  1. So nice to read that and 100% accurate. I used to stand under the clock on half way line and rapport with Alan superb, his gestures and comments about the opposition fab. He used to ask which side should I go round the fullback to the kids on wall then beat his man jog back and thumbs up or down , if in mood he would nutmeg them..... or a wink to crowd before doing it. Sometimes with his back to player he would make a certain hand gesture about said defender and then make him look like one. Hope someone else recalls him nutmegging a player then taking it back to him and doing it again v St Mirren on a very cold winters night. LEGEND you bet....

Its wrong re Revie as he was due to come and watch and game was snowed off then he failed to appear at next game.

Absolutely amazing player and the lace story would be viral on you tube today but remember it well. Some great games against Bristol clubs in that era.

Alan used to run mile after mile around Royton and only his so called friends led to him leaving for Blackpool, he rented a shop off our family as a boutique and his "mates" ??? within the car business cost him lots one in particular a big fat slob and gangster in many ways. Far from a playboy in my view a very nice lad who drank OJ or tea, always had time for a chat and quite gentle really beyond his love of fashion and cars. He took a lot of stick re his marriage but unfairly.

Recall him inviting us in for a cuppa and chat at Southport one Easter, he had house opposite ground and then ambled over to get ready at 2.30. Played a blinder.

He reached a point where he had to get a transfer to clear his debts and seeing this my uncle signed him for Blackpool writing off the shop rent and giving him a few £££s to help him get sorted. The only player to come within 50% of Alan was Simon Stainrod. Gifted ....beyond imagination. Today well where would he be. My son gets sick of me telling him about Alan and just how good he was.

when you look back we were so lucky as young un's to watch football played properly by 2 wonderfully skilled footballers....

regards Revie...I'm sure he did come to BP in late 1974 not sure why but AG would probably have been playing in this game...

interesting the offer from Arsenal....they were some team back then.

    happy days :OASISscarf:

  2. MK Dons 5 Latics 0

Peterborough 5 Latics 2 (After being 2 up!!!)

    Latics 0 Southampton 6

    Latics 0 Peterborough 5

    Colchester 4 Latics 1

3 up v both Exeter and Carlisle and had to settle for a point….

Last 19 games of last season yielded 10 goals and only 2 wins, failing to score in 12 of them….

24 games so far this calendar year, yielded 19 goals, only 5 wins and failed to score in 10 of them…including 9 defeats in 13.

    shurrup moaning... :pokeuu:

  3. super effort by chaddy fc...the issue is with the ST only costing £10...knowing how fickle kids can be these days...if its cold, wet windy or generally as it is all 3...little kelvin or zach will probably want to play the latest version of CofD rather than freeze his tockers off watching some Latics v another struggling 3rd division team ....

will still offer to purchase a handful and provide to a local secondary school....anybody any suggestions which school?

  4. £15m on wine, women, cars and property.

    £5m for the family.

Let TTA retain a 10% share of the football business after they've given up all ownership of Latics and associated land and companies to me for 1p. Guarantee them a £300k pa income from 2018 for 20 years to repay Blitz's capital in addition to any dividends paid from my soon to be profitable football club.

£20m to tart up Boundary Park including sustainable facilities for non-football income generation, community facilities and multi-storey car park for match day and hospital use.

£5m to underwrite cheap season tickets for 3 seasons to grow fan base. Free season tickets to all kids reaching 8 years old and the adult of their choice. Repeated every year to get all 8 year olds hooked!

£10m to invest in the playing side over 5 seasons.

£45m invested long term (minimum 20% in the local economy) to generate an income of £1.3m from 2018, indexed annually, to supplement the sound business model grown from the above. An additional 10% a decade to be withdrawn to fund stadium enhancements after 2027.

That should bring a chance of success and sustainability.

back of a fag packet job then.....

I'd buy United and run them into the ground... :D
