  1. I'll be renewing... The people who come to watch Oldham and other clubs similar to ours, non-season ticket holders as well, are the real die-hards of football fans in this country, because we SUPPORT our football club. We aren't the tourists that infest Old Trafford every week, yes the football isn't good at the moment, but I will give DD at least one transfer window to see if things improve. I am a ST holder in the North Stand and feel just as let down as everybody else about the 'Grand Opening'. As for the calamitous year we've had; Chedgate, Tattoo bogging-off to Barnsley (which doesn't look a bad thing looking at their position), managerial (PowerPoint) appointments and the general PR of the club has been, at times, laughable, but out of our control. Trawling round some other forums over recent seasons, Tranmere, Blackpool, Barnsley and Leeds to name but a few, makes me absolutely euphoric. The board seem to be shambling about like the zombie hoards in The Walking Dead, but could I ever see the day that I'll stop supporting Latics, Nah
  2. I wonder if these two institutions are related; OEC - Oldham Event Centre OEC - Oldham Evening Chronicle Both could come under the same 'Rarely Wrong' heading!
  3. It says in the Chronicle that Royton-based PJR Windows had a party of 16 arrive and were told not to send their taxi's away. The company's Noel Mahon said "I spoke to the club at 4pm that day and they didn't mention anything and said they were looking forward to seeing us". He was told they could come back on another date, to which he replied, "I don't think so".
  4. I always found it odd that anyone who wants to play football 'the right way' would put POMO or Position Of Maximum Opportunity on their presentation. It was the brainchild of Charles Hughes, born in 1929, who coached England between 1964 and 1974. It was criticised for being a 'long ball' type of game, because he believed a goal should be scored in 3 passes or fewer by getting the ball into a POMO as quickly as possible. Unless they just pinched the phrase, because it looks good on a PowerPoint presentation.
  5. Just phoned the club and they are opening the stand. 1200 capacity opens at 13:45. They are releasing a statement on the fishul site.
  6. Substitute the picture of their stand for ours and the pictures of their players for ours. http://www.scienceandfootball.com/Uploads/sf-presentation---lee-johnson--nathan-winderpdf.pdf Just noticed the link only works if you copy & paste it into your browser's address bar, don't know if I did anything wrong!
  7. ...for cheering me up by attending that dreadful performance at Walsall. I couldn't quite read what it said on the cover of your "100 day plan" binder, but I assume it was Oldham Athletic FC crossed out and Barnsley FC written in. I was wondering who it was at first until you turned round and I saw "Judas" written on your back. The pages, which had "This is all Bull:censored:" written on them, in your 100 plan was a nice touch and your reaction of waving money at the abuse from the fans summed him up nicely. It would've been perfect if you'd have had someone in a kilt wearing a collar and on a dog lead.
  8. Does anyone think a 100 day plan has gone in the post to Sunderland and/or Millwall?
  9. Keegan's Statement:- In a statement released through the LMA, Keegan confirmed he had quit - citing the fact he did not have the control he wanted over club affairs. "I've been working desperately hard to find a way forward with the directors, but sadly that has not proved possible," he said. "It's my opinion that a manager must have the right to manage and that clubs should not impose upon any manager any player that he does not want. "It remains my fervent wish to see Newcastle United do well in the future and I feel incredibly sorry for the players, staff and most importantly the supporters. "I have been left with no choice other than to leave." Shearer's too involved in media work, anyway he wont work under these restrictions, what manager would?
  10. Yep, it's official - who do you think'll be the next manager? I reckon Steve Bruce, after all he is a Geordie, but then again who's going to want to work with that poison dwarf Dennis Wise. There's going to have to be a re-think about him, can you imagine if they appoint Wise as manager, the fans would burn the place down, I'm off on their sites to see what's been said.
  11. Burnley were the better team last night against the side/formation we put out, last season we lost by the same score and didn't deserve to, last night we did, if we'd have played the same team and formation as we used in the previous games in the season so far then who knows what would've happened, but we didn't so we'll never know.
  12. I was all for the change in personel last night, but not necessarily the change in formation. Paterson made a huge difference to Burnley and a lot of championship defences are going to struggle to contain him. I've not been overly impressed with Kevin Maher yet, and last night some players were a bit unsure of their jobs, having Maher, Allott and Whitaker in midfield seemed to be a bit overcrowded. As for the Eardley debate, well everyone thought he was a top class player in his first season, and yes his distribution has been poor, but he's still young and he's far from the finished product. I don't suppose for a minute he's happy with his form at the moment - in an ideal world we should be backing him not getting on his back, but for some reason some fans need a player to target and blame everything on them. IMHO Sheridan made mistakes last night, both with the formation and leaving it too late to change it, but he gets applauded and fans chanted his name, Lee Hughes should've scored, but gets hero worshipped, Chris Taylor's shooting (amongst others) was well off but he (and the others) got encouraged to keep trying, yet Eardley's mistakes are singled out for special treatment.
  13. We beat Man. City 3-2 goals from Ryan Brooke, Dean Smalley and JP Kalala, 3-0 up at half-time and City got 2 goals in the last 10 minutes or so.
  14. Hello Chickers, how's your tailfeathers hanging mate? Thanks for the info and to whoever moved me to the right forum, need to explore this site a bit more yet.
  15. I run Norton Internet Security (I know it's not a lot of people's cup of tea, but I've never had a problem) and not so long ago I added PC Tools spyware doctor. Everything worked well for a long time, but now although Spyware Doctor picks any up 'infections' I can't access the problem because of a PC Tools GUI problem, I've sent emails but they don't reply, so I'm thinking of dumping it and finding some other spyware detector, so (1) Do I need the extra protection, (2)If so can anyone recommend one. Thanks in advance. DT
  16. Thanks Richie, Hi Bob, heard your messages announced over the last few games as for the IQ of 150, well we'll need another 149 like me then. I was sat next to Sully at the Leeds game and he still managed to moan, but then again it wouldn't be Sully if he didn't, as you well know.
