  1. I honestly don't think we will sell him. The money isn't really relevant, as the spending cap comes in next season, so we need promotion before then otherwise we're going to have to cut back. Also apparently transfer fees aren't included in the spending cap, so us getting £5m/£10m/whatever from selling him wouldn't increase our budget for next season. So from our point of view, there's no incentive to sell him and he doesn't seem the type to push through his own move; he's a lovely guy that still lives at home with his parents, a million miles from your typical footballer.

I reckon he'll be off in the summer, as it would be unfair to stand in his way any longer. He'll definitely be gone if we stay down, and may still go if we go up.

Anyway, just popped on in an attempt to avoid revision (which also means I can't make the game vs. you). Hope you all had a cracking night last night, and that it wasn't ruined by whatever turns out to have gone on near the end. What a cracker from Simpson, glad he's doing well for you.

    Swot.

  2. taylor played well, had a couple of chances when he could have had a shot but passed it but shows what he can do when he has some space. the opposite to scapuzzi who i thought would have shown what he can do more than he did

Though Scapuzzi did win two tackles when defending in the first half! First time for everything.

  3. Why ?

Maybe when it was backed by the club you could demand it up all the time but with it now being fan owned and run by volunteers I think we just have to grin and bear any outages

And no before someone says it im not arse kissing

    Wow!

Merely wondering why it was down - and as Admin/mods are I think always on here then a line explaining would be interesting. Don't think I said it should be "up all the time".

happy to grin and near outages but still interested to know why it happened.

  4. Shame. I like Brunton Park and thought there was room to redevelop it. Space behind both the open end and the main stand. But I guess the money's not there for just a football ground and if the new one is part of a bigger development that's where the financing , or much of it, will come from.

And that's where we are - we need the money that comes with other facilities/services/buildings. And I believe the Board are doing a lot to bring this finance in. An announcement in January.

  5. haven't got a link as on my phone but check mine out (jimblingeuph)...i put "you always have been and always will be...a :censored:." then something about his dad being :censored: and gannon will get the job. I then received a small tirade of abuse from Ian Moore lovers...gannon then got the job and i give it back to em! :) great fun...

    Classy. Reflects well on Latics.

  6. I wasn't comparing distances, I was comparing the size of the game in that region!!! Us drawing City (in Greater Manchester) is like Bradford drawing Sheff U (In Yaaarkshire) there's only one team bigger than Sheff U in Yorkshire, despite what the Hudds fans would have you believe and thats Leeds, who you'd compare to Man U for us.

So you see, massive game for Bradford the other night, probably the biggest in their history, it's a bit of a come down now coming to BP, just like it would be us going to Hudds/PNE after beating City the round before, coz they are small fish to the games we have against City and United, do you remember the 90's??

That has to be the most incorrect statement ever on here!!!

Bigger than the FA cup Final, bigger than winning promotion to the Premiership etc etc....??!!

And I'd have to say the rest of your logic is ...how do I say this...flawed.

Distance is a major factor to how many fans travel so Sheffield for them can't be compared to Eastlands for us.

And the "come down" is irrelevant. They are getting closer to the final so that's the inducement!

  7. To put that in perspective....it's like us drawing City away, taking 1,200 (even though it's on't box)

then drawing Hudds/PNE (or someone even sh1tter than that) in the semi and everyone expecting us to take 3,000 when in reality we'd take 500, so i think all of this talk of 3,000 for a Jpt Semi (quarter Final) is a bit over excitable!!

Other than the facts that Bradford to Sheffield is 50 miles and Oldham to Eastlands about 6, plus Sheef Utd not quite being a Man City, your analysis is spot on.

Your original post compared Latics at City to Bradford at Sheff Utd - glad to see you've had second thoughts...
