  1. The new stand's capcaity for retail units doesn't excite me much. Seems highly unliklely to become a destination for shoppers so what's going in there that will attrract business? It's tough enough to make a shop work in a prime location these days.

well you look at the elk mill retail park, and how much business shops there get, you could argue it differently. If you put certain chain stores, or stores recorded for their notable business profits and even franchises, it could attract shoppers who could easily pull into the car park and shop. Its just down to the club to get it known that the stand offers attraction to shoppers.
  2. Yeah, listened to it. Was considering starting a thread on it. He basically said that the loan system was the lifeblood of lower league teams. Have to agree with him really. He also explicitly stated that Latics had "no chance" of making it to the Prem - again, he's probably right. As usual, Talksport were only really concerned with Prem clubs but I thought SC put a realistic spin on things.

i prefer the never say never attitude. blackpool did (yeye they have more money) but who is to say we dont go up, get a team together who shock the football world and ge promotion. i live in reality but its nice to live in hope
  3. New Contracts offered: David Mellor, Kirk miller, James Tarkowski, Carl Winchester. Current Discussions: Alex Cisak, Lee Croft, Mvoto, Matt Smith. Our Current squad looks like this: Jonathan Grounds, James Weslowski, Cristian Montano, Glenn Belezika, Cliff Byrne and connor brown, Jose Baxter whilst Joe Cooper, Danny Gosset, Chris Sutherland and Luke Simpson have signed pro contracts: Total in squad: 10 (1 Gk, 6 Def, 3 mid, 1 ST)

  4. We have a core of: Grounds, Weslowski, Montano and Baxter who are under contract. If I was LJ I would do my up most to get Bouzanis, Mvoto, Tarky, Croft, and Smith on 2-3 year deals. The others it can be mix and Match. I would like a starting 11 of : Bouzanis, (New RB), Tarky, Mvoto, Grounds, Croft, Weslowski (New Attacking Mid), Montano, Baxter and Smith. Work around that. But Im not LJ and we could see a whole new looking team come August 3rd

  5. just as a follow on to my last post,

pre Johnson league Goals (36 games)

    For 35 44

    Against 50 63

    GD -15 -19

    Johnson League goals (8 games)

    For 10 57

    Against 7 40

    GD +3 +17

Figures in bold are what you could expect at that rate over a full 46 game season.

Johnsons goals for column would leave you around 10th -12th in this years table

His goals against column would leave you top of the table

I know stats can be twisted which ever way you like, but that to me shows clearly where our transfer policy needs to be looking in summer. the defence has improved greatly under LJ, if we can improve our strike rate markedly we should be in for a very good season next year

With the same squad, with Johnson in charge from the beginning, we could have had a completely different season! Bring on next season!! Infact no, pre season, I want to see the imports and exports of the current cargo aboard HMS Latics!!
  6. I will finish what Elvis Presley here failed to do! Thank you very much Lee Johnson for keeping Oldham Athletic in league one. I cant speak on behalf of everyone but I thought the appointment of an inexperienced newly retired player would seal our doom. Now, I cant wait for next season. You have turned the team upside and have got results and led us to mathematical safety, restored confidence in the players and have given youth there opportunity whilst showing Miller as an excellent prospect up front. Onwards and upwards and very much cant wait for pre season and next season! Try your upmost best to keep some of our key players, mvoto being one!
