Agree re the loaning out of our younger players. Dale Stephens is a great example of it working well for us.

I think one of the 12 (makes them sound like disciples that!) who attended the LJ Q&A session said SC confirmed Smith would be off to a Championship club in summer for 4x the money.

I do still have doubts but to be honest, whoever we brought in at this stage was going to be a gamble - LJ certainly seems to have his head screwed on and is a more inspiring choice than the other names mentioned (Brown, Ternant, Kuqi).

The problem is that we've got a team largely made up of loanees and players who are out of contract. They don't give a :censored: because their agents are telling them they won't be at BP next season anyway.

They should give a :censored: because even if they're on their way, their asking price will drop a lot with a relegation on their CV. I'm not sure they're clever enough to realise that.

Football at our level has become so short-termist and mercenary. Yesterday demonstrated that only too clearly and it was as bad as anything I've seen under PD or even DP.
