  1. I know it's mean and not very nice, but it is :censored: hilarious!

I like the tune as well. Lends itself very well to football chant, and lends itself to Rueben Hazell in particular. surely one of you funny youngsters can come up with a tune for Rubes in time for Saturday to celebrate his new contract?

I'm not lyrically blessed, but all I can think of is Na Na Na Na etc.................Reuben Hazell, Oldham's Centre Half.

  2. 800 went on saturday for a good day out and hoping we got at least a point, each and everyone of them was behind the team.be totally different this saturday because we are at home, and being at home means the knobrots who cant be bothered going away games will have to have something to say to justify there visit to the game, even if we win.

what he needs is a bit of conviction and confidence and those who play in front of him to perform as well, and not leaving him isolated from time to time.

good time for him to show what he is capable of now, lomax is out the firing line and rightly so,but you just know the first stray pass will be greeted by groans and the usual shyte spouted again.

Tell me, Ed, do you go to away games?

  3. It was Alan Parry (commentated on loads of our Littlewoods Cup escapades) and Gary Birtles I think. At one point, after Fryatt missed another shot from tight angle with other players waiting for a pass, they had a bit off a fall out! I thought Birtles was pretty good. Parry was same as he was 20 years ago...

Birtles was incensed by the decision to give a free kick against Smalley when he was shielding the ball in the corner.

    "That's well out of order!"

  4. leeds on sky and jermaine beckford has just clocked the millwall keeper with a cracking elbow. now if the f.a have any guts they will pull him for that and give him a 3 match ban just like wright-phillips has been given, beckfords offence is much worse

if the law is right , he will not be turning out at boundary park.....scum

He got booked for it, didn't he?

    Therefore, the FA can't act.

  5. If Bell was injured would you look to the next keeper down? Under 16's maybe?

Anyway, Windass isn't good enough for 45 minutes, and from what I've seen of Bell (last season I admit) neither is he. Shez agrees, so what is your problem?? He obviously isn't our 3rd choice keeper.....first team wise we only have 2 keepers. If Bell played and was well out of his depth, as Shez believes he would be, you would be the first on here lambasting him for not getting a loanee.

I do agree that, good enough or not, he might as well have been on the bench as he is hopefully better than Deano! I think it was you who made the point that Kieron Lee was never going to get on before Liddell and Whittaker which is fair comment.

I just pray we don't end up with Richard O Donnell again.

  6. Apologies if there is a thread already about his performance.

For me that that was his best game in an Oldham shirt... sadly marred by the penalty which his mistake led to.

The rest of the players were not bad either

I am far from his biggest fan, but he was outstanding yesterday. He didn't let the mistake get to him, either.

  7. Darren Beckford when he went in goal for an injured Paul Gerrard in April '96 v Wolves at BP. Did as well as Windass did last night but that was 11 v 11 and it was US that missed a pen. Creaney....the cretin!

I was only 8 or 9 when that game took place so my memory is a bit hazy about that, but I was sure Beckford hardly had anything to do.

  8. Bet the neutrals loved the match last neet - the MK Dons fan that came watchin it certainly did - can anyone remember an emergency keeper playin so well? Brill atmos, great sprirt, faultless displays (Maher's header exception) - absolutely buzzed off it - well done Tics players fans n all!

Phil Jagielka went in net for Sheffield United a few years back when Paddy Kenny got injured, and they beat Arsenal 1-0. Not sure how long he played in net, but I think it was a considerable period of time.

  9. Gone for Windass purely on the positive vibe he gave the rest of the team. He did ok first half with his link up play if you care to have another look.

Also not giving the lad stick but Allots mis hit that put Cleverley in was only a shade better than Mahers. Both played well and subdued difficult opposition

In Allott's defence, the ball just deflected off him into the path of Cleverley. Him and Maher were fantastic, first to every loose ball.

  10. I want to bring everyone back down to earth a little after reading what I have read.

No doubt when circumstances are considered it was a very well earnt point, but it could and should have been a whole lot better.

We had several really good chances which should have been buried tonight, and were the better team for long periods of the game against a very ordinary looking side and apparently that is what they are - they just have that 90 minute plus attitude that gets them out of jail and a consistency to grind out 3 rather than one point.

Doubtlessly we didn't get the rub of the green, but the three points were there for the taking, Hughes had several opportunities, Lewis had a golden one if he had not choked completely. Seeing the game live I thought that our penalty shout was 50-50 at best, Taylor made a meal of a fairly innocuous tackle, if he was caught or not it was difficult to tell from the stands.

Applying a reasonable rationale it is a great point away from home at the league leaders, but other than the last quarter of the first half I thought we were the more inventive and creative team and with a little more 'cool' about our play we could and should have come away with three points.

MoM?? I thought half our team were unexeptional today whilst the other half covered themselves in glory due to the fact that we had to work 1/11ths harder per man to get what we got. This doesn't take into account a shocking collective from the officials. At times we were playing 13 and 14.

Smalley, Hughes, Greegs, Allot and Hazell stand up and take a bow chaps, sterling work from you all.

The rest, well just ordinary but good enough to match a very ordinary opposition.

    Derek.

Bloody Hell, Wilson, even I think you're overreacting - they were class yesterday. Every last one of them.

  11. Only because you've gotta vote for a single player, I'm going for Eardley.

I thought he was absolutely outstanding tonight, especially with his recent performances/pressure of replacing Lomax. Brilliant display.

I was struggling on who to choose, so I did an "Ip Dip Doo", and came up with Hazell.

  12. The other day I offered to miss the Northampton game so that me and the good lady wife can spend valentine's together and go out for lunch and a walk and whatever. I fully expected her to say 'don't worry about it, we'll go out in the evening instead', whilst proving to her that she was more important than the latics. To my total dismay, she thought it was a great idea. To make things worse, I found out yesterday that the Bristol Rovers game has been re-arranged for the 24th, which is our 6 month wedding anniversary and I'd already arranged a meal and whatever.

Anyone else having to miss the game next Saturday because of valentine's? Or am I the only one under the thumb? Shall I put my foot down, go to the game and risk an almight row? Especially if we play like we did in the last home game, maybe I should be grateful for an excuse not to go...

Go out in the evening. Put your foot down. Be a man. Your heart wouldn't be in it if you went for a walk on Saturday afternoon instead of watching the match.

And as for your wife being more important than Latics...................You What??!!!

  13. Like Windass who you have slated for weeks but no doubt are accolading now ?

Ernie is the spirit of the fans, the passion of what we want to achieve. How when sometimes we are not the best we can still win or come form behind all odds to get a result

    Ernie 4 England

Find the posts in which I have been slating Windass then. Because I don't recall saying anything negative about him.
