Kicking off in North Korea by Tim Hartley
Having read about this trip to watch a game in North Korea my overall impression is that the whole book would be based upon this.
How wrong I was under the title of the front cover the words Football & Friendship in Foriegn lands.
There was only one chapter about North Korea. Instead it turned out to be a fantastic book about all the various places he has been with his lad from the age of 4 up until he was 22 watching football.
Feom Baku to Moldova, to Brazil to Israel & Palestine. He mentions a couple of his non Football trips to Mexico. Being in Kiev when the trouble in the Ukraine began while at a Fans football tournament aimed at bringing fans from across the globe together but some of the Eastern European countries still living in the Dark Ages. From feeling like at a tourist at El Classico.
Mixing football with Charity trips & the strange atmosphere at a Football game in North Korea.
If you want to read something different away from the Premier League and a interest in football abroad this book be a good read.

Very comprehensive 6-0 win for England over Scotland last night. There's no reason England can't go on to win the tournament, they did really well at the last World Cup and the increasing professionalism in the English game should help close the gap with Germany.
I know the Men's team for Scotland has struggled in recent years (yes I know they drew with England)
But suprised at how bad the women. The Fact the SPL is so one sided told the Scottish Women's top flight was actually a decent league to watch and good pool of upcoming female talent

They lost 1-0 to Huddersfield behind closed doors yesterday and are looking got sign former Man City striker Felipe Calcio on loan from Espanyol.
Yangel Herrera who is the Venezulean U20 captain played in the final recently against England is expected to join them on loan when New York City season ends.
Brazilian Douglas Luiz, Pablo Maffeo, Alexis Garica & Columbian Marlos Moreano are all training and expected to join on loan.
Read that Man City have just bought Dutch club Nac Breda also could be a shout for next season.

No Hunger in Paradise by Michael Calvin.
A very good book talks about the whole academy system. How the players get treated and ones who don't make it.
How agents will use there power and infurlence to help sign kids up to big contracts and play the clubs off each other's.
Mentions players who have gone abroad to restart there career how clubs will do all they can to hold onto contracts even if there not gonna sign them to stop others signing them.
Speaks to many ex players Mentions how Oldham had Andre Blackman on trial.
How former player Kevin Betsey was actually working in McDonald's & now coaches England C.
How some players & parents think once in an Academy they have automatically made it.
A very good book.

A bit like a box of chocolates or a tube of Pringles this is a book you can keep dipping into, one that’s rather moreish and easy to digest. Each page tempts the reader into returning for a bite with its seemingly non-stop stories of the less savoury, the outrageous, and the simply hard to believe that surround the game.
Imagine one of those TV programmes that are in the style of “Most stupid criminals”, “Celebrities behaving badly” or the like. There’s always a slightly incredulous commentary that expresses partial amazement at the situations that are shown. And the viewer is loath to turn over, enjoying the exposure of stupidity, ineptitude, or simple bad behaviour on show. This book is rather like that, a look at the bungling, incompetence and outrageous decision making from many in football. An entertaining, amusing and slightly frightening exposure of the game of comedy rather than the game of beauty.
If you’re looking for analysis of why things go wrong then this isn’t the book. But if you want to relax and be entertained with a touch of schadenfreude then dip into its pages with gusto. Whether it’s the antics of mascots on and off the pitch, vendettas of players towards others, amazing own goals, managerial shenanigans, or countless other scenarios that beggar belief, the author has probably covered it here. Despite his chronicle of football behaving badly, it’s clear that he loves it so it’s not a book that’s been written just to have a pop at the game. More of an insight into the less reputable goings on of some members of the family that everyone involved in football belongs to.
A new season isn’t far away and there’ll no doubt be more amazing stories that develop. In the meantime enjoy a compendium of those that have already become part of the game’s history and folklore. Maybe there won’t be another murder discovered because a new stand has been built (as happened at Blackburn) but “Pulp Football” should prepare you for anything.
That sounds like a good book to read.

A bit of an odd thing to ask, but has anyone been to one before or are they strictly not for the public?
Was thinking of going up to watch Exeter play at Bath City on the same day that we're playing Swindon there, so if it was possible to watch in any way I'd try to do it.
Depends if you know anyone or as. The poster above says lay out. The one at against St Mirren the other year you could just walk in same at Chapel road.
However one at Chapel Road know a few where refused entry barring a select few.

Caught the last 15 Min of Hampton & Richmond v Concord Rangers. Hard to judge so another visit needed.
Saw at Hanlow Town the Middlesex senior cup final won by Ashford Town 2 against 1 Wealdstone Town. The raider wasn't there but fair few fans have issues like him get wound up easy.
Following week saw Athletico Maddid beat Eibar 1-0. Not the best game Eibar could of got a late leveller but three overall display reminded me of the defensive tactics used by Steve Robinson. It be sad when Athletico move ground there old one was full of character. There ultras impressed me every 10 min displaying banners which said the surnames of players & words legends of the Calderon.
Next day saw Gefate in segunda division beat Corbola 3-0 two great goals. Noisey atmosphere.
Following week North West Counties division one play off final Litherland Rymca lose to City of Liverpool 3-0. Kick off delayed due to crowd congestion all the goals where in the second half. But City of Liverpool where the better team and are well supported for that level.
Next game was the German cup final Where despite a spirit performance Eintracht Frankfurt lost 2-1 against Borussia Dortmund in Berlin.
The next day saw a 7th level German game SV Buchonia Flieden close to Frankfurt beat TSV Lehnerz II 3-1 and win promotion.
Then went to a Charity game at Sandbach United who lost at home to a Crewe Legends side 5-3.
Scotland 2 England 2 Hampden Park a decent crowd for once a good atmosphere for an International game. No other games on that weekend but Saw Edinburgh City ground they play at the old Meadowbank Thistle ground about 15min walk from Hibs Easter Round.
Hearts ground is being redeveloped but there museum is small but free was a change from some the bigger ones I seen. Some nice tributes to the players they lost on both wars.
My final game has. Even the Stade De Frannce to see France beat England 3-2. For a new ground I like it new design plenty of food & Marquees in and around the ground so you don't have to rush out after the game and Que. Nice to see the whole ground sing Don't look back in Anger together.

Not knocking Forest Green really, other than the fact they're just another bankrolled side depriving clubs with a real history a place in the league. That in mind, can you imagine looking towards the opposite side of Wembley while literally a few thousand fans, most of which will have been supporting the club for a year or two, celebrate in an end which holds 40,000, knowing you have to spend another year visiting Dover and Bromley?
To be fair they have been knocking on the doors for years.
There crowds are small bar every club has to start somewhere. Plus it's good to see newer teams come into the league.
Funny seeing all the Tranmere fans still complaining. They knew the rules before the start.
