Up Pohnpei By Paul Watson
If you like your football you would love this book. Two lads who like everyone else dreamed of playing football but where never good enough.
They then looked at the Worlds worst nations to see if they could anyway earn cap.
When they found a Island & become the Coach the battle they had with funding, getting players coaching with zero experience swooping a life in the capital for a Island in the middle of nowhere.
Up Pohnpei is defo worth a read.

Well Richie seems to be coping well with people walking into the dressing room etc
To be fair when I saw the Reserves at Everton, Shez wasn't in sight but Wellens was very organised knew each of the trialists name also.

What is going on?
Thought we had investment? This better not be the start of something bad.Is this the reason Sheridan left?
Use to work at the club myself on Matchdays it happened often.
It will all be sorted Blackburn at home & the rearranged game with Bury will cover it.

Behind the curtain Football in Eastern travels by Jonathan Wilson.
Explains the Eaatern block before & during the fall of communism & where some countries have took strikes in football.
Others have fallen how newer clubs have become powerhouses rather than those controlled by the State.
A decent read.

Few new grounds Non Oldham ticked off.
Prestwich Heys 2 Radcliffe Boro 2 entertaining pre season friendly.
Barcelona 1 Real Madrid 3 The Spanish super cup my first ever El Classico game. The match was everything you want or expect in this fixture. Goals, a sending off.
However I also found it to touristy far to many selfie sticks, people trying to get photos of both Ronaldo & Messi when near the stand.
Malta 0 England 4 not the best England game I been to. Credit to Malta they gave it ago nice little stadium also.
Evo stick division one North
Ramsbottom United 3 Trafford FC 1. A wet Windy cold Friday night a very good game Trafford well supported also. Plenty of action goals either half.

Getting hyped up is one of the joys of being a Oldham fan.
But Saturdays performance was something different and how much we have improved to compared to a month ago. My only disappointment on Saturday was not keeping a clean sheet. But sure in time that won't be a problem.

I had this day off originally but cancelled it. Not been to a Checktrade Trophy game since the U23 came into it. Won't lie now am gutted and proper up for going to this game.

He helped keep us up by scoring against Palace on the last day of the 1992/93 season!
Nice one, Wrighty!
Funny thing is he once scored for Palace at Oldham before his move to Arsenal and the Chaddy applauded him.

First round Proper is not regionalised so hoping for a Southern non-league team away as I'm at a concert on Saturday evening...(I know - it's all about me...)
I would take Maidenhead, Aldershot, Bath City or Oxford City if they get through! ?
All good ties once saw A Rugby League game at Oxford City.

Don't think theyve got a match.
Wonder if oldham did want it called off that young lad who has played for England at youth level would he count?
-
Ryan McLaughlin often gets called up but if he his injured he proberly be over looked.

Brentford got rid of there Academy set up a few seasons back. Instead they play organised friendless and tournaments across the continent.
Huddersfield have this week announced there no longer running an academy at junior levels.
i still feel it's important to keep the youth set up but at the same time with the new trialists coming in.
If there of a better standard could help the youngsters raise there game and prepare them a lot better for first time football. If they get the opportunity.
