off load him.

  7. What utter tosh........... :disappointed:........he linked up play when he got the service........he looked a threat when he got the ball to feet and has a deceptive turn of pace. That is his third game for us after warming the bench at Donny.........although he has not been spellbinding, he has done more than enough to justify inclusion in the side......I mean what other alternatives do we have?

........and after yesterday why the hell are we looking for faults........I'm personally over the moon with the result and would like to build on that and move forward..........lets have a period of feeling content before the next loss please

    Agree

Think he needs a few more games to get a bit more match sharpness then we will really see how good he is. Would like to keep him until the end of the season with a fit Pav next to him and some decent wingers on the pitch (Taylor/Smalley/Purdie? rather than casper/colbeck

  8. I dont think this one has been done (that I can remember).

Pick 11 players and 5 subs that are STILL playing that have been at latics either permanent or on loan

    I will give an example

    GK - Lee Grant

    D - Clint Hill

    D - Fitz Hall

    D - Neil Eardley

    D - :censored:

    M - Chris Taylor

    M - Lee Croft

    M - Richie Wellens

    M - Neil Killkenny

    F - Chris Porter

    F - Pawel Abbot

    Sub - Lee Hughes

    Sub - Sean Gregan

    Sub - Alan Sheehan

    Sub -

    Sub -

Cant think who else at the moment but you get the idea

  9. To be honest, I will be happy if we get a new stadium. Colchesters is looking very good to me at the moment when I look at the state of BP.

Do I want an 15k-20k quarter/half filled stadium or do I want a 10k-12k stadium that doesnt look empty every week but can expand if needed down the line? Option 2 for me all day long.

Do I want an unique designed stadium? Yes but it would be way down the list of priorties. As long as the stadium is functional and we can build addtional reveue generating buildings alongside im happy.

Do I want it to be in Failsworth? No I would rather it built on the current site of BP but thats what happening. Some people feel we have a devine right to a new stadium but yet we dont have a long list of people waiting to build a new stadium for the club and they have deemed Failsworth as the best option.

Im not saying we should blindly follow what the owners are doing, yes we should be challenging them all the way through build but I think too many people on here are focusing on what we are NOT getting instead of what we ARE getting.

  10. I think the club really could do with building links with them both, we just dont have the money to compete with some of the teams in this league.

Look at Brentford who have got that Bostock from spurson loan. Too good for this league.

Its would be great if we could get some quality loanies in like we had with Croft, Lee Grant, Kilkenny
