  1. I think this 'news' has emerged now as without it, the council would have been saddled with a load of land that no-one can do anything with. They (the council) will have come out of this in a much better position that we have. However, we are where we are and can hopefully start to look forward now. Onwards and upwards and all that.
  2. Oldham Athletic...and I'm a season ticket holder. No other club has caused me as many bouts of anger and depression in since my first game nearly 30 years ago. I have a similar relationship with the wife & the England cricket team
  3. Although it'd have made pre season exciting had he chosen to give a year to Latics (and probably put a fair bit on the gate), I'm far from convinced that he would have worked out on the pitch. Look at Sol Campbell's struggle when he dropped into League 2 with Notts County. The facts are that, at United he's surrounded by top class players who can make the most of his passing ability. They know when and where to make a run. I don't think dropping a player with his qualities would have guaranteed success, as the players around him wouldn't have been on the same wavelength. Added to that, he would also have been a target for the cloggers that patrol some teams in this league. To be honest, he's best not to tarnish his career and I'm happy enough that he at least gave us this: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/teams/manchester-united/8548962/Paul-Scholes-Manchester-Uniteds-midfield-maestro-with-a-passion-for-Oldham-Athletic.html
  4. My 4 year old has developed an (un)healthy Latics obsession and has been to around half a dozen games this season. When out of school he pretty much wears his kit all the time. I was thinking of getting us a family ticket for next season (I haven't had one for years). However, I'm a bit miffed that, at 4, he's not old enough to join the Boundary Blues but would still cost the same for a ticket. At the moment, I pay on the gate and lift him over the barrier with me. I wouldn't mind paying a £50 ticket for him but not if he can't get the BB benefits that others do and, obviously, if he can't get one then I won't either.
