  1. Don't think anyone is traveling up for this one ........... trains are silly silly prices

If anyone is going I'll be on the 10:53 train (going back to oldham anyway after the match so it is but a small detour). If not I'll carry the burden of representing oasis alone. I shall have to drink twice as much as normal!

  2. The Vine is your best bet. Not the greatest pub in the world but always fill of Latics fans.

Also, if you are hungry, go to the Chinese take away just round the corner from the Vine and order sausage chips and gravy. It is genuinely the greatest sausage chips and gravy in the world. It looks expensive when you see it on the menu but I promise that you won't be disappointed!

    Cheers fella. Will be there!

  3. Im thinking of writing a letter to AH and asking him if i can take something from the old lookers stand before they demolish it as sort of memorabilia, it would probably mean nothing now, but would be pretty good in years to come as a "remember this" collectable.

The seats me and my dad have sat in since 1989 would look good in my back garden i reckon.

  4. a pre-match drink?

Not made it to Vale before and I think my attendence may be enough to lift the curse.. or maybe not. Where's decent to get a drink before the match? Football ground guide website recommends the vine. Is it any good? Planning to get train to stoke then a taxi.

  5. Kyle, I suggest that you concentrate your efforts on trying to get rid of Shez, rather than scarmongering in an apparent attempt to undermine the Club's stability.

Not wishing to be doom and gloom but is there anything in the planning consent to stop the new lookers and the flats etc being built and then an announcement being made about there being no money for the other two stands.... Just to put the cat among the pigeons.

In fact would this be the worst thing in the world?.... When (if) the government repeal the ban on standing they can rip the seats out of the chaddy, charge less, improve the atmosphere, attendence would go up and everybody's happy.

  6. I watched this interview with gerard houllier, and he doesnt like managers taking over straight from playing, they need to learn under a man of experience, he said:

"in any other business you wouldnt get one of your bog standard workers to go straight into management of your company, but you do in football, they need to work under men who have acheived as manager, learn as a coach, then they can do great things."

I think shez was took on too early, I believe we should offer to keep him as a coach, aswell as tommy, and get a manager in who has won trophies, and has a proven record, i dont mean a million years ago, but possibly in late 90s or better (I say late 90s, because if they have acheived anything after that they probably wont come to us)

You mean like we did with Joe Royle?

Sheridan is learning all the time and we should stick with him. Changing manager every few seasons hasn't exactly done us brilliantly recently.

  7. From BBC website:

me and my brother and a few mates got in contact with roger a few weeks before christmas and we arranged to meet him and his girlfriend for a few beers so off we went to the designated pub and low and behold the man turned up he looked brilliant we sat and talked for hours from 8.00 till gone 12.30 he could not belive that people held him with so much regared we remembered goals he had scored and all the great games he played in we keep in regular contact and he has promised he will come to a home game with us we all had photos done and i gave one to gordon at boundary park and he put it in the latics programme and it was also in the royton rag and oldham rag

Is this true? i don't remember seeing it.

  8. It reminds me of a few years ago when Chris Moore was here and we apparantly tried to sign Jason MacAteer. Alan Hardy was quoted in the chron as saying something along the lines of, "Well we've left a few messages on his answering machine over the last few days and we're still waiting for him to get back to us" Doesn't desparately fill me with confidence.

  9. Excellent post, sounds like a good day was had by all (well all Latics fans anyway).

Yes definitely wish I could have come down. Every time I go to the New Den though we seem to lose. Think it was 5 nil on one particularly memorable occasion. So was probably for the best that I didn't go.
