This sums it up for me, it is possible to admire him but have reservations about some parts of his game and that's where I'm at.

He stands out for me because his weakness kills us but on the flip side he's the strongest runner, fiercest tackler and is as game as they come but in that area of the pitch I'd rather be looking after the football than looking for it.

He can play almost any position on the pitch in a defensive role so on that basis you'd keep him but if he's playing centrally in midfield he needs ballers around him who he can do the donkey work for.

There's better out there though, we need a Matty Palmer or Alfie McCalmont type who we can play through and that for me has to be the priority as well as wide men to complement Green and I'm talking about players like Kanu and Sinclair at Dale, solid consistent wide men are a must in NL and you probably need 3 or 4 in the squad.

Defensive frailties are obvious and you could argue the defence needs a complete overhaul, by my reckoning we probably need eight new players to push on up.

At last you've mentioned the real problem.....

Don't care who you have in midfield if you have no width you have no options.

Get some pace out wide and 2 decent overlapping full backs and Sheron will do just fine winning the ball and/or moving it on to a Conlon or Lundy or passing a simple ball out wide himself.

Our only decent option out wide is Green.

Fact is we've won 2 out of our last 12......Green started in both these games.

We've not won in 8 which corresponds with Green getting injured against Southend and not playing since..

It's not rocket science where the bigger problem lies and why we have fucked up was a good position after winning at Eastleigh....no width or pace and we are too narrow and predictable.

Think we would have been fighting against relegation instead of being on the cusp of the playoffs without Mellon . You've clearly forgotten how bad it was under D.U.

    Nope not forgotten at all.

Fact is he took over when we were 3 points off a play off place, he was given a budget to improve us and he simply hasn't.

Just look at today's line up!

It's fucking all Unsworths side bar Dallas who hasn't scored yet!!

    No improvement whatsoever!

    You couldn't make it up.....

Were not though, as pissed off as we are we really need some perspective on this. He has come in and was up to 1.8 PPG at one point (now slipped to 1.52). The narrative that "he took over 3 point from the playoffs and now were not" doesn't hold up, easier to be near the playoffs in 15 games in than 42.

Disappointing but still an improved season.

You can try and dress it up as much as you want but the facts remain.

As you say he came in and we were 3 points off the playoffs.

We've won 1 in 10 and are now 9th 4 points adrift as it stands and likely to be further behind come 5pm.

Sorry he's failed this season in my eyes big time.

  4. Fact is we are pretty much where we were when he took over.

So 30 games in, it's clear to me he has not improved us as a team, his signings have been questionable at best based on their performance, and I can't think of any individuals who I can say have got better since his appointment. In fact it could be argued that we have gone backwards.

Needs to change quickly next season and he has lots to prove in my eyes...

    Where the fuck is Sachdev?

    No forwards on the bench?

And is Hallam Hope the best we can do?

Mellon has picked only Conlan and the Dallas from who he has signed, in his matchday 16.

Is it me or is anyone else really struggling with him, his selections and his tactics at the moment.

    Hope he/they prove me wrong🙏

Just about to set off for the full matchday experience.

Going to get drenched walking to tram. Dry off a bit in Manchester.

Going to get drenched getting to Altrincham. Dry off a bit in Altrincham.

Going to get drenched walking to the ground. Going to get even more drenched watching the match.

Please Latics make my attempt to get the flu worthwhile!!!!

I made the call after Fridays shit show to bin my ticket and the 450+ mile round trip, and will watch the game today from the comfort of my front room with a beer or 2.

Fair play to the blue army who will get pissed wet through on that open terrace.

Just hope the players appreciate the support and put in a 90 minute shift.

Hopefully a few changes with Sanchdev, Raglan, Lundy and Sutton getting a chance to show they can be better than some of the wasters over the past few games.

They will know it's shit or bust today with only 3 points an acceptable result if we want to give ourselves any hope of making the playoffs, so come on you blues and show some pride in the shirt 💙

Do we think a poor performance/heavy loss will have repercussions for Mellon….the board can’t be happy the way things are going?

Depends on how poor I think.

If it goes the same way as Aldershot, Fylde then there has to be some sort of reaction, as this season will be done if it's not done already.....

It needs work yes, but there’s to many times under Mellon where they’re all awful, not poor, absolutely awful. When the entire team is repeatedly shit, and many of them have played higher it goes beyond the players.

    Mellon is taking us backwards.

We used 6 players who were 30 yrs plus today, and another 3 who were 28.

We need some youth and energy and what we have he rarely plays.

Where is Sachdev? Why not give Sutton a go at centre back?

Our strikers combined age was 68.....says it all.....

  9. He's just underperformed unfortunately with both the players he has inherited, some of who should be easily good enough to get us into the top 7 in this league, and his signings have failed to impress or make us better.

His win ratio with us is worse than any club he has managed bar Dundee so something isn't right.

Is DR in charge of signings? I don’t think he is. We’ve employed a coaching team and a scouting team with a head of recruitment.

Just because he’s introduced a stats based element to the process doesn’t mean he’s running around choosing players like Bazza and Mo.

Agreed but he's decided on Rhino and Mellon being the best managers to get us out of this league, which have failed..... and sanctioned the signings and money spent.

It seems the whole message board have seen we have needed a more creative midfield, and some energetic youth, speed and width for 2 years, yet we have done fuck all to address this.

It's either DR or MMs fault so which is it??

He’s on a 3 year deal, I can confirm he won’t be going anywhere anytime soon.

Anyone who has seen the accounts will understand the money in the pot isn’t endless.

On a different note, should we not be asking questions to the current board who have overseen this shit

show. I’m not talking about the Rothwell’s either.

Whilst I agree MM will be here next season, and DR needs explain why after considerable squad and management investment we are still shit, the accounts make no difference in this league and the pot can indeed be endless!

If the owners/investors wants to invest more money and piss it away in the NL... they can without penalty.

If they haven't got any more that's different and more worrying......
