  1. Take away his past and this is a BIG BIG coup for Latics. His record at West Brom speaks volumes. Especially the 98/99 season when he banged in 32 in the Championship.

If he can hit any sort of form similar to that in his past, then i'm sure he'll have been worth the gamble. That said, it is a gamble but one i'm pleased with taking. He has the ability to set the record straight. Show people whilst he's once again now back in the public spotlight (as it'll be on him a fair bit), that he as seen the wrong doing he has done and how Prison has hopefully changed him for the better. I'm guessing those are along the same line's he's told Sheridan, which has made him J.S take the gamble.

He wont be on anywhere near the sort of money you'd expect he was on earlier in his career either. If it was anyone, you'd expect now that a club has taken a chance and given him a lifeline he probably thought he'd never have - that he'll try his upmost to pay us back.

It's a brilliant coup. In a way Senor is right it's terribly inhumane that he is being let out but like many have said it's not for us to judge, put that down to the incompetence of the Jury passing sentence. Till I see him at BP I won't believe it either.

We need a song for him though because 'Hughesy, Hughesy' makes me feel a tad ill (13 years later)

'Oh Lee Hughes, he's not a jailbird anymore' :o

  2. Will you shut up about Yeovil as well

Next time we go, I think we'll just dump you there!

Surely though that will be a while, they are clearly beating the Lashers this weekend & will certain relegation next season we will pass light ships in the night as they drift back towards non league.

Come on the mighty GREEN machine this weekend!

  3. Thanks-be to Warney, if every player had put his effort in this year then we'd have been promoted with ease.

Not so sure about that Ackey. Admittedly his effort was top notch, but the time old discussion of having 11Paul Warnes/Tony Carss etc in your side comes up. Without quality in your side balanced with the PW's of this world, promotion wouldn't be acheived IMO.

Achieve By Unity Yeovil say. That got them all the way to the Playoff final. :o

  4. Better than running around in trainers and falling flat on your :shakeit: on the muddiness that is Clayton PF!

    So who is coming?

I don't mean to pish on your bonfires with regards to playing on Clayton's but they appear to be ripping up the goalposts as we speak.

  5. To be honest with you thought he would have been a good, cheap squad player. Someone that could come in and fill numerous different positions if called upon. We don't know the ins and outs however.

Guess he may of thought his days as a pro are limited so didn't want to bench warm, like you say anybodys guess.

  6. Totally agree briefs, it's a sad day as you really can't fault the guys efforts. I just hope he gets fixed up with a club soon.

Another one of the Ernie Cookseys of this world, great personality, 110% effort. Such a shame, hopefully he'll get a decent final pay day somewhere to see out his days. Like people said would be a great acquistion for Dale, but I see him possibly back at Millmoor.

  7. I voted no. Only because he would serve as a back up player, in a squad sort of way.

Very valid point , rather have him off the bench than Mr Hall anyday of the week. However, seems like a non starter as he's been shown the door already 'allegidly'

  8. Yes they do. It's almost like that whole situation was our fault and none of our fans did anything or put any money in. We did though, not that they'll pay any attention to that.

I wouldn't wish it on any club but sometimes, just sometimes, I wonder how they'd feel if it happened to them. Who says it won't either. He who laughs last...

Great post but surely you'd avoid Wigan & Huddersfields bucket

  9. One potential problem I can see with Ticketmaster selling the tickets is say you and another family member have a season ticket each and want to buy 8 tickets so you and friends all sit together.

If Ticketmaster make you enter your code when you first log in the site it may then restrict you to your x4 tickets in that transaction. you then have to do another transaction using the second code and there is no guarantee you will get seats next to the first lot you bought.

    Hope this makes sense

All seems a big deal about nothing to me.

    a) We have to get there

    B) Time limits restrict selling tickets at BP

    c) Wembley is apparently a massive fleece anyway with Beer/food prices being sky high

    d) Nobody has a bottomless pit of money (well not many) and in principal this 7% is wrong but who gives a rubber duck if we actually get there? I'd personally pay whatever it's going to cost.

    e) Brighton was a much bigger fleece

    f) With regards to whether people got to sit together, the size of the staduim tells me that this won't be too much of a problem.

    g) 4 tickets per season ticket holder. How many st's we have 3500? so thats 14000 tickets, leaving a min of 9000 floating. I'm sure the quota will be more than 4 pp.

Just my drunken ramblings anyway

  10. Your not wrong Wardle mate, 12.56.

Great Morning though, enjoyed it. Cheers Lads

Although my hash brown was slightly under cooked.

Funny to see the faces of the 7 o'clockers!!! Get up earlier is the lesson!!!!!!!!

Although any regular attendee of away games i'm gutted for you if you miss out.

  11. All in a days work. Appreciated you boys turning up when you did counting the chewing gum on the floor was too boring. But 8hours waiting was well worth it & it flew by with the laughs.

    Nice one boys.

    P.s.

Beard - Although you're a fellow Roytonian I have the GOLDEN TICKET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    And the press coverage lol.

  12. I like it...collar is big improvement and it looks slick and streamline, might even make Greegs look slimmer!! :thumb08:

And if the material is better quality then I'm all for it :dynamite:

Make Gregan look slimmer, nah he's the modern day Neil Ruddock his backside gets bigger every game I'm sure it'll be the size of a truck next season.

    Please,Please,Please,Please new material.

  13. Anyone go to the 'residents' meeting on Friday?

Alarming how they held it at The Clayton Arms when they arew so opposed to the 'outline' plans.

I've never met a stranger group of people in my entire life.

Residents of Downham Close refering to Covenants on Latics Car Park that could 'stop the whole thing dead in it's tracks'

Then there is the old man who claims to have bought/buying the land next to the Clayton Green where the old farm used to be so that the access road can't be built.

Remember - Change is not good, or so it seems!!!!

    ROAM

  14. Tell me about it. Just when you think they're improving, they go and show you that bar the odd decent one. On the whole - they are jobsworths. 5 Stewards and a copper for one bloke, at the Wolves game. All because he wouldnt sit down. <_<

It'll be funny if and when we get to a crunch game later on in the season, where a win would take us up.

Just gotta know which ones to get onside & you're laughing. ;)

  15. At least there's not been sweets flying down this season. You should count yourself lucky. We were getting pelted by his mob's young un's, the last few years. ;)

    Bloody 'ooligans

Thankfully we have enough entertainment from the high calibre 'stewarding' in & around there. We don't have to resort to being pelted by sweets.

Wilson if you're listening Murray Mints will do ;)

  16. Wondered were you sat mate.... changed my trainers for the Northampton game but cain't remember which I wore. You coming out for the OWTB night out? Staying up fot the w/e

Yeah, should be a good un' that.

Obviously be wearing my new 'lucky' scarf once it's all made up.

Sat in the cheap seats near the police box under the watchful Eye of MrWilson.
