  1. Official app running story McCoy's looking for "The Real Football McCoy"! Well we know who it isn't. Conned, betrayed my faith. Had genuine affection & belief, and backed him to the hilt. Gutted.
  2. Well said Alan. Nice bloke who has tried his best for us, without whom we might not be here. Thanks Simon, do not let them drive you out. The silent majority of people I know also appreciate and thank you .
  3. This was a fear of mine, when a friend of mine very high up at City expressed the concern Simon( who he considered a really nice man) might just walk away due to all the mither. If this is true, thanks a lot to those who gave him grief or threats.
  4. Pine, of course it's sad, that threats to staff and their families and possibly sponsors have influenced a decision. That's not how a civilised society works. Perhaps we should cow tow to ISIS or Al Qaeda.
  5. Infact I'm livid. People (on both sides) have behaved abhorrently if these threat stories are true.
  6. It's sad if bullies threatening staff and their families have caused a decision , whatever the decision. If you can't see that, I despair.
  7. Sad day for Oldham and England. The MOB rule. Who denied the mob mentality if this is true.
  8. Yep, no matter what Barry does it appears he will be slated on here. I have no involvement with him or much knowledge. Iin his interview he came across as someone who'd been trying to help sort this out for the last few days, considerately updating the media & not ignoring them or the fact they've been stood around in the cold all this time. The gesture to inform them directly of new updates to save them hanging around came across as another considerate gesture. So what if he didn't wear a suit, in his casual clothes I thought it looked more real than the pretentious pontifications of some PR trained chimp in a posh suit. Had enough of this slagging off of Simon too. His interview with the Jewish Chronicle came across very well and is probably a wiser choice than the hysterical British gutter press.
  9. Zorro, I'm not implying you are, I never would, just respecting differing views and wanting us to stick & work together for our club. Joel, Read it again I didnt say he was just inferred in some similar (ie not exactly the same) situations kiss n tell stories end up in the media for financial reward. However If it is found to be a miscarriage then he may well be one. everything is black and white to a degree. No offence to anyone, it's not easy discussing on a board much better one to one over a civil pint. Wishing you all the best.
  10. Joel, read the pharmacokinetics expert about alcohol levels and times with respect to consciousness etc. you might change Ched's middle names.
  11. Yes my knee jerk reaction re Ched was how most people would think of a rapist and certainly would never want such a person anywhere near Latics. Since Latics have become embroiled in the circus I started to look into all aspects of the issue. I would never condone such behaviour that was admitted did occur & it repulses me, consequently until all comes out in the wash,& we get to know the true character CE is I don't think I will wildly cheer or chant his name. I will attend & support our club, because this club needs our support when times are good and especially when under pressure like now. I will cheer for Latics if he scores & politely nod, or clap Ched if he scores, nothing more, out of respect for supporters who don't believe we should have signed him. Out of respect for people who think he is a rapist. Out of respect for the girl involved and what she has been subjected to since. I was going to use the word victim but I'm not because im not 100% sure she was at the time. Infact in similar situations some could argue the person in Ched's shoes was the victim, both possibly intended at the time and consequently in light of what he has gone through. It's tricky. Anyway on reflection of the information available I have a major doubt in my mind the conviction was correct. Consequently from a more informed position I have changed my opinion and am quite comfortable with Ched Evans playing for us, until I see otherwise. I hope SC and LJ & others at the club do not get hounded out by people I think have looked at the situation from a hysterical, knee jerk point of view. I respect others who disagree but I will support Simon & Lee because I believe in them, their intentions and thank them for the obvious effort and hard work they have done since joining, in helping stabilise & turning round Oldham Athletic and giving me hope again. I firmly believe they have the best interest of our club at heart. I respect others who disagree, with politeness and not hysteria; and hopefully vice versa can be said. So let's ALL get behind Lee Johnson, Simon Corney and OUR club, work together, stand together and weather this difficult storm together in camaraderie if not singing from the same hymn sheet. Do not desert your club. Please.
  12. Unfortunately a significant percentage of "normal" men & women are thick. Infact 50% of the population have a below average IQ.
  13. Is it true she was seen with both men entering the room? Is it true she didn't appear that drunk on cctv footage? Is it true she text a friend & what did she say? Is it true she said/communicated to a friend she would benefit financially? Is it true she tried to extort money from Ched Evans? Is it true she has similar previous with 2 rugby players & what were those circumstances? Is it true an expert said she would have been capable of consenting with the alcohol in her system? If these allegations are true is it possible CE is more the victim? These are the questions that make me doubt the safety of the conviction. I don't know if these allegations are true, but it makes me wonder what was included in court & not. Having seen British justice close at hand I am not convinced in anyway of its infallibility.
  14. As I said to S,C Lee is the best signing he has ever made. I said that 18 mth ago to him and still stand by SC & LJ.
  15. Despite my previous post & opinion that we should sign him after reviewing the available evidence and certain doubts about the case against him, (with obvious concerns for the girl involved & the effect on her life; innocent or guilty of accusations she elicited it) I had hoped the management had also researched & talked to Ched/PFA & come to the same conclusion I have (with even more evidence/ questions answered & discussions with Ched). That there is doubt in anyone's mind means we should not prejudge and therefore sign him,or, if you believe our criminal justice system is infallible then he has served that systems sentence & is a free man. However, if it's a choice of Lee or Ched for us it is Lee every time for me. He is our manager, our leader, is passionate and has stabilised & resurrected our club/ team. Plus he speaks sense and is a nice character to boot. Lee might think the furore is not worth it & I can understand that view with the hysteria this evokes. I would have liked (if that's the correct phrase) Ched to sign with Lee's consent minus the media/public whipping up a frenzy. If it is not Lee's wish then I, as always will back him 100%.
  16. Is Salem in Oldham? Oh it is. Mob mentality at its most dangerous. Read the Spectator link . The Mail link with video statement and look into the actual case. Too many DOUBTS in my mind. Being convicted does NOT mean it's the right decision, it's just some people's opinion & unfortunately jury's reflect society, which as can be witnessed on here mob mentality prevails. Luckily it's not the 17th Century or I suspect Ched Evans would have already been lynched, which considering the case is being reviewed is something to reflect upon.
  17. Need a quick answer. Who was Keith Hicks centre half partner? Tia
