The one thing that the 73 74 team all said last night was the team ethos, all would not let each other down and all played for a firm but fair ex player Frizzell.
Hard work and team work will go a long way to remedy current situation, plus some pace on the wing and using Sutton as a CDM and some full backs please.

I wonder how many haven't realised its a 12:15 kick off?
Just got back from the 73/74 players reunion do, and was planning a lie in, good job you said this, as I wouldn't want to miss the early kick off.

Has anything else been disclosed? Is it a much needed cunning plan to access the fans bar from the stand?
Yes it's to build a new entrance direct into fans bar, which in itself is a good idea, but my lovely halfway line seat will be gone. Great for half time I guess.

Would like to buy my seats again in JRS but its being removed for a vomitory!
must be due to our shocking home form!

not to mention the pedestrianisation of the the city centre
Or even the pedestrianisation under the city centre, for those who know the Shoe Box project, opposite the Castle.

Yes he finished early.
Came back to Latics on the understanding it was only on loan as we couldn't afford the fee.
Ended up coming back on a free. Must have been knackered then. Retired after a couple of years.
Remember the first game back when he scored a hat trick in the first fifteen minutes against Southampton.
The club looked after him with the testimonial and Lees's got him The Crown and Shuttle in Milnrow.
Remember that game, I was sat on the hoarding to left of Rochdale Rd end goal, what a return! I think it may have been the texaco Cup game?

Talking of German football, last week at the Barnet home game, I got talking to the young chap in front of me in the JRS who was over from Germany on a business trip in York, and was flying out from Manchester Airport following day, and who chose to come and watch Latics for his first experience of proper English football. He was a Kaiserlauten fan and shared some of his similar fan experiences. At least we won!
-
He was simply entertaining ,and as kids we were always chatting before the game as to what he would do to the defenders,
These days he would be a you tube sensation, toktiking away I'm sure.

I'll start to think that when we win the play-off final at Wembley with a last-minute volley...at THAT end!

MM has said that he’d like to play a midfield 2 once he has a pair that works, and he’s said that he wants more in wide areas. Would be lovely to see 2 wingers in there, like the old days of Holden and Adams!
Or even Groves and McVitie?

Did it piss it down on them in that open end Rocky back then, if it was the same game they scored the 3 goals in the last 5 minutes iirc. To be fair Plymouth always travelled well despite how they were playing.
I think they were 2-1 up, thanks to bloody keith edwards, then we moved to a 4-2 lead , but they gave us a good game as we were
top of the table

It was "Mad Friday" too, so even harder yakka. Was my first night game.
What a game though, 5-3 from memory, and we possibly scored before my mates had even taken their seats in the back of the Lookers.

John Hurst oozed class and was a fixture in our defence, during our second division days, when I regularly was able to go to Latics and stand/hang on to the perimiter wall in the old Rochdale Road end.
Happy days, and great memories.
RIP John

If we signed Jermaine Darlington to play alongside Stockton, it might just keep our promotion push on the right track.
All aboard the promotion train...

Yeah this is what I took from it, implying they will be real quality signings and said there would be a few of them.Stockton and Norwood (while I’m not sure how well it would/will work) is a frightening partnership for the NL if that was to come off. Half of L1 would take that as their forward line.
I’m sure a couple of players will end up leaving to free up at least some of the wage budget.
Exciting times though.
I do get the sense that this manager is believable, and not just parroting a script. Time will tell, but at least we will know in next week or so.
Looking forward to some fresher faces in the squad, playing higher up the pitch with the ball And controlling possession at home.

They usually do midweek games and International weekends.
Dunno what made me check this weekend - possibly because it's FA Cup. Looks like it's on though, so bonus!
Yes, it was on last year, too, when we won 5-1, must be cos efl top tier are not playing league games ?

Anyone know why Forest have Mull of Kintyre?
Probably relates to their league title winning year 1978, as the single was no1 late 77, early 78?

If he carries on at current pace of around 50 miles per day he’ll be at the halfpoint in 1 week. Unbelievable effort, what a hero.
I wish some of our midfielders could put that sort of shift in .
Hats off to Frank, truly a leader to gain inspiration from.

Contrast that with the passion that the team of 73/74 spoke with last Friday.
They were proud to have been part of an Oldham team on the rise and played for each other.
Above all they played as a team, small squad to choose from, and a defined style of play.
