  1. I remember Andy Goram first game for us - pre season playing Chaderton at Chaderton fc ground

As he walked towards his goal to begin the warm up I just asked him 'who the hell are you' ?

'Andy Goram and don't you ever forget it' he replied smiling .... and I never have. Awesome :OASISscarf:

Remember when we used to sing "ENGLAND'S NUMBER 1" for a few years, then he pledged his allegiance to Scotland and the chant next week was "Scotland's NUMBER 1" :first:

  2. without a doubt the worst player in living memory has to be

    BRIAN KILKLINE

still having nightmares now thinking about him

    one of joes rare mistakes

He did struggle Kilkline, awful to watch - like a rabbit caught in the headlights . He was excellent for Coventry before us and did alright at Newcastle after leaving but forgot how to play / read the game while with us.

But far from the worse player we ever had, remember he was surrounded by very good players

This guy was a Polish player - what was his name ... Wolenski or something? our first foreign player. I think he claimed he had played for the Polish team but it turned out to be not quite right (Poland B or something)

  4. Just viewed the video - Awesome job!

    Some questions though.

Is this based on the actual plans or just something you have totally made up?

Is the stand set back from the pitch further than the original ford stand?

I'm so excited by this video, a stand like that would have a massive psychological impact on players wanting to come here or indeed new investors. I just don't want to be disappointed.

  5. Devils advocate (please don't throw stones) :omg:

If we got a brand new main stand out of it, ensuring that Boundary park would be forever the teams stadium. If we kept the blue shirt, kept the main name OLDHAM in the new name then it would NOT be the end of the world. But then why the heck would Rochdale sign up for that?

P.s. Was this merger idea the reason Scott had to quit as Chairman?

  6. Don't think running on the pitch at the end of the season (unless we've won something) is an age old tradition. I'm 30 now and I don't remember it happening when I was a kid.

I remember it used to happen all the time, first 3 years we stayed up in the old division 2 after Frizzel got us promotion was always a massive pitch invasion and gathering around the tunnel to chant for the players to come out and wave. It tapered off in the years following but it still happened even after the high fences went up.

  7. Seem to recall an article about the amount of debt per administration and the amount paid back afterwards as 'pence in the pound' a few years back. We we near, or at the top of the table for paying the highest % of our original debts back - I remember thinking at the time, "we can't even go bust properly". Had a quick search on web and cannot find the article, but did find this about monies owed to HMRC which does explain some of it:

I will have another look and see if I can find the original story - I saw it online (BBC, or a broadsheet website I think).

Oldham League One £520k tax owed £260k club forced to pay £260k balance

  8. G'day - first post for me.

I'm just as confused by this as others. Is holding off administration an excuse to keep their fans and players 'involved and motivated' for the last few games or is there something going on behind the scene we don't know about.

If they leave it to after the last game is there a chance (asuming they finish above the relagation zone) that the 10 points will not be deducted?
