We shouldn’t be actively looking to sell him, because he’s contributed more goals than I thought he would and he’s also been impressive holding the ball up and bringing others into play when I’ve seen him. But I do think if we get a good offer, we should consider it. My fear with Davies is that he’s never been a guy that is a consistent goal scorer in his career, he has peaks and troughs, and I still think he’s quite a poor finisher tbh, and I worry that he’ll go off the boil, especially if Doyle doesn’t return.

In his first season with us he had about the same amount of goals by Jan, but only scored 2 or 3 in the second half of the season, and that’s when he had blistering pace too.

He was injured in February and didn’t play again that season wgen on 14 goals

Interestingly enough (and I am not saying I'm right and you're wrong), but I have heard via another player and a mutual friend of KB's that he is not too keen on coming back here...

I’m of the impression. He’ll do what city think is best for his development

  3. tbf a loanee that’s played a part in a team that’s overachieved at the top of the league should draw interest. Their position is strengthened by their league position.

We live a hand to mouth existence at the bottom end of the league meaning our business is usually last minute once we know who’s in and who’s out. Our position will be strengthened by the Clarke and Davies interest and the small fees involved although Clarke may be a loan. We’re pushing for Bury to take over his contract.

our biggest issue is we have a chairman that won’t plan more than 6 months in advance. If we had any sense it was clear at the end of October we’d have competition you’d like to think we’d be negotiating extensions.

For what it’s worth my brother is an academy coach at City and Bryan wants to come back, City are happy with his it’s gone but need to decide on steady progress here or moving up to the championship. Decision should be soon.

  4. Dickov it was Butler’s fault, LJ it was Holden, Wright has been slagged off now its Terry and Jewell!

bollocks! We’ve been found out, teams press us hard we struggle to break them down - that and losing Doyle has hit us hard. We’re a poor to average football team. We won a few and people got carried away.

17th awaits - unless we cut out the individual errors, stop poncing about,  shoot on sight and do phenomenal business in the window...

    Anyway. Back to this.

So, not enough cash? As in the buyer isn’t offering enough?  So after the inevitable proof of funds, lengthy negotiations, legal expenses and football league approval we only now decide the offer isn’t enough?

As Ive said moveable goal posts from Corney this is why everything takes forever. Lemsagem was there today

  6. It should be Clarke at Chesterfield 2/3’s of a season’s stress just let out in the pandemonium of an injury time winner that turned out season.

But for me it has to be Erwin’s late winner against Bolton - not only the importance of it but for the reason I was sat back in my usual seat in the Chaddy End. It was only a week after dad died an emotional day had the perfect ending and to be sat where we shared so many Saturday afternoons over 31 years is something that will stay with me forever.

I just sat there before and after the game simply reminiscing it meant the world to win that game. Truly it didn’t matter but somehow to win the game showed me that Latics could still be special even without dad...
