  1. This is where the game is getting overly sanitised these days, tribal hatred is part of the game's appeal. OK, so it's channelled in different ways it seems (not all donkey jackets and snooker balls in socks) but holding grudges is what turns a decent atmosphere into an electric atmosphere. That and a last minute winner against hated rivals always helps.

I half hope something happens in our game against Rochdale to spark a new bubbling rivalry off. No, not someone getting killed or a pub getting trashed, something to spark it on the pitch. Chris O'Grady to break Taylor's leg in a rash challenge or suchlike. We need that game where you look forward to every season with trepidation along with a hint of anxiety to make you feel real again.

    That's quality J.

As for C**y, biggest bunch of t**ts on the planet, full stop.

  2. Rochdale Football Club, Spotland Stadium, Sandy Lane, Rochdale, OL11 5DR.

Away supporters are housed in the Willbutts Lane Stand (recently renamed the Westrose Leisure Stand). There is space for 3,200 of us and the acoustics are excellent, so there is no excuse for not making ourselves heard.

    Disabled Facilities:

There are two parking areas in front of the Main Stand and behind Pearl Street Stand for up to 21 cars. The away fans’ allocation should be booked in advance. Level access throughout.

There are 28 wheelchair places for away fans in the Pre-Fit Windows (Willbutts Lane) Stand. All positions are at pitch level with helpers alongside. (Movement by fans at pitchside can restrict views at times.) Two adapted toilets in the stand; catering not dedicated - ask steward for assistance.

    How to get there:

    By Road:

Exit the M62 at Junction 20 and take the A627(M) towards Rochdale. At the end of the A627(M) you should be in the left hand lane to turn left at the traffic lights. Go straight on over the roundabout (approach in the middle lane) into Roch Valley Way. At the next crossroads (where the Cemetery pub is on the corner) go straight onto Sandy Lane, and the stadium is on the right after approx 0.75 mile.

    By Rail/Bus:

Rochdale Station is around 3 miles from Spotland. Take a taxi from the station or catch the No.436 bus which travels from the bus station to Spotland via the railway station.

On foot immediately as you leave the station there is a roundabout in front of you. Cross it, keeping to the left and take the second left into Lower Tweedale Street. Follow this street until its end where it meets Manchester Road. Turn right along Manchester Road (which is a dual-carriageway). Pass Drake Street and then cross the Manchester Road via the pedestrian crossing. Now the left hand side of the dual carriageway, carry on in the same direction as before. Turn left into Dane Street (where you will see a large ASDA store) and this leads into Mellor Street (A6060). At the end of Mellor Street turn left along Spotland Road (A680) and then left again into Willbutts Lane for the stadium.

    Car Parking:

I am indebted to Rocky_Latic for his local knowledge in my preparation of this information.

At the stadium is now for permit holders only, so it is a case of either street parking (side streets around the ground fill up very quickly and space is very much limited) or using the matchday parking facility at Oulder Hill School, although it is not known whether this will be available for this match. The school is located on the way up to the stadium, on the left hand side, along Sandy Lane (it is then a 10 minute walk uphill to the ground). If you do elect to park on the street then be wary of the ‘residents only’ parking scheme, as otherwise you could end with a parking ticket for your trouble.

WARNING: Be vigilant in parking your car on Spotland estate (near the shops - you can't miss it) as over the last 3 years it has had a growing reputation for cars being damaged. The latest incident was against Hartlepool this season, as reported in the local newspaper. Fans had "Dale" keyed onto their car bonnets and wind-mirrors were broken.

Most cars for this type of game will be parked on Sandy Lane itself and and down by the Cemetery. Cars should be safer if parked further up Sandy Lane and on the opposite side of Edenfield Road. This also makes more sense, especially if you want to get away quickly, as Roch Valley way, which most Latics fans will take, is chaotic on a normal matchday (the traffic light system is not favourable to traffic going up and down Roch Valley Way). It's easier to park there then exit either down by Asda or through Falinge.

Another alternative is, if you fancy a drink in the town centre, park at the Town Hall and use the pay and display or you can chance parking on Asda and walking up.

    Where to eat:

There is a fish and chip shop on Willbutts Lane, usually with lengthy queues.

Pies and pasties are available inside the stadium.

Where to drink, subject to Police restrictions for this long-awaited contest:

I am also indebted to Rocky_Latic for his local knowledge in my preparation of this information.

There are three drinking venues at the stadium. Two of them, Studds and the Dale Bar, will be for home fans only, but the Radcliffe Arms, located at the car park entrance on Sandy Lane, will welcome away fans. It has Sky TV and disabled facilities, and children are allowed on matchdays.

Inside the stadium alcohol is available, although it is cans poured into plastic glasses.

    Local Pubs:

A few minutes from the ground in Willbutts Lane is the Church Inn which is used to away fans on match days. It has a pool table but is only a small pub so it will fill up quickly and may take a while to be served.

Close to Sandy Lane, at 470 Bury Road, is the Cemetery Hotel. It serves a range of real ales and rolls at the bar in the evening. Plenty of home fans use it, and it is said to have a very friendly relaxed atmosphere. Parking may prove difficult here.

A short way along the road at No. 520 is the Dog and Partridge.

The Merry Monk, 234 College Road is a Victorian-era locals pub with an out-door drinking area and its own car park. Three varieties of Hyde’s ales are usually on the pumps, along with a guest beer or two.

The Healey Hotel, 172 Shawclough Road is about a mile and a half from the stadium on the B6377. Traditional terrace pub with three rooms.

The Albion freehouse and bistro, 600 Whitworth Road is a multi-roomed local with home cooked food.

Alternatively, head into the town centre on "The Esplanades", where there are plenty of bars. The Litten Tree stopped letting people in for the cup game at 6pm for the League Cup game against Latics. Next to the Litten Tree is the Flying Horse, which serves real ale.

The best real ale pub in the town centre is the Baum on Todd Lane.

    http://www.thebaum.co.uk/about.html

The Baum is on Toad Lane DS, next to the Co-Op Museum.

Re-assuringinly, it was nice to see that Taylor is becoming what I predicted he would become. He must be the biggest tart in the whole of the football league. How anyone would have thought he may have been worth a million quid is beyond me. No manager in the league would give more than two shiny buttons for him now surely?

    HnF,

    Derek.

2? You are generous. Must be going soft in your old age.

Maybe Pukka. But it is still good to see I have an eye for a bad 'un.

  4. Nowt to see there that will convince me that regularly visiting the decrepit pit that is BP is a worthwhile use of my time. My first visit since the Trannies game when I walked at half time about 9 months ago. All style, no substance.

    HnF,

    Derek.

  5. How much of a fan would you consider yourself?

Lapsed to the point of almost total dis-interest. Hated every minute of being present at BP since the Lookers went and as such haven't attended since January when I walked at half time. I was at Exeter but cant really remember it, my friend beer, had taken over my mind.

Do you think there are certain things a Latics fan should never do?

Like C**y in any way, shape or form. Same goes for L***s.

How do you react after a defeat?

Err, like I am bothered. Not been bothered for years, it's not like we shouldn't be used to it.

Whats the most important thing about the matchday experience the result or the day in general?

Beers and a laugh. Everything else including the match, is a sideshow.

If you were given £1,000,000 would you go and support your main rivals?

Do we have rivals??? I'm not too sure.

There isn't enough money on the planet that would make me feel anything but utter contempt and hatred for those blue * from down the road though.

Do you have a Latics tattoo?

Luckily, considering my present state of mind about OAFC, no.

  6. Further to my previous mail Derek. You tread on very dangerous ground with you mention of offences Hughes was never charged with.

    Barry

Fleeing the scene of an accident and causing death by dangerous driving?

Maybe I am just imagining it?

And btw, why have you got such a cob on with me at the minute? You don't usually come on here unless you want something, but this is the second time in 2 weeks you have felt the need to cast aspersions on my character.

You know I will happily get involved in a bunfight with you, and at the end of the day it won't be me that suffers. I am just a lapsed fan now, I have absolutely nothing to lose.

  7. You can always rely on Derek Wilson to add class comments on the site. Talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

Its a pity that your loyalty to the club was clouded by one signing. I suspect that you had other reasons also but you chose to use the signing as a scapegoat.

It a pity that you, of all people, feel able to pass moral judgement on an individual.

    Barry

No matter how good, bad or indifferent a thing I may have done in my life Barry, nothing will ever compare to that which Lee Hughes did.

Now, are you suggesting that I deliberately drove whilst apparently under the influence of alcohol and/ or other substances then careered into another motor vehicle, causing the death of a passenger then fled the scene of an accident?

That would be really naughty of me wouldn't it? Especially as I don't have a driving licence.

Don't ever dare to compare me to Lee Hughes Gods Cop.

You need to get your tongue out of his backside.

Also, as fans representative (ha!) don't you think that perhaps you shouldn't be posting petty asides because someone slated your golden boy? Am I not one of those that the club wants to win back?

  8. Completely disillusioned with the whole thing.

It's boring, the grounds is a wreck, the facilities are on a par with said wrecked ground, the atmosphere is bad and at times downright nasty, the football (said in the loosest sense of the word) is shockingly poor, the players don't look like they give a toss; the fans are treated like moronic cash cows, forever being asked to dig deeper and on and on and on.

I will do a couple of home games and a couple of aways, but that'll be it for me.

    Derek.

  9. Just watched Barrys interview and one thing really concerns me about it.

Were the trust not set up as a fans body to flag these issues when they were arising?

Barry has admitted in his interview that there was prior knowledge of the departures of Gazal and Blitz.

What measures had been put in place by the trust to help in safeguarding the club from a potentially disastrous situation?

What else is being done by the trust other than asking the usual suspects to dig deeper? Are there any new initiatives to raise money? Is there a doomsday scenario in place should Corney follow his compadres and walk?

What will happen to the £250,000 of fans money that bought Barry his seat should things take a turn for the worse? Is it ring fenced?

How has it gotten to the stage where the first that the fans representative body lets its members know what is going on is after the horse has bolted?

Other than that, I agree with whoever it was that posted the other day that it is certainly one of Barrys better interviews, despite the fact that he is repeating the same old rhetoric. Then again, Corney probably has all the gob shoes right now.

    Derek.

  10. Best goal against - well obviously none, but for a moment of standing there and applauding, either of Coles goals against us, Beardsley strung them both together perfectly, and though I didn't clap any of these, Irwin at BP when we got beat 6-3, Kanchelskis when he ran the full length of the 18 yard line, :censored: there are so many. None by a C**y or L***s player though - scruffy goals all of them.

Best for - King Rog innnit. Diving header v Ipswich.

To be honest I love that goal for what it was, record breaking. His goal at Ayresome Park takes some beating though when we won 1-0. Milligans too against Everton, an absolutely spanking volley.

Best OG against, Killer at Leeds. It was a corking header.

Best OG for, without doubt and I am sure that ther will hardly be anyone that disagrees, Kevin Francis.

    Derek.
