I think you could get him at 375,000 the reported fee for Stephens and add extra on the clause i.e if he get 20 league gioals we have to stump up a further 25,000 and throw a 10% sell on clause in there and he is as good as able to talk with u i think

Half a million on one player is a huge gamble but it would show our intent and he would help attract others here

Never understand how anyone can have 2 clubs, not a dig at you personally but can't get my head round it. I think I have a dislike to 90% of English Clubs for one reason or another.

What it is mate is I live down South and i am very much a Gooner, I met my missus when i was on holiday a few years back and her and her old man are Latics fans, we used to take it in turns of me going up north and her down here and when i used to come up here i would go every other week and watch Oldham when they were at home, (we still do this now) so i have a soft spot for the club, twinned with the fact my best mate is a Mk Dons fan so gives me a bit of interest in the club, like u i must admit i hate 90% of the clubs as well in fact more like 99.99% of the other clubs anyway

Watching Latics every other week of course has given me a soft spot for them, that twinned with the fact when i was a scholar at Coventry i played my 1st ever game v Oldham and when i was at Cheltenham Town i scored an OG which gave Oldham a 2-1 win against us lol

Trust me as an Arsenal fan we would not pay his wage demands it would break our cap, so that rules us out, have the club never tried to sell the clause to city in the past?

I hadn't as yet received a reply from the club no. I was under the same impression regarding the mobile phone idea and don't the idea down that route would be feasible and the same applies to the sitting on the bench idea.

I have been in discussion with the playershare team to see if they would been willing to donate the tickets and then take back the value of these in the amount raised so that the expense does not come from their.

My idea was as you say to have a tin and all takings to be in cash but pay them to the club upfront to ensure people actually pay the legit amount they bid in their envelopes so we are not chasing bids after the results have been announced.

Would the club be willing to advertise this on the website to drum up interest should playershare pay for the tickets?

Does the playshare have a kitty they would be willing to buy 2 tickets with as a trial? The club at least seem willing to play ball on this, i will continue to talk to them about it as well, did this get brought up at AGM??

I’m not sure if Alan has answered you but I think he’s away from the Club at the moment. I’ve often thought of how we could run competitions using the “lowest unique bid” system, they’re usually done on a fee added to the mobile message which would be too expensive for the club to set up. Your idea should work as long as you can spread the word wide enough. There is no reason, of course, why your idea can’t be run from the Trust/Playershare side and the Hospitality tickets just purchased from the club. If Alan gives you the go ahead to run it from the club shop, you would need to provide a sealed box for the slips (they would only need “bid”, “name” and “phone number” on them) and a cash tin.

Signed shirts would be fine also but fans on the bench and in the dressing room, I think, is a no no.

PS Don’t forget the VAT!

Last i heard Philips was in talks with Coventry and that would mean he wouldnt even have to move house from Brum so sounds pretty much a done deal to me

The new season is now 30days away and i am delighted with the way pre-season has gone so far

We have:-

Got rid of a lot of dead wood

Tied down our best young players to the club

Signed our number 1 target in M'Voto

Made the right decision over the captaincy (IMO)

Made decent money on the Stephens deal

Trimmed the wage bill

Kept Morais

Signed a promising young keeper

Should we sign a goalscorer (like gold dust) everyone wants one of them and there aint many around

Sign another keeper,defender and midfielder adding that little bit of experince we would be in a solid position going into next season, yes the squad is slightly thin on the ground but this couldnt have gone much bettter!!!

I think we should be grateful we dont have a gaffer who is stupid with the money, we are investing wisely and going in the right direction

If only we could have kept Evina as well but the lad stuck to his word

lol no free bar mate but again a good idea from the club point of view as people will spend money in the bar, yet more money for them, i really dont see how it could fail

I like the ideas Steve however im not sure the club would allow someone on the bench but certainly an idea, I hope to liase with the playershare team i would like to perhaps take up a role if any become vacant with them so that i can implement further ideas i have

The money can only i think go through the club so that its offical and all funds can be calculated by the club themselves, by having money going through the club i belive would give people security and with the correct advertising can rasie the club a few bob through playershare which only benefits everyone at the club as allows us to improve the playing squad

I really need a lot of green plus on the opening paragraph the more i can back to the club the stronger the postion we would be in

This is all subject to any agreement by Alan Hardy and of course tickets being avaliable for the Sheffield United game, if it worked maybe could be done on the Boxing Day game I would for certain try and bid to treat the father in law That earns brownie points
