  1. On the bench for me. Let's not forget he's still a young lad so no need to write him off just yet. He's certainly got potential. Reminds me of Dale Stephens a little bit, who needed a loan spell at a lower club before progressing.

Bit silly to suggest he should start because its "his turn" or because of who his dad is though.

The selection is a no brainer - Wes and Smith.

  2. They all need game time. I'm not sure what Mellor and Winchester's best positions are (let LJ worry about that) but I'd rather see Mellor at left back than Plummer, who doesn't look any better.

Game time at left back, even if its not his preferred position, will be beneficial. Can loaning clubs include a "must play" clause in loan deals?

  3. The original poster has compelled me to write an email to Simon Corney on the subject of the Rochdale Road end.

Does anyone know if his email address is available? Or if there's anyone who you can email on his behalf?

I might be mistaken but didn't they put this out to "consultation" a few years ago and fans didn't want to move because the Chaddy is the traditional home end?

We should switch ends. The only benefit to having away fans in the RRE is that we can cash in if there's a large number of them (e.g. Liverpool). We could always revert for large cup games.

  4. I voted Philliskirk, but honourable mentions for Rodgers and JCH, and dare I say it even Dayton! Rare off day for Grounds, I'm glad that happened in the cup against a poor side rather than the league

I also voted Philliskirk bug agree Dayton deserves a mention. He was involved in a lot of our forward play and took his goal well. Good performance.

  5. Top performance from Philli. He's not the footballer Baxter was but if he keeps it up he could well prove to be more effective in our team at this level.

Rodgers I thought he had an ok game. Certainly a tidy footballer but I didn't notice him very much in the first half. Only when we had an extra man did he have the space he needed.

He reminds me of Dale Stephens a bit (though not at that level yet).

  6. On a simplistic level, i thought this government was trying to cut the number of custodial sentances (cost-cutting dressed up as liberal thinking). Yet here we have someone who, although he undoubtedly deserves to be punshed, is going to prison for at least 8 weeks over a comparatively low level fraud case. How much has it cost to put him up at Her Majesty's pleasure?

It's a bit over the top. That old couple in Salford who held a young deaf and dumb girl as a slave for 10 years got 13 and 5 years. I know they're old, but ffs what they did was obscene beyond belief. i mean, 5 years!!!! I'm not comparing the cases, but pointing out that sometimes sentancing is a little bizzare.

A quick google reveals the average cost of keeping a prisoner inside is £35-40k. So assuming he serves 8 weeks, the cost is approx £5-6k.

  7. I was certainly disappointed with a point today. Based on their performance this afternoon, Leyton Orient are more likely to be this season's Tranmere than this season's Yeovil (comparing to last season).

Rooney is being unfairly criticised - we stopped playing football after he came on and used him as a target man. That being said, Charlie McDonald and Danny Philliskirk look to be a good pairing.

Dayton I thought was excellent, especially in the first half. Agree with all the praise for Wes - superb and should have had the MoM.
