God knows who we will get, but I would love Exeter away for the first game.
I hate playing at home first 'cos it means you always get a trek on a Tuesday night for the first away.
What is the date of the first game by the way? Have to start looking at flights in case it comes to fruition that we get the game at the other St. James' Park.

He would only just beat Iain Dowie and Nick Griffin in a popularity contest in this house; but blimey that's harsh on him. Thought they had an excellent 2nd half to the season.

All very well, titch, but how many do you actually remember?
I would bet more than I do Kets.

Know how you feel mate, absolutely gutted for you.
Keep your chin up - you never know what is around the corner.
Derek.

Let's hope your references hold up...
I'm not asking Chris Taylor!

Got a job offer at lunchtime, so will be renewing after all.
Get in!!!!
Derek.

Please scratch all of the above - the luck of the matchball has rubbed off again and this morning I have received a job offer.
Thanks Roger and the lucky ball!!!!

Was that the day Palmer scored and no one knew it had gone in because we were so low down in the terrace?
If so I have a copy I would think.
I will dig it out at weekend and check on the quality.

Ah well, times are bloody hard.
I have decided to sell my David Eyres shirt, worn at Huddersfield on the day of his 40th birthday.
No COA I'm afraid, though I am sure I could get one off the man himself if required, but there are plenty on here who can vouch for the authenticity.
I paid £250 for it and would be looking at somewhere in that region if anyone is interested.
My prized possession is also up for grabs.
The matchball from our 4-1 victory at Maine Road when Roger scored his hat trick. Signed by both teams.
I paid £350 for it when the club were in dire need of cash, again, I would be looking for a similar return.
I want both items to go to someone who will really appreciate the meaning of both of these 'once in a lifetime' items.
I would love to say that the money I get would go and pay for my season ticket, unfortunately it will all go on mortgage payments.
How sad is that.
PM me if interested.
Cheers,
Derek.

Didn't he sign for Cheltenham a few days before that 'moaning about the flag tosser' arrived, and was then promptly binned by him?
Par for the course - he is probably being crap for someone else now.
Derek.

Would love to despite the fact that I couldn't be arsed for big chunks of last season.
However, dole money doesn't meet the mortgage payments never mind season tickets as luxurious extras.
If I manage to get a job by August I will go to the games, if not I won't - it is that simple.
Tough world out there at the moment and football is an extra I certainly can't afford right now.

Worthington has always really annoyed me when we played Huddersfield. Mainly cos hes done very little constructive. Its always been destructive. I.e. Stopping Latics from playing. Which is a quality we have lacked - we've not had anyone in the centre battling, giving a kick since mini shez. If he's have been in the side with Wellens maybe we'd have sold Wellens for 1.5m not Donny.
Welcome to BP Jon.
Good signing IMO.
I agree with this. He has always been a pain in the butt when playing against the terrible terriers. Not particularly creative but like trying to pass a cannonball.
I don't care what people said about the rushes of blood that Mini Shez had, he was a pain to play against and wasn't scared of putting everything on the line to get a tackle in. I can forgive disciplinary indiscretions from a player that is really willing to get stuck in and make the challenges that no one else wants to make.
Now, all we need to do is get ourselves another Wellens type player and the midfield won't be a million miles away, and our Achilles heel from last season will have been addressed. Top end next to be looked at DP please.

87 for me at the moment. 88 with Exeter this year.
The only oustanding grounds will be Aldershot, Dagenham & Redbridge, Barnet & Morecombe.
Did Burton in the cup under Davros.
Cheers,
Harry.
Edit. All watching Latics
Add Darlo and that's me done; so 86.
Shed loads of others though, I think they should bring back re-election. Probably do Exeter this year - Walshy, Dan, fancy one of them liddle iddy biddy planes again to Plymouth to meet Chip for the jolly? A pint in the airport and then two cans of stella and a breakfast roll to start with me thinks!

he may be our record goalscorer but did he really contribute that much to our cup runs and promotion???
[dons helmet ]
Seriously, does the fact that he often played in a fairly ordinary (or less than ordinary) team not make the magnitude of his career achievement an even greater thing? I can't believe I have read a comment that so undermines the status of our greatest ever player - and if you are fishing I would be ashamed to do so in such a manner.
Also, if I remember correctly, didn't he bag the second equaliser for us at Moan Road against United in the FAC Semi?
Not contributed my arse, you need slapping with a wet haddock.
As for the squad - not particularly bothered which way Penney goes as long as he gets in players that are willing to put in a shift more often than not. I will though be disappointed if we don't sign anybody better than Danny 'World beater and better than Wellens' Whittaker.
Did Palmer contribute? I'm still gobsmacked!

Boo, Don't slag Bugby off! We gave him a lift to Millwall many moons ago when his car broke down at the services, in return I got a signed picture of Ian Marshall (I burnt it when he left) and my brother got Andy Barlow!
Admitedly they were only 50p from the club shop lol.
You got a bad deal there mate.
Does Alex keep the pie on a muffin loon in a cupboard and bring him out on special occasions?
Derek.
-
He won't be on gods little acre week in week out any more, thank god.
Can we shout 'murderer' at him yet?
Derek.
Edit: Where do people get the idea that he was championship quality?
In my mind, if he was really championship quality he would have had a 25 plus return. You know a little bit like championship quality Jermaine Beckford et al.
He was an ordinary 3rd division striker with an extra-ordinary amount of baggage tagging alongside him. He got us column inches like nothing since the early nineties, but everything else surrounding him was a farce.
I am glad to be shot of him.

Greegs should be offered a one year extension, and Ratters the same. Perhaps the same should be offered to Maher as well.
As for the rest of them, a pat on the back on the way out of the door along with in-contract Whits and Lomax.

Hello, I'm back from Barcelona.
We have a new gaffer and won under BFJ and now this? Are things looking up then at BP?
Derek.

Why the deduction this season and not next?
SSN are reporting that if they get enough points to escape relegation this season the points deduction will be for 2008/09 season.
If they are automatically relegated through accumulation of too few points this season, the deduction will come into force in the 2009/10 season.

Good.
I've heard some very interesting tales about him this morning; some common knowledge, some not so common. Bad egg springs to mind.
Derek.

coco is a city fan.
I will guarantee you 100% that he isn't.

...I would like to see us going for someone who gives more thought and effort in regards to what they are doing on the pitch rather than off it.
Derek.
-
Yep, on his own
- the rest can carry out their lap of honour within a pre-determined route.
Egged and floured from the pitch Pitch - Tunnel - Dressing Room - No Time for Showers - Board Room - P45s - Front Door - Tarred and Feathered - Sheepfoot Lane - 409 - Job Centre - Scrap Heap - Wankers the lot of 'em!
Be careful Paul, Pete will be putting you on his transfer list for comments like that!

I though he was fantastic for us, definitely in my opinion the best keeper I have seen at BP for donkeys years.
However, if he went to ply his trade at the council house he would instantaneously become a scummer of the highest order.
Don't do it Lee.
