  1. O'Grady? Please! He's garbage and we are well shut of him. Blackman showed more promise on Saturday than O'Grady ever did here.
  2. Sounds daft but I backed Norwich for the title half hoping that Gunn would be sacked early. He had a pretty shocking record overall and probably only kept the job as long as he did because he's a legend there. Boothroyd or Robins for the job.
  3. I've already had a bit of the Evens we finish above Trampmere - i think things could go sour for them very quickly with those two in charge.
  4. What's everyone's predictions for the season? For me Norwich are a cracking bet for the title - gonna be very tough to beat especially at home a la Leicester and in Whaley I reckon they've got the best player in the league. Throw in Holt and Hoolahan as well and they look a good side. Leeds will be up there if Beckford stays, might struggle for promotion again if he doesn't. Huddersfield have bought a very good player in Jordan Rhodes, he'll get a sackful of goals for them. Bristol Rovers would be my dark horses, got loads of goals in them and if they tighten up at the back they could go well. Down the bottom Stockport look really up against it, Yeovil haven't improved and Wycombe limped to promotion last season haven't really bought anyone of note. Trampmere might also struggle, sold most of their best players and the management look out of their depth to me. And as for us? I think we can again push for the play-offs but wouldn't be surprised to see Taylor on his way if we're off the pace come January.
  5. Eardley sold to a Championship club. Trotman in on loan until January. Byfield signed on 1 year deal. No sources, just a hunch.
  6. Was in RRE last season but might have a look at the Main Stand lower this time, prefer the side-on view personally
  7. Leeds, Tranmere and Blackpool for me. Not all that keen on Burnley either.
  8. Hopefully there's something in the Trotman loan move that was rumoured a few weeks ago. Him and Gregan looked a good pairing in the few games they started together.
  9. Probably makes sense signing him really in terms of the new Champions League English/British quota rules. They also need a new shirt 'unit' shifter after selling Ronaldo and losing Tevez.
  10. Taggart knows Tevez isn't worth £25m, I am sure he could find it if he really wanted to. Did they not bid the £25.5m trigger clause? Think it's fair to say that Man Ure wanted to keep him but Joorabchian saw what City were willing to pay in wages and 'persuaded' his man to go there instead. I'm sure Tevez would have stayed if the decision was down to him.
  11. Abbott has taken the number 9 shirt which I would suggest means Hughes won't be re-signing. Not saying we can't re-sign in spite of that but given that the Home shirt will be the same as last season, would have thought Abbott would have been given number 10 or another number if keeping Hughes was on the agenda.
  12. I'd have Parker here in a shot. He's a cocky little bugger but i'd rather he was our cocky little bugger than a League One rivals!
  13. Looked pretty decent in the games I saw him play, wouldn't have minded him here on a permanent basis. But I don't think he was that keen on living 'oop North so no surprise to see him sign for someone down there.
  14. For me we can't be thinking of having Flintoff bat at 6 - he's shown next to no form with the bat even when fit for quite a while. I'd pick him as a bowler and have him come in at 8. Providing everyone is fit my team for the 1st test would be Strauss Cook Bopara Pietersen Bell Collingwood Prior Flintoff Broad Swann Anderson Plenty of depth to the batting and the 5th bowler duties could be shared between Collingwood, Bopara and Pietersen.
  15. Heard a rumour - mate works for a long time sponsor within the club - that these two are on Penney's radar as potental signings. Anyone any views positive/negative on this? For me Holt would fit the bill nicely for Left back and I wouldn't be against Hughes coming back. Same guy reckons that Abbott is more likely to sign for Huddersfield than us but that may in turn lead to us signing Jevons.
  16. Anyone remember that game when Grimsby beat us 3-0 at BP? Think it was in 97 and a young John Oster ripped us apart - that player would be a great signing! Pretty sure that was Sharps last game as manager as well.
  17. Yeah he'd my first choice - pretty unlucky to get the sack at Ipswich IMO. Think Gary Speed will make a very good manager one day but think TTA may want someone with experience. Sammy McIlroy could fit the bill - good local and non-league knowledge, may be able to pick up some gems lurking in the Blue Sqaure Premier etc
  18. Always rated Pawel Abbott from his Huddersfield days - had his injury problems but a good player at our level when he's at it. Thought the centre half Miller looked decent as well.
  19. That chance he missed at Carlisle a couple of years ago will leave long in the memory!
  20. Ability would be the main reason - can't picture O'Grady scoring a hat-trick in the manner Lewi did against Scunny somehow. In the games i've seen O'Grady play he hasn't even been nuisance value.
  21. Thought Constantine did ok for us in his time here - was a bit disappointed we didn't look at making it permanent. Had a nice touch and an eye for goal and I reckon him and Hughes could have made a good partnership as well. Same with Jarrett - he brought good energy to the midfield - something we're badly lacking.
  22. I'm no Alessandra fan but i think he's twice the player O'Grady is. Why Shez actually paid a fee for him I'll never know.
  23. Anyone notice how he hasn't been on the telly since he left us? Couldn't stay off the thing while he was here
