  1. Absolute nonsense to suggest AL ought to be considering binning Bunn off. Not sure many managers would be able to get more out the 11 that started yesterday. Not sure why or where all these injuries have come from but that’s about the only stick you might be able to beat Bunn with at this stage.

The thing to be critical of is our transfer business. It’s been very, very poor and as above, the fact we’re calling out for Benteke shows the state of our attacking options. Can’t quite get my head around why the money has dried up so much versus last year but we’ve been set up to fail (and by failure I mean bottom half - still don’t think we’ll go down).

  2. 25 minutes ago, Ritchierich said:

So “general sale” effectively means people who can get to Boundary Park......tried for 2.5 hours to get through on phone + no online sales available

Feckin usleless, home end it is then

I had issues getting through but you need to press 1 when you get through to the initial answerphone message to speak to an operator. I was ringing up for a while

thinking that the answerphone message meant the phone was busy so kept putting the phone down without listening to the full message. Got through quite easily once I’d worked it out. If that makes sense...

  3. Thanks to all who went and NNN for organising. Some good answers but also as has been pointed out above, there are still a lot more questions. Let's make this the start and not the end of ongoing dialoguewith the club.

Still a lot of answers to get but this sort of openness can only be good for all parties.

On the point of home negativity... It's hardly surprising considering how dire we've been for years now but our away support, on the whole, is fantastic and if we can replicate that at home, it can only be a positive.

  4. Third simple fact-

At the time we tried to sign him he was a convicted rapist.

People don't get it do they?

Chesterfield have signed him at a time where he is due a re-trial but his initial conviction is up in the air. We tried to sign him at a time when, according to the court of law, he was a rapist. Whatever the eventual outcome of any future re-trial, the timing and way we went about trying to sign him was wrong and that's why we attracted the uproar and Chesterfield didn't.

  5. As has already been said, this is a progressive move. The club is moving forward step by step, after a decade of standing still. I understand the nostalgic element and the affection that some fans may feel for the Chaddy but it is just a stand.

We're still at Boundary Park watching our team play football, regardless of which seat we're sat in.

Our new stand is finally here and with it the chance to progress as a modern day football club. Let's all celebrate that fact and support the club's decision.

  6. I think this rivalry has a long way to go before both teams see it as the biggest fixture of their season.

Rochdale are not exactly viewing this as their cup final. Rochdale have probably seen bury as their rivals over the last 10 years, it's going to take a number of years of us both being in the same division and a few memorable fixtures for this to get some momentum. So here's hoping for a 4-3 tonight with a 22 man brawl a controversial penalty 2 sendings off and a winner deep into stoppage time and this might start to take off.

That's not the point though. Rivals or not, they are away to a team 6 miles down the road in a game where a win would take them a huge step closer to the play offs. As has been said, if you can't get yourself up for that game, you should probably jack it in

  7. IF they're all fit:

    Kean

    Mills

    Wilson

    Elokobi

    Brown

    Kelly

    Jones

    Winchester

    Forte

    Wilkinson

    Poleon

Get Forte back on the wing where he seems to be more effective. Mills has to play for me as he's our best full back. Quite attacking but sounds like last night was poor going forward so let's get at them and put them on the back foot early doors.

  8. One of the things a fans' organisation could start is an "increase concessions age to 18 and under" campaign.

Given that the vast majority of 16-18 year olds are non-earners this would be the fair.

Do we have such a fans organisation?

I've also emailed the club about this before. Personally I believe every club should have student prices (indeed most actually do). It would be anyone under the age of 18 or with a valid student card to get in for a reduced price. I simply can't afford to go to BP. The price of travel is a lot anyway without having to stump up 20 quid for the match. I know they do a student membership scheme but they really ought to have pay on the day student rates as it does put many in that age range off attending.

  9. If we are throwing non league strikers for a punt.

I'll throw in Alex Teniola Tonbridge Angels.22

He played for them last year, They go relegated, he went to cord Rangers in Conf South, did not work out. Back to Tonbridge and is Ritchie-esque in getting crucial goals or last minute ones. Would need some TLC though.

I don't think Teniola would make the grade despite his seemingly high status at Angels. Billy Medlock looks a good finisher and already has double figures but players who can make the step up are so few and far between

  10. Gutted there are no student prices or prices from 17-21 though!

Depending on how old you look, might it be worth getting a 12-16 before the game? Can't see the guy on the turnstile bothering to check. That's what I'm doing anyway, save myself 11 quid. Personally think all clubs should have student prices but then Latics don't so we aren't really in a position to complain!

  11. The reaction on here has been somewhat incredible.

Lockwood - 3 promotions on his CV. Let go by financially troubled Bury after the transfer window and so could only move to a non league club. Training with Latics for 4 months - Johnson knows what he's about. Experienced which is what we've been crying out for.

Worral - been chased by Latics for a while. Rotherham fans astounded he's been allowed to go out on loan. Bury fans think he's class. A winger which we need and has played at this level before.

Harkins - experienced midfielder - again what we need. Creative player which has been our weakness all season. Criticism of being lazy from st mirren fans but praised for his skill. Johnson has played with him before so knows what he's all about.

So why all the negativity? I don't know if they'll work any more than anyone else but they clearly aren't knee jerk signings and they all answer the two things fans have been saying we require this season - creativity and experience.

  12. Agree with all the sentiments in this thread. Why can't we go and give them a game? I'll be enjoying a good day out whatever the score. It doesn't get too much better than watching your team at Anfield and hopefully we, as fans, can forget about the league just for a couple of days.

Seems as good a time to re-post something I put on twitter a few days back:

I've got two tickets for Anfield for me and a friend but they aren't together. I have: Block 126, Row 24, Seat 165 and Block 125, Row 21, Seat 135. If anyone is going on their own and is within a few seats either way of my block 126 seat and wants to swap theirs for my block 125 seat (a better view I'm told) then let me know.

  13. ^^

Huge generalisation. I'm a student and therefore struggle to stump up the funds required for matches on a regular basis. I behave just as well as the next man at a football match and am there to watch the game, not for a scrap. This is is exactly the same for my friends who I often go with.

Safe standing with subsequent lower prices would make it much more affordable for us and I'd welcome it.

  14. I just don't think it would work unless we had the rail seat number system as compulsory. That said imagine running late and having to find your 'place' in the stand when its full?

My other worry is that I like how football has priced a certain element out of the game and its more enjoyable to take family to now.

I worry that standing would lower prices and welcome back some of the lesser desirables and bring back some of the less welcome traits of yester year.

That said I enjoy standing but would rather keep the prices in line with current trends if it meant keeping the scroats out of football. I just think places like Oldham could do without too many £10 season ticket folk coming on matchdays and be more hassle than its worth.
