BU used to signify registered in the Oldham area.
It's embarrassing to admit, but over here in Ireland when I was a kid me and my dad used to beep the car horn and wave any time we saw a BU reg car... sometimes I still do!
No doubt people thought we were completely mad.

Signed four players in this window to be fair...
And one of them put in the worst performance BP’s ever seen.
Doesn’t bode well to say the least.

Forget about the window - some of our lot need to be shown the door.

Only seen Vera for 45 minutes, worst I've ever seen and that's saying something over 59 years.
I'd be looking on Clayton playing fields for better.
Cripes... that doesn't sound good!

"Oldham Evening Chronicle now understanding that an announcement could be made shortly after the trip to Milton Keynes Dons on Tuesday night (29th January)."
"Oldham Evening Chronicle has contacted the club regarding the appointment of Paul Scholes, but we are yet to receive a response."
So one media partner has briefed the other and said "don't quote us on that because it could all go arseways any second..."
Time will tell, I suppose.

I've low expectations that come from a lifetime of supporting Latics and my personality, I suppose. I didn't expect much of a cup run - I never really do. It's a bonus when it happens.
But I'm of the basic opinion that an owner meddling in team matters is not a good thing, short term or long term.
At best I don't think it's good for the club - at worst I think it's very bad for the club. And could cost us the chance of having Scholes at the helm for however long he sticks it out.
-
To paraphrase the thread title - we're out of the FA Cup and lame in League Two because AL meddles with the likes of Wild in team selection and Scholes won't like that.

Mike Keegan says Scholes will take it if he is confident that the Lemsagam brothers won't meddle in team affairs ....
That's the end of that so!

I genuinely believe he'd take us to the Championship within 5 seasons. Very well respected, lots of contacts, great coach and an intelligent man.
If he was doing that well with us he’d be gone to a bigger club within two of those seasons.

Fucking hell where do we go from here.
17th in League Two I’d wager.

Simon Grayson on TalkSport at the moment - I'd have him in heartbeat once the Scholes things falls through or once Scholes is sacked or leaves....
The notion of starting up a “next manager after the next one?” thread on this forum isn’t as barmy as I’d like to think...

If he does want to be a manager (I don't know if he does) surely this is his only opportunity to get into it.....?
Won’t he surely, at the very least, be on Latics’ shortlist again next time the hot seat’s vacant?
-
I’ve gone with Scholes.
In the distant past I’d have been excited at the prospect. But as things are now I’m not enthusiastic about who gets it as I fully expect them to be gone within six months anyway. In Scholes’ case possibly sooner.
Wild’s a top bloke but I wouldn’t want him to get it for his sake. His day for a big job will come. Possibly elsewhere.
I don’t know much about Askey.
So at the very least with Scholes we’ll have a more interesting second half of the season.
I predict that sooner rather than later he’ll leave. Pete will step in again as caretaker. Our owner will admit mistakes were made. Some will hope or presume he’ll learn from them but he won’t. League two pergatory becomes the new League one pergatory. We have a bit of FA Cup success in five years time. And continue to sign players whose names I struggle to pronounce.
And “slowly slowly” will continue to be the new “keep the faith”.
I’ll still always love Latics though. I’ve been resigned to that for decades now!
-
I’ll be surprised if he lasts to the end of the season.
But at the very least it’s going to be interesting.
-
I wasn’t expecting this - to put it mildly.
Now what odds that he’ll last more than six months?
-
Isn’t this just how bookies try to kick a bit of life into a bet that people are bored with?

Glad someone said it. My ifollow subscription might get used more now. Stopped watching most of the pre/post match interviews. Same questions most weeks. Never anything remotely eye-opening. And don't forget, simply must mention the fans every time. Never quizzed/grilled a manager once and over the past couple of seasons of utter shite, at a time when they needed quizzing. Stuart Vose led by example when he used to do the job. Never scared to ask that uncomfortable question when it called for it. I hope whoever takes it on has it in them to do so.
What if they're told they'll be sacked if they ask uncomfortable questions?
-
I hate the term "media partners" - basically it means that the media involved will throw a blind eye on anything the club want them to throw a blind eye on.
-
Sam's been great - best of luck to him.
-
Fine work - very impressive.
-
Bollix to that.
