  1. Ha

Thank Goodness I didn’t post on that thread – I didn’t vote in the poll either as I thought it was a no brainer in Wellens’ favour - but to read people arguing in favour of DW as the better player is; well, Laughable.

Interesting post half way through on Gary Mac too. Players & their relative abilities really do divide opinions don’t they? I really rated Gary Mac but someone described him as ‘gash’ and others agreed. It’s all opinions; but I’d have Macca back here in a flash (and he’s out of contract this summer too!!)

It is now but DW had an excellent start when he joined the club and it was easy to compare the two. Obviously he didnt maintain that level of performance and we all now know that Wellens is better.

At the begining of this season, Liverpool had decent odds for winning the league which now looks laughable considering where they finished.

  2. I honestly cannot see Gray getting the job. The way the club is at the moment (falling attendances) the club will either go for someone that is one of the following

    1. has a good managerial record

    2. Someone that is wanted by the fans (i.e Gannon)

    3. If they are trying a unproven manager they will go with someone with a good reputation with the fans (i.e an ex player).

I just dont think they would have sacked DP to then appoint Gray.

  3. I wondered where I had heard that name before I would take him tomorrow he was a man mountain and he had abit of recovery pace an all he won everything.

Man of the match for me was Paul Black who looked very composed on the ball won alot of tackles got forward well and his distribution was excellent too plus he scored a screamer can't ask for anything more in a left back really.

I thought black was pretty poor today bar the goal. Made quite a few mistakes at the back.

  4. I thought Greegs, Lee, Whitts and Stephens were decent today. Taylor, Parker, Brill (for the second goal) and Jacobson were piss poor. The rest were meh.

Liked the look of the two young lads that came on.

  5. I think its a fair discussion and I think its more about value over price. I think a lot of people (myself included) are not seeing any value in that matchday price at the moment. Prevously, if was able to get to a Latics game I would go without a second thought whereas now I just dont see it as an enjoyable experiance. I personally dont enjoy a matchday as much as I once did. I dont feel any less love for Latics as I once did and the current position in the league doesnt put me off going, i'm just dont feel any value in it any more.

For me the two main reasons are the loss of the Lookers stand (It just doesnt feel right sitting in any other stand) and the style of play. I think previously when we were more of an attacking side I would enjoy the game win, lose or draw where as now the enjoyment seems to only come when we win.

  6. Just looking at the remaining fixtures for the season and our next three games are tough ones but then in March we have six games all of which are winable, followed by a mixed bag of good and bad teams in April, I think March will be the difference between a respectable top half finish and a relegation scrap.

    Thoughts?

  7. For me the main problem is communication (lack of it) Barry could be doing a great job but none of us know whats actually going on and when someone asks a question its not answered. A bit more open communication between TTA, Barry and the fans and I think people would have a lot more respect for them.

I must say i've just read the other thread which Barry created and it just didnt come across as professional from Barry. He needs to think why fans are aggreaved and think how he can resolve these issues rather than going on the defensive.

  8. His fault - his budget is comparable to Sheridan's (who managed to do considerably better in every respect, even when he had comparable injuries in 2007/2008).

I'll bet Sheridan's squad actually worked out cheaper for TTA when you consider the money being lost at the gate this season.

Shez had a full squad to start with though Penney didnt

  9. I disagree. Yes there's a lot of rubbish that's been brought in. A heck of a lot. But with Taylor, Abbott, Morrow and Gregan you have the basis of a decent side. Certainly one that should be performing better than this one is. A fresh manager should make a difference.

A decent keeper, centre forward and change of tactics could save us.

but Taylor and Abbott have been out so basically DP has had two decent players.

From that list, I cant really see any of them doing a better job with the team we have with perhaps the exception of Gannon.

  10. Sky sports

Huddersfield Town are lining up a loan move for Preston's Neal Trotman, skysports.com understands.

The promising defender spent the first half of the season on loan at Southampton and impressed on the South Coast.

Trotman joined Preston from Oldham in January 2008 after just 18 starts for the Latics, but his time at Deepdale was interrupted last season by a serious injury.

Preston are keen for him to gain experience of first-team football and it seems unlikely new boss Darren Ferguson will stand in his way of a further loan switch.

Huddersfield are right in the mix for a promotion tilt in League One and see Trotman as an ideal addition to their ranks.

During his stint at St Mary's the centre-half made 18 starts and scored twice.
