  1. I was going to request Allan Smart vs Brentford in 01/02 but realised I have the highlights myself:

The magic begins at 02:10. What a cracker of a game - http://espnfc.com/ma...d=23436&cc=5739

I remember Allan Smart being :censored: but those highlights make him look like a legend. His first goal is one of the best I've seen at BP, what a run and finish!

  2. Not saying I wouldn't.

But with the E Street band? Not sure.

Then again, he could probably do something sensational with them / it.

Yea, just listen to recent, "rockier" versions of Atlantic City, Open All Night and Johnny 99.

Reason to Believe was a standout for me on the '07 indoor tour.

Most casual fans I imagine would be streaming for the toilets/bar though.

  3. Friends Arena is a brilliant stadium and decent for concerts with the roof closed.

Solna is the hardest place on the planet to find a parking space. Bastards.

Bruce is getting lazy, a mere 2 hours 53 minutes tonight. Although that did include the entire Darkness On The Edge Of Town album.

Sounded like a decent show from the reports. Be interesting to see whether he continues the full album thing in Finland on Tuesday.

I'd prefer he didn't but could see him doing BITUSA at Wembley.

Not sure he'll top the 2 full album shows I saw in New York in 2009 though!

  4. Done this drive meself and must back up what it's saying, On arrival to Applecross it was pissing down and the midges were so severe that we couldn't get back into the car fast enough

Yea it would be pretty miserable and treacherous in the rain. We were really lucky - clear blue skies and great views across to Skye from Applecross.

  5. Scotland is stunning. A pre-season tour up there would tempt me.

I can never understand why more people don't visit there given its so close. The West Coast and highlands are awesome and the drive to Applecross remains one of the most epic I've been on (not that you'd get the team bus up it).

  6. £542 to get three of us to Stockholm in two weeks!

I think my trip is probably better value at 4.5p per mile! Bloody hell, that actually makes it seem cheap.

I'll be very jealous though - got to wait until June before the Bruce stalking starts at Wembley.

  7. I'll be happy with a confident Cisak as number 1 next season but the decision to release Bouzy seems odd - he can't have been on big money and if LJ favoured Cisak, surely he'd have played him more?

Wouldn't surprise me if Cisak moved on and we end up with new GKs all round next year.

  8. New shirt's proven me wrong, I'd thought and hoped (for the sake of those who bought a shirt in the last year) that the current home kit would stay for another 12 months.

Blacks - now there's a sponsor I can get excited about; perhaps the club can negotiate an exclusive discount for fans and I can get some cheap outdoor gear!

  9. It doesn't really matter who's fault it actually is, but we might as well be aware of it. It is not Corney's fault that Oldham Athletic find themselves where they are now. It's the fault of the FA, Sky and the Premier League. The FA were shown the shiny stuff and literally fell over themselves to abandon grass roots football. If you really want to moan at someone for the fact we're perpetually :censored:ed, moan at them.

Yep, and PL clubs are about to receive a 70% increase in income from TV rights. The PL also threatened to withdraw the tiny solidarity payments to the Football League if clubs didn't vote in favour of the EPPP scheme which limits the transfer fees lower league clubs can command when selling young players to PL clubs.

Armchair football fans are funding the slow demise of lower league football.

  10. I've taken my 8 year old grandson to most home games this season and, apart from the enjoyment we've both had, the positives have gone much further.

His reading skills have improved as he now wants to read every word of the programme, the website and anything in the press about Latics.

He now spends a lot less time on computer games and T.V. Most of his spare time is spent outside playing football.

His maths and stats skills have improved by learning how the league tables work.

Walking back from school with his Mum after breaking up for the Christmas holiday he said "You know what mum, this has been the best year of my life!" When she asked why, he replied "It's the year I discovered football"

Without the £10 season ticket none of this would not have happened.

For that, Mr. Corney, I say a big THANK YOU.

Great post that - email it to the club!

I've no idea of the figures in terms of whether the scheme breaks even but in getting young fans through the door and improving the atmosphere in BP, its been a success.

I know others have mentioned this but to link the £10 ST with the pitch invasion is ludicrous - it happens every year. No doubt the club will use it as an excuse if they do decide to pull/not renew the scheme.

  11. Baxter - his goals and assists have been vital and he's been (mostly) great to watch. I think he's the most gifted (though not necessarily the most effective) player I've seen here in the last 10-15 years.

Grounds and Croft have both been immense but my rationale for choosing Baxter is trying to picture where'd we'd be in the table without any one of those players. I think we'd be further down the league without Baxter than we would without Croft or Grounds.
