Forte and poleon both have raw pace which used effectively will frighten teams - both could play at a higher level but injury issues (forte) and possible attitude issues (poleon) means we are able to afford them.
-
I really think that it's time to shelve the political side of things here.
Northern Ireland and all that's gone with it is woefully depressing and complex.
People have different feelings and thoughts on it - fair enough.
Can we not just move past that and get on with rowing about the one thing that has us all here in the first place - the football!
+1
-
If there is an option on forte i hope it gets picked up - left footed with pace and can score goals - to me a no-brainer - if we dont ,he will benefit a rival im sure.
-
Watching that -i'm impressed - i thought he came across well - nothing that registered on my 'bull:censored:ometer'
AND he looks to be a big bastard! - no more midgets!
-
And why was brian potter on the pitch.....
-
I do actually agree with your original point! But football 'trends' do influence people- currently the diamond thingy. Three of this seasons top sides:Poleon is a quick striker.... Who needs a big lad alongside him to lay it off..., Winchester is a centre midfielder... Neither are wingers!!!
I'm not harking back to the Rick Holden, Neil Adams days... They are long gone. They game has changed, I appreciate that.
However, if Steven Gerrard, Frank Lampard, et al, have trouble playing 4-2-3-1, 4-3-3, 4-1-1-2-3-4-2-3.... Or whatever ridiculous mathematical equation the UEFA ABC badge tells you is necessary, how on earth can we expect 3rd division footballers to cope?
Play 4-4-fookin-2 with 2 wingers, 2 centre mids, and 2 strikers! This means we have to sign some wingers....!!!
CM: two from; Kelly, Jones, Winchester, Woodland (if we keep him)
CF: two from Turner, Murphy, Bove, Poleon, Philliskirk
Put Forte on the left wing if he carries on....
....get shut of Mellor, Brown, Morgan-Smith, Brian Wilson and Lockwood (as a player at least)....
Bristol city - pretty much 442 but not with 'traditional' wingers - big man small man up top - the best 2 footballing sides swindon and mkdons play...no idea! They seem to have extra players because of the fluidity, this can be exposed defensively but hell i would accept that.
These are the templates i would rather mimic than premiership trends.
-
And tbh im a bit weary of this fixation on formations - i want to watch a team go out on the front foot - the 2 best teams i have seen this season (swindon and mkdons) play that way and i honestly couldnt tell you what formation they play - they just play with plenty of positivity and movement.
-
Wingers in the rick holden sense are few and far between but as i originally replied - poleon and winchester could be the supply rather than packing the midfield...,with who? We don't have any wingers!!!!
-
The diamond formation isnt carved in stone- he could easily play 442 - two up top partnership - poleon and winchester as the supply and kelly and jones as the engine. It's ridiculous to judge him.... It's not his team... Not his players... We're playing a convoluted 4-2-3-1 diamond formation... Which is a legacy of LJs players... We need a manager who will play 4-4-2 with 2 wingers..Deano might want that, we don't know.
-
I don't recall it being - lots seem to get the hump about the 'direct' version of the game rather than the ' ajax' version we were losing with the season before ;)Was his record that bad while here?
Tbh i would accept a bit of that more direct stuff at the moment.
-
I sympathise with holden to a point (injuries etc) but i'm tired of dull toothless negative garbage like this.....'standard' 2-0 defeats without a whimper - i would say that too many of this squad is using the recent changes as a big excuse to hide behind- they need a giant kick up the arse from someone with fresh ideas and a plan to change things when needed.
I dont actually care who the next manager is - im more concerned about the concerns i have mentioned
-
0 shots on target in 92 mins - pathetic
-
What is so WOW!!! About it?WOW!!!
Oh :censored:ing dear, somebody cant read properly,
-
Thats what i assumed.the ball was in the air a lot ??
-
I suppose that gary roberts will have quite a 'hands on' opinion on the pitch - he spent large periods diving around on it....which is a shame because when he did put in crosses - more often than not they were decent.
-
Anyone else think rodger wylde (chesterfield physio) had a look of manuel pellegrini?!
-
Somebody posted on the chesterfield post match thread that they missed half of the game because of the chaddy roof....well there wont be that problem in the rre...
-
Agree that murphy was hung out today - completley isolated against a couple of big lads - where was poleon, mellis, turner and wilkinson?
If its some sort of 'experiment' then its backfired - no spark today no pace no balance in team due to no left footers - pretty much a BOO for the whole day
Highlight was paul cook slowly losing his voice as the first half was playing - whispering loudly by the end but the fella has passion.
-
I can hear the team talk now....;)Only Chesterfield on Satdee - they don't score much...
-
I know - but now unless we use elokobi - we don't have any natural left footers in the side! - sounds a bit of a daft worry but that left side is going to get hammered due to that weaknessBrown at left back was the only one not playing in his usual position.
-
They are probably watching the young right back - cannon..
-
Tbh i expected another 'standard 2-0' away defeat - would have snatched a draw if offered beforehand . It does worry me that the next two opponents have had free scoring games - and we are back to square pegs in defence..
-
Stats say we got battered- probably lucky to get a point...
-
I suppose they could be radical and move the coaches to the north exit of the Chaddy.
Stop being sensible- you will ruin a good moan!
