  1. They were successful, however things change - don't they.

One of the big three has been recently quoted saying "...it's ridiculous - the club is now taking food out of my family's mouths...."

    I don't know...

They need to look into getting a better refreshments supplier then ;)

  2. I agree with Prozac’s opening post. Unusually I didn’t feel inclined to log in to OWTB last night after the match (incidentally I was home before it finished) but I was thinking about the club’s sorry state of affairs all night. It is comfortably the worst it has been in my 20 years supporting the club, in terms of everything (and I include 2003!!).

To me, Penney appears to be a :censored: manager. And people thought Shez was bad… :laught16: Just look at Chesterfield now, not to mention our record under him with, whether you like it or not, an equally poor budget to Penney’s. There was quite a hoohah on here about Penney’s appointment and it seemed positive. It hasn’t been. Thinking about it, his record is pretty average – he did well at Donny with a load of money (but couldn’t get them out of this division) and he did ok at Darlo I suppose, though presumably spending again seeing as they paid £100k for Abbott and ended up in admin. It’s hardly a great record – we’re the biggest club he’s managed and he’s failing miserably, injuries or not. Andy Ritchie has achieved more, and my suggestion of appointing him was often mocked by Penney’s bum boys on here. What I would give to have Stitch or JS in the dug-out now. I talked about giving him time last week but if I was Corney this morning I’d sack Penney on principle and plead with Stitch to come in and try and rescue this appalling state of affairs. Still, I suppose the “I’m not bothered if we lose I just want to see players applying effort” crowd ought to be appeased….

As for the atmosphere, dear :censored:ing god. Outnumbered at home? 3-3.5k home fans? Whilst certainly not only Penney’s fault we’re on the verge of being forever minnows – we’ll be getting less than Dale in the new year, mark my words, and I’ll be one of the ones who isn’t around for it. I’ve always supported a proud, medium sized club and have no interest in what’s going on now – I turned up last night out of duty but I wont be going again for the foreseeable future. You see I absolutely insist on enjoying my life and EVERY time I’ve watched Latics this season I’ve left pissed off and saddened. I’d rather ignore it. So, I won’t be going again until we appoint a manager with some :censored:ing bollocks or Penney grows some. The only thing the bloke has done right is resign Gregan and loan :censored: and it’s a bloody good thing as I’ll tell you what, we’d be rock :censored:ing bottom without them.

I feel sorry for those with season tickets.

    :ranting:

Welcome to the gloom Stitch, you will find it quite comforting eventually.

  3. Can anyone help and put the last two weeks in a nutshell for me?

Have we given the thumbs up or down yet to the move to the dark side?

I believe that the keeper formerly known as the clownish Dean Brill reared his ugly head again last weekend. Any signs of a newbie yet?

Has Barry turned up yet to voice fans opinions in the boardroom?

    Ta.

    Derek.

  4. Hello all, I know you will be angry about tonights result, I just want to know what you thought of Pools as a team, as I couldn't make it, did we deserve the win, or was it just two poor sides and we took our chances?

Good luck with the rest of the season.

You had nowt to beat after the first five minutes or so.

I'm thinking of taking a monkey outfit up to yours with me and putting it on Dean Brills kit peg. If he can keep his hands on it for long enough I will just let you lot do what you are famous for.

  5. I was never really sure why everyone got over excited about our new midfield quartet, and tonight I have seen what I thought I feared.

    Are they destructive - yes.

The problem is that they don't have an ounce of imagination in their game.

Despite the fact that PA & KP ran their collective bollocks off, they never once saw a ball of any meaningful purpose.

Our midfield is :censored:e - forget all the expectations.

    Derek.

  6. This one seems to be worse in its scope, and few areas of the world seem immune to it.

The reason why it seemed worse in the early 1980s was that the wholsale (and deliberate) dstruction of Britain's industrial base was taking place. A process which has left us, as was exposed by the financial crisis last year, with very little to fall back on. An economy based on finance and McJobs and a country where youngsters don't seem to leave school until they're about 24.

We would probably be feeling the current recession more if the effects weren't being masked by 'quantitative easing,' and the banking bailout.

I'll have you know Corp, there is nothing wrong with a McJob - it has enabled me to get a season ticket after months of unemployment earlier in the year.

Granted though, I do work for head office  .

Anyway, back to the point of me bothering to log in to reply on this thread, I just wanted to provide an example of how things may not add up financially for OAFC Lover.

I got made redundant in March of this year and didn't start working until the end of June.

Mortgage circa £500 per month, dole £65.30 per week (I think, it is there-abouts anyway).

Forget the rest of the bills, my mortgage was only just half covered.

There are plenty of people who find themselves in the position I was in only a month or so ago - I would hazard a guess that there are more than a few worried enough about their positions to take a long hard think over the purchase of a season ticket.

It is a luxury that many can't afford.

    Derek.

  7. Oi you lot!!!

Do you take transient members? My new job has me down in London for the next 6 weeks (starting next Monday) then every other week for a few days.

Just wondered if there would be anyone about that fancied a few scoops if there was nowt else to do.

    Cheers,

    Derek.

  8. I'm not so sure having Leeds on a Tuesday night for the 3rd year running is exactly fair. We need the revenue and a packed BP on a Saturday is a far better guarantee of that!! Then, I am biased cos I'm faced with a 360 mile return trip to BP and back for every home match. But there's more southern based Latics fans would love to have that fixture more accessible.

I think the decision to play L***s on a Tuesday is a police one, rather than a glitch in the FL fixture generator.

Something to do with not having the resources to police at OT or the Council House and BP if L***s are playing us, IIRC.

    Derek.
