Huddersfield fans site suggests we have offered contract to Michael Brown, released by Portsmouth.
-
not if you make it back in sales and profits
And do you honestly think that sponaoring a player at Latics will generate more than £2000 per week in profits ( possibly £3000 or more in sales)! What market is going to respond in that measure to thre exposure of a company sponsoring a player in Oldham??
-
Do Latics tout to local business? I.e. pay for this player for 12 months and we will advertise you and let you sponser us etc
I know if I was a businessman I would love to pay for M'votos wages for a while to keep him at Latics
£2000 a week (say) is a lot of profits to donate .
-
they scored goals
And did before he arrived ...he's an inexperienced coach without a real track record . Dickov is learning on the job , can we afford the luxury of Fowler doing the same?
-
The Dale Chairman wants someone who will emphasise young players and attacking football.
-
anyone's second best to getting scholes, and we've already got our past-it striker in feeney.
wouldnt mind him as a coach like bury did last season though
Why? Do we know if he was good? What contribution did he make to their promotion?
-
Second best to getting Scholes?
Twenty-second at best
-
But what would the point be? Sounds like he's already got the message and is bricking himself.
I didn't say we should.
The threat is enough.
I was responding to comments saying that sueing wasn't a good idea and pointed out that the club had never mentioned sueing.
-
Think this is just a case of the club trying to "look hard"!
It would be almost impossible to actually sue him - we'd have to prove financial loss as a result of his actions which would be difficult. Even if we did sue him and won, he'd just declare himself bankrupt and we'd get nowt anyway.
Did I read in another thread he lives with Furmanator? Not sure we want him bad-mouthing us at home and encouraging Furman to go.
Who said anything about sueing him?
Legal action to stop him repeating falsehoods is not an uncommon act. A simple injunction (not a super one).

jacobsonjoe jacobson
Apologies if people and the club took my comments in the wrong context
How the hell can he say this..watta pr*ck..hope we sue the balls off him
"Wrong context"??? only one context he meant them in . Hope it puts other clubs off him if he ever looks for one.

If we've broke 2,000 sales I'll be relatively please.
I guess the big question is who makes up the demographic of the sales? If it's mostly kids and bids...
2000 would be a 10% increase on last year - I'd be more than "relatively" pleased.
-
As of yesterday Huddersfield had sold 28000 tickets.
A big day out in Lancashire for them.
p.s. Posh had sold 13000

Completely agree with adding points of view and great to have the debate.
My own view is that the success of either Youth or nnon league is probably nearer 1%.
Would love to see some stats.
I suppose Museum de LAtique is best places on the number of players from either Youth or Nno league that have made the grade.
as it is stats, I think results could be interprested a number of ways so we will never get a true result.
I guess overall, if anyone one system worked better then everyone would follow suit.
I guess one of the problems in quantifying this is what constitutes "making the grade".
Is it one appearance in the first team, ten, twenty?
We probably have a gut feeling for it but it's almost impossible to come up with a defining line.

Keep reading this about Reid "He needs fitness "
What can he do in 3 months pre-season that he couldn't do in 5 months he has been here ??
The guy doesn't look interested and if he really wanted to impress he would have been fit before he arrived and if not at least look interested to get fit when he was here.
He can't be blsamed for Latics signing him when they did! And surely he is showing his interest by signing...
Think he accepted Latics deal because nobody else was interested Lots of time to get fixed up with a club between now and start of season
, but obviously PD sees something in him.
Love him to prove me wrong but i wont lose any sleep over having to write an apology.

"Pesumsbly" (sic) yours is, too?
Precisely
-
That's a good point- Xmas games tend not to be our biggest/nearest rivals, as we would normally get a big crowd for them anyway but this year there are a few more options other than Carlisle, Hartlepool and Tranmere, although its quite likely we will be playing one of them over the festive period.
We often get a local derby on New Years Day

see many on here alluding to the fact that the fishul site is pretty poorly run slow with updates facts poor grammer looks dated etc.we are told this is due to lack of finances/manpower at the club to maintain it .could there not be a link up made with the meeja/i.t. studies dept at university oldham (dont snigger ) or the college to have some of the students help run the site as part of there studies ? Would look good on there cv and help promote the club right at its target age group ?
Is this a wind -up?
Tske a look at other clubs' websites and you'll see how good ours really is. More current, more news, more pics. Of course it's not perfect and not everybody will like all the stories on there but..
As for "poor grammer" (sic) pesumsbly your post is self deprecating?

The board have already allocated the budget for his 5 year contract!
So if he goes we get £200K , or more, and have the wages we would have paid him as well.
So it's irrelevant whether the fee received is anything near the wages he may have been paid!!
-
-
I'd keep him 200k will probably just be slightly more than his wages and bonus during his 5 year contract. If the club has faith in him I would keep the lad.
Not sure what the relevance of that is?
-
Absolutely, I'm sick to death of reading the million and one reasons why people can't be arsed going, if you are an Oldham Athletic supporter and can afford to attend and geographically can get to games, then just support the club and go.
+1
The equivalent of "armchair reds" is "keyboard Latics".
-
Yet again, the club puts Away fans and cash in the bank before looking after their own fans. No wonder Season Ticket sales are down, and this justifies my decision not to renew.
I now feel that I can go to the game, as I am less offended than I have been in the past when the club gave my seat to away fans.
What a shame the fans dont get a say in the boardroom
Really? Because the club has to maximise its revenue and us ST holders have to sit in the other side of the RRE on a few occasions it justifies you not buying a ST???
-
Whilst others haven't enough about them to understand why their concerns are, in all probability, unfounded.
Well said.
Here's to the "New Boundary Park".
I know some people like to keep tabs on former players

Bit of a wrencher for Chesterfield to lose top scorer like that for nothing ( oh yes, Chris Porter!).
No Davies, no Smalley, Jack Lester getting ever older...Shez needs to be looking for strikers.
