  1. Rusnak?

Seriously, a player who thinks he is too good to play for the reserves?

Lee Johnson did exactly the right thing with that pathetic excuse of a footballer - he had no divine right to be in the team, he needed to earn his place. The deluded little wretch showed no balls and instead threw his toys out of the pram - that shows you the type of individual he is and exactly what Oldham Athletic do not need in the club.

Keeping hold of Rusnak would have destroyed the team, damaged greatly LJs reputation and level of respect from his own players.

city's job is to do the right thing for Man City; LJs is to do the right thing for Oldham Athletic and binning Rusnak off was the right thing for Oldham Athletic; probably also City's as they could see what sort of individual the boy has become. Hopefully he will learn a lesson and be better for this and listen to Viera who also believed Johnson was right as he made the self-important youth apologise.

  2. I've had to vote No.

Any decent youth we got would be snapped up by the big boys for peanuts. Why should we pay to develop youth players to benefit the Premiership. Most of their youth players don't make it anyway, and drop down the leagues. Let them pay for youth development for our benefit.

If we kept the youth system, then we would have to play then whether they were good enough or not, like Crewe do, and would have to suffer relegations when there was no transfer money coming in. It's a huge gamble which would condemn us to lower league football for ever.

I would like all the people who have voted Yes, to really think of the possible consequences.

Is this the same Crewe that are are 11th in the table and 3 points outside of the playoff zone?

You are right al_bro I have thought about the point you made and still vote yes as right now Crewe are in a far better position than we are.

Also if you think right now we are going to be any better off than we are currently are by scrapping the youth team then you are very deluded - we are rotting in lower league football because we get a paltry income from gate receipts it has nothing to do with the youth team (aside from having clueless managers).

  3. Folly to scrap the youth team, if you don't invest in training then the lifeblood of you business is cut off.

Look at the current squad of 26 players and the number who are from Latics youth team

Namely: Tarkowski; Millar; Hughes; Winchester ; Belzika; Sutherland; Mellor; Cooper

SO from that 26, 8 are from our youth set up - so 30% of the current squad would not be available under this proposal.

From the money saved you are not going to fill that gap in the squad.

To go on about return of investment being just about selling players on to other clubs for large amounts is misleading, as the return on investment is the saving of wages when your team has the likes of Chris Taylor, Paul Black, Marc Tierney etc. in the 1st team.

Just because some don't step up to the grade like Ryan Brooke is the nature of the business, there is no guarantee that this is the case either with pro's brought in - in recent times you only have to look at the likes of Marsh-Brown to see that, and getting rid of these players is more expensive that getting rid of youngsters that don't fulfill their potential.

Look at the last games team

4 of the 7 subs were from the youth team

It is down to the coaching and management to utilise the youth players and develop them.

I would rather the likes of Connor Hughes or Chris Sutherland be given the chance instead of Montano, who has been attrocious in the recent games he has played.

    So I am keeper

  4. I fear for us after watching us play this season.

After over 30 years of watching the Latics I have to say this is the most depressing.

Luckily I have my season ticket so I will be seeing it through as I have already forked out my hard earned cash.

We sure need inspiration from somewhere otherwise it will be a long relegation season :bigcry:

  5. What games are they up to now; it might be just me, but I can't remember the website advertising when new packs were available.

Are they just in the club shop or can you get them fromthe programme sellers - I know my kids lover the starter pack and woudl love to get more but I haven't seen any adverstised/visually prominent.

If more are available then I will go get some more for the kids.

  6. All this ranting and raving about an 18 year old who has achieved nothing.

However the club cannot complain aobut it as they have created the situation by overhyping the lad in the first place to the fans and then going down the predictable route of sold for an undisclosed fee, which is their standard practice.

If the Eaves money goes into funding TP and his youth set-up in order to produce more Tom Eaves, Danny Philliskirks, Scott Spencers then superb - as we benefit as a club from having Paul Black, Chris Taylor, Dean Smalley, Ryan Brooke, Djeny Bembo etc. in the team when we cannot afford to buy players or have a team full of experienced pros.

If people really thought for one minute we were suddenly gonig to be flush with cash from this sale to allow us to go and get a number of tried and tested players they are delusional and need to move forward from the 1990s when we were a club with premier money or even worse with Moore money.

Whatever the fee was, it doesn't matter, the club got the best deal they could, PD knows what his budget is and in the end the current team matters and how PD gets them performing. The cash we get from the team performing and getting more supporters through the gates on a saturday will make the difference in the Eaves money people are getting so wound up about insignificant.

  7. Barry really what was the point of posting such a provocative message?

If you are so easily upset by things posted on a messageboard then maybe you should just stop reading it, it will do wonders for your blood pressure and get rid of your sense of paranoia.

The messages posted on here are by a vocal few and you take this as your straw poll of what the fans are feeling/planning - maybe you need to read the positive ones as well as the select few negative ones you seem to have homed in on.

The owners should be more concered about the falling crowds and understand why - though it doesn't take a genius to work out why; given Simon Corney has already voiced his opinion after the Tranmere game.

I don't know you, the trust etc and so I have no axe to grind; I am not one of the regular posters on here though I read the board regularly; so my comments are nothing other than from a regular latics fan. Also maybe you would be appreciated a little more if your only visible appearances were to slag of the supporters whom are the people you should be encouraging more to come through the turnstiles. Your general negative attitude is not encouraging for the casual or regular fans - try and use the carrot rather than the stick it works a hell of a lot better.
