Little wembley is covered under the ACV.  This Means nothing can be changed to it without any consultation with Trust and council.

But if they consult that does not mean they have to agree to any council suggested changes to their application to build or am I reading your statement wrong?

  2. I always got the impression that they were overwhelmed by the numbers of people signing up for this service and I didn't really expect too much improvement at first. I would imagine most of the first half of the year would have been subscription and log in issues so maybe now we can get them to fine tune their product.

Be reminded that many of you subscribing are doing so in contradiction of the service agreement and getting too vocal/nasty may see you denied a service ( Not aimed at you Bristols )

    Wellens on preparations for Southend:

Interesting comment on fringe players and McEleny  in particular following practice game against Man Utd:. “He can assist players, score goals and he is two footed. He can take free kicks and corners with his right or his left foot.

    3

One thing that annoys the hell out of me is seeing an otherwise talented footballer using just one foot to the detriment of himself and inveribaly the team.

I am so looking forward to seeing this player for some reason, my brothers - my usual source of info - know nothing about him and I have not seen him in any clips but several sources have mentioned that he was the best player in the Irish league so hopefully in a few weeks of building match fitness we might have a good player.

    Probably Saturday's team.

    The bench will be interesting.

The choices on the bench recently have been packed with forwards and or wingers and strangely lacking in a good central midfielder.

McEleny ( if fit)  Nepo -  AH -  Wilson (or Hunt depending on fitness ) - le paz -  Ryan McLaughlin

The bench is harder to choose and depends on fitness levels that we may not be privy to.  Don't want to see Tope again and would give the likes of Maouche another chance instead.

    Good article

Now if only we can give Byrne a pitch to match his ability then we have the most talented player since Jose Baxter on our books. But in the meantime how he is expected to play to his best on that plowed paddock at Ice Station Zebra I don't know.

I think there is argument that suggests that we can all look back at earlier dayys through rose tinted glasses and we have a natural inclination to look back on the good times rather than the bad. I was 10 in 1970 and had a inkling towards Chelsea (typical young football fan, following the top teams), Chelsea won the FA Cup that year and followed up with the European cup winners cup in '71, an attractive team to follow. At that time my dad would take me to see them at United and City, we went to a few other matches in Manchester around then too.

Then something magical happened, a neighbour took me to see my local club at Boundary Park, a night match, v York City I think, did we win 2-1?, I don't really remember. What I do remember is the excitement of watching at night under floodlights. This was my town's own club, this is for me. I couldn't care less that it was division 4. Unbelievable that, having seen Osgood, Hutchinson, Hudson and  Best, Charlton, Law, and Bell, Summerbee, Lee that I couldn't help but fall for Latics! They were my team now, walking from Oldham and down Sheepfoot Lane with my scarf tied round my wrist trying to look hard (I was 10/11/12!). Wood, Whittle (did he ever not score from a penalty or free kick?), Bebbington, Bryceland (my favourite), and of course Shaw. I'm one of those who love the tangerine strip by the way, didn't know we had played in blue historically at the time. Of course we got promoted that year and won enough money month after month from Sporting league sponsors Ford to build a new stand. So successful was our unglamorous fourth tier team that Ford never sponsored in that way again, always makes me smile that. It was around this time that Grovesey arrived. I often wonder if he was as good looking back as we all believed, this was, after all, third tier football, the answer? Course he was, spell binding dribbler and entertainer, again a cracking side going on to get promotion from the third tier in style, Groves and McVitie, two entertaining wingers.

We then spent a long time in what's now The Championship, Loved the Paul Atkinson/John Ryan partnership, Simon Stainrod of course, Alan Young and the underrated Mark Ward., I always felt hat was our rightful level, even on the way back down from the top. Not convinced now, maybe good times ahead. It's in your blood isn't it.

Awesome post, wish I could upboat more than once. :applause1:

Started watching in 85/86 Season ... Leeds, Blackburn and Burnley and City were the 'rivals' of the times.

Leeds is a common one - how I remember that goal they scored in the playoffs straight after the kick off from us scoring the goal that 'won' us the game. And the violence both real and perceived was certainly a big factor hence Leeds are also in my top 3 hated teams though they probably don't even think about us one bit.

Manchester City may seem strange to those that are very young or that are old enough to remember when they used to be a big club, but in the mid 80's City were shit and in a free fall to oblivion.  They were a genuine rival to us and sometimes they were even our bitches. If you started your interest in football during the 80's you always had a feeling that we would beat City because we were often the better and IMO the bigger team.

Burnley is a strange one to choose Andy B - That Anglo Scottish final in the 70's when they thumped us left a scar on me that still itches today, but strangely they are a team I respect not hate. During the 80's they spent most of their time in the lowest division so I am not sure why you consider them rivals. So many of their players I had a soft spot for over the years. Leighton James,  Peter Noble, Billy Hamilton,   our own Stevie Taylor, David Eyres and Ron Futcher.

  8. Within a month

Name the Jimmy Frizzell stand correctly

Improve the concourse facilities and outlets in the Jimmy Frizzell and northern stands.

    Offseason

    new pitch

Have plans in place for a new main stand ready to go in case of promotion but hold back on that expenditure until we actually are going to get promoted.
