  1. Yes. Won't be quite singing his name just yet but I'm willing to give him the chance (Its childish but it still stings how he left in the summer, regardless what went on). Even though we are relatively better off points-to-saftey wise it will be just as tough a job for him as i think this squad probably needs some extra quality than what he brought in last time.

  2. Never mind yer OWTBs and yer Twittererers. Who is here from the original pre Rivals JKLatics (maybe geocities or something like that?!) around late 90s? I was only around 14 and used to sneak on by convincing the old man I needed to use the PC for homework and be on it all night posting barely legible opinions on all things Latics.

Those care free days when it took about 5 mins to dial up to an Internet message board that looked like fuzzy felt and any tom dick and Harry (mainly dicks) could rock on from other clubs message board without the need to register for some high quality debate. I remember one City fan around 1999 consistently trolling us before trolling was even a thing, and then we went and beat them. Lovely stuff!

Yeah i used to use JKLatics (didnt post much mind, like now really). Only thing I miss from there is the more frequent interactions with other teams fans than we get now. In some ways i'm thankful for it as there was a lot of trolls but still there was the odd decent one.

  3. FAO: MARK MOISELEY

I emailed you with an idea on day 1 of you being at Latics. You replied saying you agreed and would look to getting it sorted.

3 main routes surrounding the Boundary Park area

Get this new £15 admission price plastered up on lampposts, sandwich boards, signposts...put the word out to thousands of passers by daily!

    YOU'VE GOT NO EXCUSE!

Couldn't agree more. Great offer but it needs to be advertised really well. Not just on the OS, social media or the odd mention in the Chron where its likely only to be seen by those who already have that interest in Latics and already go. Find a couple of spaces round town for some physical reminders. Get some leaflets made up and distributed all over Oldham.

  4. He had a spell as joint caretaker manager with David Eyres in 03-04 after Dowie jumped ship. I think he also helped Billy Urmson prepare the team after Ritchie was sacked but I wouldn't really count this as a 'spell in charge'.

Ah cheers. Yeah I dont think id count either to be honest but thats just splitting hairs.

  5. Bit off topic but I noticed under a picture of Shez it says he has managed the club over 4 different spells. Im not aware of any more times other than when he took over after Moore and his most recent spell. What other two times has he managed us?

  6.

Baxter's return was :censored:ing dreadful. Scored 4, missed 3. Why did he get allowed to take any more after that dreadful Paneka effort against I-can't-remember-who?

Bournemouth I think. As much as loved him I wanted to kill him for that penalty (all forgiven like a few weeks later). Not just for the dross effort but also that he attempted it. Not just in the context of the match but also the season as we made our usual slide down the league to what looked potential relegation.

Heh, good point. But I'm pretty sure not many would argue that the Dutch produce a higher proportion individually skillful players from a population of around 17 million than England does from a population of around 53 million.

I felt a little wrong joking but thought you'd see the humour in it. But I agree and would also add over the next 50 years if both countries carry on with their respective attitudes then Holland are likely to reach more tournaments/semis and finals than what England will.

Agree with the sentiments of others though. We need our next manager to not be a yes man/there to pick up a cheque (or both).

  8. And if we want to see development like Iceland, or the Dutch, it will take a lot of time, effort and money. To quote from another forum:

The same Dutch who failed to qualify for Euro 2016? ? Sorry I couldn't resist. I agree with the post though we need more facilities like this. I wonder though how much is funded purely from the Dutch FA coffers and if there is any government contribution?

Adding to this point I'm also worried now that with such an abject exit from the tournament momentum will begin to pick up for the introduction of "B" teams into the league.
