  1. Whoever the manager is needs to fit into our framework and way of playing, not just given carte blanche to do what they want, sign who they want.
  2. Whoever chooses them, chooses them. We need to find an identity, a way of playing and sign players accordingly.
  3. Every goal counts. Penalties pad out a record. Hope that helps.
  4. The worry for me is that we seem to have given Mellon and Brabin the keys to the castle and moved away from what we were trying to do with a head coach and head of recruitment - you can question the quality of player and the staff brought in but the idea itself was the right one IMO So when the inevitable sacking happens we are going to be left with a load of players on the wrong side of 30 who the next manager probably isn't going to like the look of.
  5. Good point you make there, McAlney used to crack them in from all distances, we could do with one like him.
  6. Well we'd be about 8-9 goals worse off, hardly a deal breaker.
  7. Take away the penalties and it will be what, 12-13 goals? Commendable seems a strong word.
  8. Gonna end up finishing 9th with a striker earning 5k a week, epic fail.
  9. So the expectation in August was that we'd be happy with 17 goals by Easter? Which goal/s has he scored that made you think, blimey that was good? How many games has he really stood out in, dragged his team along in?
  10. His best days are behind him and we aren't going to create the chances he apparently needs under Mellon so I think it would be worth putting his wages to an alternative use.
  11. Think we have to bear in mind that that was five years ago now, would be unfair to expect him to be the same player.
  12. Fair enough I guess. But the style isn't going to radically change so is it worth looking at a different type of forward and using the wages to strengthen elsewhere?
  13. If he is so much better than the level as plenty suggest than I'd have hoping for around 2 in 3 as a minimum.
  14. I haven't got a narrative, I said, in my opinion of course, that his goal returns and performances have been disappointing relative to the investment made in him.
  15. Think we won 3 out of 5 in his absence, 0 in 5 since. Makes you think.
  16. He hasn't scored from open play this calendar year, one can only imagine the amount of stick Nuttall would be receiving in the same instance.
  17. I see plenty of penalties, I don't see a guy who is suddenly going to double his numbers next season.
  18. He hasn't given us the numbers you'd expect for the outlay, he doesn't score goals out of the ordinary, his performances have generally been underwhelming.
  19. Or just get a couple who aren't totally reliant on service and walk around with a face like a slapped arse.
  20. Hopefully someone like a Macclesfield might be daft enough to take Norwood, get two strikers in with those wages.
  21. I know penalties still count and all that but he's barely scraped into double figures from open play, a poor return for the investment made.
