  1. Baines warrants the mentions he gets, and is in fact as a hardworking and reliable player. He's up there with Fellaini for player of the season and there's no guarantee we can keep hold of him this summer, as with the manager come to that. Talk has been heard that one or two other premier league clubs are weighing up a fifty million pound bid for both him and Fellaini in the summer but I can't see it occuring myself. But Baines is a top player, you can't make judgements on the basis of one or two games as an opposition supporter, in that I get to see him week in week out. He deserves to be talked of as a regular performer and top player, but worried we may actually lose him in the close season but there's still such a lot of things to be sorted out this season and everything hangs in the balance so one week at a time and everything. Thanks for accomodating.
  2. I don't like to intrude on other fans pages or it feels strange participating on a forum other than your own club but while at it, I remember the games we had in 1990 in the fifth round and remember it all like yesterday and those old enough to remember will look back and think it was a greater achievement then, than getting the replay a few weeks ago. We had players like Southall Sharp Cottee Nevin and Ratcliffe etc and you were second division at the time but gave us a real go and won after a second replay and almost made the final that year. Royle as always, was (and is) a great manager and fine individual.
  3. Players wearing gloves or tights in games now, or skin coverings, regardless of weather, is embarrassing to see. I fear for the fututre of the game sometimes. Why don't they just wrap them in cotton wool now and be done with it. Overpaid and over protected tarts some of them.
  4. Wouldn't your best moment (as an Oldham supporter) have been getting to the League Cup Final in 1990 or even the game that got you back to the then first division the year after ? But you've had once again a very good run. I didn't expect you to beat Liverpool as did most people, but you gave a great showing, deserved the win and did us a great favour with it. I was looking forward to the draw with you thereafter as we've had some good games in the past and I can only imagine the euphoria of that late equaliser and i was concerned about the replay and what to expect, but you've got some financial rewards out of it all, entertained a lot of people and made headlines. If it had been against any other opposition this round, I would of been right behind you in that hoped you could progress or make it back to the semi-finals once more.
  5. I only support the club, have done for many years, but what the players do, I can't control. But it's not just down to one of two instances from last night, it's widespread week in week out in leagues up and down the country. Of course it gets more attention or newsworthy in the premier league but it's something that's come on in recent years. I hate some of the behaviour of players today sometimes. The game has become soft now. How some of these would of coped in the 1960s and 70s I don't know. It's no longer a mans game.
  6. I wasn't aware of any heart attack but can only hope the people involved are OK. We won't face either Manchester United or City until the Final if we make it and I don't even know if we can get past Wigan in the next rounds given some of the rubbish the players have served up in recent weeks. That would of made for a great 6th round game though if you could of made it, at Boundary Park against Wigan but it's ours to do, but not all that confident to be truthful. I was worried before last night that we you were capable of eliminating us once again after 1990 and '08,. but this time the players showed a bit more steel and determination from before and decided there was still something worth fighting for this season.
  7. If you'd have played us on saturday you most likely would of got through. (Norwich game) You have done very well this year in the competition and if you had played against us on some previous occasions where we let ourselves down, you could of made progress last night. Made yourselves more vociferous than our supporters for the most part but Goodison hasn't exactly been high on atmosphere in recent times. Sorry you couldn't do it in the end, but you should be proud of yourselves for what you have achieved, but after defeats in 1990 and 2008 for us, it was our turn to finally get the win and make it through. Maybe Smith should of been introduced before he was but that's for your manager to decide, but Moyes himself has been under pressure lately and won't make up his mind about his future and it has effected the team, but Philliskirk has done a great job for you. I wish you well in your league endeavours from hereon, but it's been 18 years since we won a trophy and it's essential we get back to winning something again, but I don't think that will happen as long as Moyes is manager. We'll do our best hopefully to bring the trophy back to the north-west though, and I appreciate what you did to Liverpool in the earlier rounds, but well played once again in giving us a battle that went to two games.
