  1. About 1975 pre season against Huddersfield at the old Leeds Rd a mate and me couldn't afford coach (still at school) so got the 65 bus, 4p I think. Big mistake, had to walk from town centre avoiding very agressive Town fans all the way there. After game got chased around the ground, just as we were running past the main entrance Jimmy Frizz was coming out so I explained our predicament and he said 'No problem lads, jump on the team coach'. Result! Got a lift back to bp with Groves, Blair, Whittle, etc. Happy days.

1976 it was..think we won 3 -0, we also got chased around udders before and after the game...daft as a brush aged 15

  2. Cracking centre half. Came to us from Brizzle City if I recall and took up running a pub in Brizzle City Centre when he retired. His son, Gary, played for us as well.

Slightly off track, but how about this for a line up if they were available now and played 4-4-2.

Andy Goram (1st time); Ian Wood, Bill Asprey, Keith Hicks, Mo Whittle; Alan Groves, Bobby Johnstone, Les Chapman, Rick Holden; Bert Lister (or Roger Palmer), Andy Ritchie (or David Shaw)

God, the possibilities are endless when you also consider the likes of Simon Stainrod, Rodger Wylde, Ronnie Blair, Harry Dowd et al.

Gary use to run the Horse and Jockey behind the Bristol Council House for a fair few years...mid to late 90's..his sister use to travel up regularly to watch the Latics..not sure if she still does mind.

  3. well theres 2 problems at the mo, when is the money needed for these loans, and how do we secure our long term future, I do truly believe we can survive and prosper in a new stadium you only have to look atthe boost it has given other clubs, and I believe there is a population of 220,000 people in oldham (my head count works) so I think surely if we have more to offer we could easily get a back of at least 16,500 that equates to 7.5% of the population of oldhamso 15 people out of every 200 in the town supporting the local team is not too much of a distant dream, this sort of attendance, aswell as other income, and possibly further investment from someone who would be willing to take the club on (but with a new stadium, it would look a lot more of a tastier proposition) theres no reason we cant push for top championship/low premiership status one day.
