Yes, in real life we'd probably get on fine, have a pint and a laugh together, but the anonymity of the net means we can slip into keyboard warrior mould. Done it myself in reactions, when In reality I'm quite a passive guy.

Agreed. The Internet/Social Media feels like it has gone worse since the introduction of Smartphones. It felt fairly peaceful before that. I just think people care far too much about their online persona and they seem to forget that real life is a lot different to online.

Hope @Chaddyexile84is ok, he is right in that sometimes we have to take a break from the heat of message boards.

I absolutely agree. However, I'd say this is a lot better than the #oafc hashtag. I joined up to Twitter once solely to post Oldham Athletic stuff. I had to come off. So toxic. Saying that, Twitter as a whole is toxic.

    Not even toxic towards Unsworth?

Fans want hope and there doesn't seem to be any good reason why he isn't providing that.  He's been backed with signings, got little Wembley back, been allowed to dick about with the canteen and changing rooms - in fact he's been accommodated more than any other manager we've had for years.

I'm starting to think these people who want Unsworth to stay don't even go to the games. We're so depressing and predictable to watch.

There's nothing to complain about, anyone who thinks 30 years of decline can be turned around in a few months without spending huge amounts of money on playing staff is entitled/stupid.

So how much longer do we have to be content with shite then?

I'm not happy we are shit. I do have the ability to see the last few league performances have shown a slight improvement though. As I've said had he gone mid December he'd have no argument.

The addition of Nutall is a massive step forward as he is a very good centre forward. Sheron moving to centre mid has made an improvement there (more needed).

I'll judge him on league results. He's enough new signings in now for there to be an improvement. Up to him and the players to do the do.

We're 20th out of 24 teams. Just lost in the cup against a team directly below us who have won four all season. How many games do you give him to get it right then?

    Are you ok?

No one wants a toxic atmosphere on Saturday as it'll impact on the team and their performance. Everyone going should be fully behind the team and if they go behind trying to encourage the team.

It won't be as toxic as away games as the usual twitter mouths won't be as drunk.

Am I ok? Yeah, I'm fine.

I'm not saying we WANT a toxic atmosphere. The fans try to get behind the team every single home game. However, as this season has gone on, less and less people are joining in. Our songs just fizzle out quickly or struggle to get started.

I'm not saying fans will be going with the sole intention of being toxic.

  7. Why are people against it getting toxic on Saturday? People show displeasure in different ways. I don't boo the players or staff. I used to, but I'm over it. However, if people want to do it, it's up to them. The fact of the matter is that we are shit. We're shit yet again when things are supposed to be getting better. He has had the funding. He has had the backing. However, there's no indication of what football he wants us playing.

Toxic or not, we really do need to put in a good solid performance on Saturday.

The reports that DU stormed out of the ground after the match on Saturday are astounding. I don't care particularly about whether he goes to the fans after a match win or lose and thanking them. He can head down the tunnel if he likes, up to him. But not to stay afterwards and speak to the players or front up to the media is unforgivable, barring some kind of home emergency that we don't know about. It's not leadership, which is sorely needed at the moment.

Who actually initially reported that? Is there any truth in it?

  9. Taking into consideration the tough times people are going through right now in terms of the cost of living, if Unsworth is still here next season, how many of our current season ticket holders will renew? I don't understand what kind of Football he wants to play. I don't understand the way he comes across. I just don't think he's the right man for the job. He seems way out of his depth, as shown by his team management, his interviews, and how much he tends to avoid post match interviews.

Saying all that, a win against Southend would be superb.

Not long ago he was in the Oldham Chron saying the fans needs to back the players and club, we all need to pull in the same direction and work together, ect ect chatting bollocks. He’s marched out the stadium, crying, without a word to the fans. He’s so out of depth it’s untrue. He’s not managing kids anymore, he has to live by his decisions, not hide.

There's no connection between Unsworth and the fans. I don't know if that's just me thinking it because of how close we were to Sheridan.

  11. Even when we won against Torquay, I could see major flaws in how the team was set up. Huge gaps in the defence and midfield appeared at various points of the game. All throughout his tenure here, it has been so easy for opposing sides just to walk right through us. There's nothing wrong with acquiring firepower and improving attacking options. However, when there's no structure, stability, and tactical awareness, then it's absolutely pointless having those options.

I don't see where Fondop or Abraham fits into this team anymore. Mind you, I don't understand where any of the attacking players fit. I don't understand what Unsworth is doing with them.

Unsworth is weird, clueless, out of his depth, and doesn't seem bothered about forming a bond with the fans. I know some people don't think he owes the fans anything, but I think it counts for a lot.

I can't see us going on a winning streak or an unbeaten run, with him in charge. That is what we need to get out of the mess we're in. Get someone else in. This guy really hasn't got a clue.

I reckon he need to win two out of the next three, notwithstanding he's a Royle appointment and in many respects sacking him takes us back to square one. We have a run of four tricky fixtures after the next three so without a mini run to bolster him it could add up to a long, long dispiriting run of results.

Can he really survive a defeat at home to Peterborough Sports?

"Sacking him takes us back to square one". We're second from bottom and can't win a game. We've made no progress. Sacking him isn't a massive risk.

  13. I've seen a few people say "Give him the next 2/3 games". Really? We're bloody dog shite and we're second from bottom. His record is absolutely awful and he has had the chance to bring his own players in. Personally, giving him a couple of more league games means that it's more than likely we'll find ourselves in a bigger hole than we currently are. I've not seen anything that shows what kind of Football he wants to play. There's zero connection between Unsworth and the fans. What a depressing situation we find ourselves in. Apparently, we played alright for 20 minutes or so against Boreham Wood, but they ended up winning their first League game since the 8th of October. Earlier this season, the football we played under Sheridan was bad, but this is even worse. Get rid.
