  1. Not going to home friendlies but will be at : Barrow, Silsden or Northwich (undecided), Preston (res) Mossley, New Mills, Ashton United, Rhyl, and Liverpool (cup).

Anyone else bothering with reserves & youth games. I find them more interesting than the usual first team friendlies.

I will be havin more or less all of them

but i will be going to every home game ! After all that is were the club will make some money before the season starts and that is what they need right now.

  2. Think there are too many school bullies that come out of the woodwork when RoyalArmy post!

It doesnt take a genuis to undertand his posts and understand he may have had help in class. No offense but I dont think he is winding anyone up just trying to join in debates.

There are many 'special' posters on here, some for many different reasons ! For this reason I think the mods or what ever people call them do ok !

He as some good points, its just the way he says it !

O'grady didn't leave for a free, he is in Fitness First Rochdale most days, ask him !

:censored: on the other hand, its boring now he didnt play because he lost the plot and ended up in Warrington trying to do a Hulk mash on nights out.

Another player who as lost his way, quality player but not all there

  3. Newton originally became involved with Athletic through his professional relationship with Simon Corney's Tel Aviv-based cousin Neil.

But friction behind the scenes led to him tendering his resignation at Boundary Park in the aftermath of the last-day 2-0 home defeat by Charlton Athletic.

“I have done my best to sort out issues and have worked hard for the club and am disappointed I can’t take my involvement further," Newton said at the time.

This is from the Oldham Chronicle : Reporter: MATTHEW CHAMBERS

    Date online: 22/06/2010

  4. That's rubbish...we had 10 players injured in November going into December and couldn't get any games or training done to get any of them fit. Yes Pav had complications but to say not getting games and pitch time for any of them wasn't a massive effect, is ludicrous and saying it was just Pav and Taylor is nothing short of a lie...Smalley, JJ, Worthington were all 1st teamers and in the same boat. There's 5 first teamers to start with. Settled side??? Don't think it was possible once last season.

The team played the clubs best eleven only a few times granted. Pav and Taylor both had long term injuries they were rushed back which effected their game and ability

Smalley in Sept had the possibility of retiring which thankfully for him was not the case but Smalley played from his first game back for 90 mins in a lot of games instead of being gradually introduced to increase his fitness. Smalley only played to his potentional a few times last season

JJ, Worthington and Purdie all had pre existing conditions before they came to the club.

Penney either didnt do his homework on them or allowed them (or maybe forced) them to train?

I know for sure that two players complained about the fitness conditioning.

Playing with injury or returning from injury to early was a massive problem.

We had players on the bench who could have covered for the players injured last season. :censored: and Blackman to say two who could have played in the positions of Smalley and Tails to allow them more time to come back.

How many players had the same type of injury last season? Too many thats the answer,

  5. How interesting...why does this only apply to Pav though...why not the other 9 or 10 players who were also injured during October and November after a decent enough 1st 2 months...this is what particularly fecks me right off about last season and the nature of our lot to turn on the manager. Those words from Pav could've come out of many of the mouths of those who were playing survival football. Shame it cost someone their job though.....anyway......

    1. No other player had the complication Pav had
    2. Only Taylor and Pav were advised not to play or train when they did, Penney played them to try to save his job
    3. Pav had extreme complications during his operations, Pav nearly lost more than his footballing career
    4. Fans turned on the manager for many reasons, it wasn't just getting players to train when injured.

I have seen on the chronicle web site that many at the club thought Penney was hard working, that maybe the case but you can work hard and not do the job right

IMO for PAV to only now be able to push himself to full training shows how badly he was advised by his ex manager.

  6. Sorry if this as been mentioned already. Why is the clubs site now so crap?

I can understand all the advertsing but stories of ex players moving clubs, ex players doing so well since they left the club is a bit like a kick in the teeth for fans seeing as many of the players were unfit for us while at the club on loan.

There are loads of spelling mistakes, and the pictures and stories seem out of sync when you load the pages with picture too big for the page etc.

Chris Grady is still on the player profiles along with a good few ex players who have left months ago.

On the main page you cant even see the club name and club logo as the page tags are to high towards the banner.

    Anyone else notices this ?

  7. I'd imagine Dickov would have come out and denied media reports if it isn't him (even though he was on holiday)

Plus.... does anyone know if Frankie Bunn has been on holiday in the last couple of weeks?

Why would the club deny the reports? It basically gets the club into the national press, but not for a bad reason.

Also, Bunn does also have a lot of contacts, probably more than Dickov to be fair.

Had a txt earlier off an EX who is a Rep currently working in Malta - Dickov was waiting for a car at Malta Airport today ! Maybe just Maybe

Ex is a MASSIVE City Fan and adored Dickov and asked if he was next Oldham Manager ! Reply was just a smile !

If Dickov not signed anything yet would the club want to realise his name? Club looks bad enough without getting bitten on the arse by Dickov getting a better offer at the 11th Hour before signing !!!! Would increase his bargining power when sorting his contract out if he had already been named without signing first ?

  8. hes our best central midfielder by far. he must sit on that bench at times thinkin why am i here

I thought it was common knowledge that :censored: has had off the field personal problems thats effected his game and for that reason he's not played?

I know something was mentioned around New Year on here about him having a few issues.

  9. That's not the point though is it?

Owners signing players cos they share the same religion then the manager getting the s**t when they turn out to be crap, is. Especially when Penney could have brought in players for those positions of infinitely better quality, (like Sheehan.)

And I object to my club being used as a coaching facility for a bunch of substandard Hungarians when those places could and should have been taken by youth players in this area.

    Very good point!

Maybe that is why the club cant let Penney go because the players are poor when it was the so called MD sorry Director of Football who brought the players to the club???

    Unfair dismissal surely ??

Also on this point - Maybe the players shez didnt play were brought in above his head?
