  1. How can I support a club I no longer feel an affinity to? I don't even check the scores anymore, rarely use the website. If I do want any info I get it off this site, mainly because the official site is bloody useless. I don't even cast a whimsical eye at the ground whenever I drive past anymore. Why should I give a :censored: when the club don't seem to give a :censored: about the hard working, long suffering fans? The glory years are gone, I get that. I know Latics will only ever be a mediocre mid table league 1 team. For me, there seems to be acomplete lack of ambition from anyone at the club, board, management and players. So what if I come across as a moaning old fart? I'm not the only one who thinks like this!!!!!
  2. Hahaha, not exactly the response I was hoping for but you have lightened my mood. Anyhoo, there's already plenty of options re-seating at present. Maybe Icould sit on the little bench in front of main stand paddock?
  3. Ok, 10 months ago the following post would've been unthinkable and would have made my blood run cold! But first, a little background info..... I first became aware of Oldham athletics existence back in '77/'78 when I was 6 or 7 years old. Every Saturday afternoon at around 4.45pm my dad would put Grandstand on for the vidiprinter. Without fail he'd say, "Lets see who's beaten Latics today then!", I never found out if he was being sarcastic or not. A couple of years later we moved house and I could see the glow of the floodlights and hear the roar of the crowd. Me and a few mates went down and managed to get in when the gates were opened 10 minutes before the final whistle. The atmosphere was electric and the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. As we got older we bought tickets and I remember buying my first shirt with my first wage. Of course I was ridiculed at school for supporting the (only TRUE) Latics and not Citeh, Scousepool or Scum. I witnessed promotion to the old First Division, founder membership of the Premier League, Wembley finals, Wembley semi-finals THE great escape. Yes we were relegated from the Prem but I still kept the faith. Another relegation but the faith was still strong. Sure I stopped going for a few years due to having a young family but I came back, even buying my kids season tickets in the Lookers. We came to the survival game and gave what we could afford and bought the DVD. I remember a signing session in the Spindles and my daughter being distraught because she couldn't get her photo taken with Stefan Stam. The club found out about this and offered us a tour and photos. Happy days. The faith was a strong as ever. I have even been privileged to work for the club in recent years. However I have been slowly losing the faith for the last few years. The constant changing of playing staff, inept/unproven/cheap manager after manger, ridiculous boardroom appointments, media attention for all the wrong reasons, tactical ineptitude during matches and the (perceived) complete lack of passion on the pitch have finally made me lose the faith. There are many other things I could mention regarding my current lack of interest in Latics but I don't want to bore you all. As a final point, I couldn't really care less whether we are in League 1, 2 Conference or Evo-Stik North. So, at the end of this long winded moan, my request is simple........ SOMEONE PLEASE CONVINCE ME THAT ALL IS NOT LOST, RESTORE MY FAITH, GIVE ME (and all the other lapsed/stay away fans) A REASON TO COME BACK NEXT SEASON!!
  4. pcassist, I echo your sentiments completely! You should post/email your original post to the club and see if it elicits a response. I started watching 30 odd years ago (probably shouldn't admit to it on here but used to sneak in through a gap at the back of the Chaddy). I, too, have been an ST along with both my kids and a pay-on-the-dayer when finances became stretched and an ST was a luxury. I willingly gave what I could afford at the Survival Match and bought the DVD when it was released. In recent years I have even been privileged enough to work for the club on matchdays. The euphoria of promotion to the old First Division, founder membership of the Premier League and trips to Wembley are but a distant memory. The heartbreak of two relegations, the false dawns of two play off appearances, my son only ever seeing us play in League 1 and occasional "giant killing" in the FA Cup have finally taken their toll on me. I no longer feel any connection with the club and I don't know where this comes from? Is it the constant changing of playing personnel, changes in management, car crash media coverage, the boards inability to keep fans informed, the appointment of moronic directors or the lack of tactical nouse during matches (or all of the above)? Whatever the reasons are my love affair with Oldham Athletic AFC is dying a slow and painful death!
  5. Pay on the day to my knowledge, there's details on Chron website
  6. Not necessarily, might be to give him some proper game time, it's only for an initial month. Perhaps Dingle can't guaranty him enough minutes?
  7. It's not that bad, not usually too much disruption............ Oh, you mean move the post! Oops , haha
  8. Not across my bloody drive, haha! You'll be able park anywhere just off Elm Road or bottom end of Whitebank (down near Coal Pit lane). Very limited parking at the "stadium". Double yellows down one side of Elm tho so arrive early
  9. £14 adults, £12 concessions n £3 (I think) under 16s. If you're going don't block my bloody drive!!!!!!
  10. Re: Redfearn, has he reached an agreement with Leeds over his, Erm, dismissal? Would've thought if he was in frame for Dumbcaster job or ours he'd be signed up by now as he is "unemployed".
  11. Can we please stop living in the past? Why are people so determined to bring back Dowie, Sheridan, Ritchie et al? The removal of Kelly is the chance for a new start and although I'm not particularly enamoured with the appointment of a Dingle he is the interim boss. If he does well he'll be given job til end of season and maybe beyond. Harping on past glories will not get us out of this dire division. As a final point I don't think there's enough money in the club to, firstly, employ them and secondly to entice the players they'd want to sign. For once lets just back the bloody manager, coaching staff and players!!!
