  1. I remember that, we sent them down that night. That lad got a jail sentence for scaling the perimiter fence and dropping the linesman after an offside decision IIRC.

I was there too, mid to late 1980's? Sadly earlier in the game I remember a poor bloke having a heart attack in our end of the ground and some lads were trying to get the police attention but the bloody cops just kept on ignoring them - it took ages for them to respond.

Losing to Burnley in the Anglo Scottish cup final

Losing to Fulham in FA cup 3rd round at home in the mid 80's, Fulham fans came to the ground very late but just in time to see there team win. I was left in the Chaddy end on my own after the game devastated, despondent beyond belief, and frankly close to tears at the :censored: team i supported. However I resigned my self to supporting a team of of none achievers for life even though I would never see my team successful.

last game of Frizzel as manager - a 3-0 win at Leyton and riding in the train back home with the team. Frizzel came over for a chat and gave me some of the teams sandwiches to eat. Just before the train got back to Manchester Frizzel said his goodbyes to the team. When I read much later that Frizzel was sacked I knew that he had known.

Winning at main road with roger palmer scoring a hat trick (was it 1988?)

Winning 3-1 against the Arse - They were league and league cup winners and we did not just beat them but outplayed and outclassed them - great times were coming to Oldham. Just before Nial Quinn scored a late goal I reflected back on how upset I had been against Fulham several years before.

Any and every game I saw us play in the old first division /premier league

  3. Getting back to the original post / poster

I would like to give thanks for posting such a detailed match report. Being stuck 'down under' it is hard to get info on the latics and your reports add a little colour and detail to otherwise dour match reports available from the newspapers.

I sincerely hope you continue to make such a valuable contribution to the forum.

  4.

Same here from 1980 every week for years - city, United, Oldham, Rochdale, Bury, do kids still do this? Probably too expensive - shaky proof that football is not for the masses anymore?

Childhood memories, football for the working class. Right on.

Used to do it too - little weekend adventures too any and all footy stadiums around greater Manchester whenever Oldham where playing too far away. And same again on Sundays to all the rugby league grounds.

  5. To old to remember my first defeat but I remember the first one that left me devastated.

Anglo Scottish cup final against Burnley - I spent all week dreaming how we were going to win and be as big as Newcastle or Wolves by actually winning a trophy! Oh my naive teenage mind could only think on how it was going to transform the club, I fixated on it more than a Sam Fox page 3 picture, how could we loose?

    We got fkn tatered :bigcry:

  6. From my understanding this was not a one off spur of the moment act of stupidity by Michael Nuttall but 6 over a period of time. I would have been impressed and fully understanding if he had approached the other trust directors after the first indecent and apologised. We all make stupid decisions when our minds are clouded by personal problems / alcohol / drugs etc (not implying here). To continue to carry out these acts of fraud, especially when in a position of trust, changes everything and yes I do feel cold about his 'after being caught 'apology.

  7. Dream -

koukash to take over Latics and Roughyeds (sell Salford RL) build a 20.000 seater stadium at Boundary Park with training facilities / training pitches for both teams and to be donated to the people of oldham in perpetuity.

Multistory car park provided by council / hospital.

And I want it done by the start of next season too. Or I will stamp my foot and have a hissy fit till I get what I want .
