  1. Robinson- ‘the quality of Oldham’s players for this division is unbelievable. The players are very capable, the big question is- why aren’t they playing to their maximum . . ?
  2. Good post Josh. Your first two paragraphs in particular are spot on. Mellons decisions have become more and more inexplicable.
  3. How utterly and predictably depressing. Think we all need a few months doing something else.
  4. It’s not all the manager- no. As I said the players must have some professional pride, and I agree with you that he can’t run and tackle for them. But we see it time and again at football clubs when collectively all the players look lost. I don’t think they’re ignoring him, I just think it’s blatantly obvious they have no belief in what they’re being asked to do.
  5. Because we have a manager who does the following. Drops players inexplicably after a good game. Picks players who aren’t in form because they are ‘leaders’ Massively over rotates and doesn’t let partnership’s build. Is more concerned with not conceding than first rather than scoring the first goal. Plays players needlessly out of position when he has others who can play the position naturally. Wont play any youth players to bring some energy or zip. The players need take some responsibility- no question. But ultimately you can’t sack 25 players. .
  6. Give over . . . a lot of them were coups at the time of signing. Or the fans were very pleased with their pedigree. Has every single player suddenly become shit since signing for Oldham? I think not.
  7. I am not having that 11 players of different combinations can all be so poor at the same time. They are not shit players. Teams reflect their manager.
  8. When your manager says on TV - we must get something from this game. Doesn’t that inspire confidence or fear?
  9. Aye, they need to have some professional pride. But we see it time and again with players, they just chuck it in when they don’t wanna play for the manager. But as you say, rightly or wrongly there’s one man who is ultimately responsible.
  10. I agree. This isn’t a ‘not at the races’ It’s - we’re not in any way going to do it for Mellon.
  11. Forget the goal. We’ve got far bigger issues. No urgency, no tempo, no pattern, players walking, no running off the ball.
  12. Something is seriously wrong here. We’re playing like it’s a testimonial. I genuinely thinks he lost the players.
  13. The commentators. I think their fans would their team to be a bit bolder, and you look at the players Oldham have they do set up very defensively. Sigh.
  14. Lads- this Is Rhinoball mark 2. It’s just must not lose.
  15. Mmmmm. Players playing different positions again, no partnerships being built. . .
  16. Feel the exact same Joe. They might scrape a win today, but they’ll only throw in a stinker in the next game. Season over.
  17. This was true for a while. But the only decent performance in the last 6 was Chesterfield. Bar that it’s average or horror show. Still, hope you’re right.
  18. Says the man whose talking to himself. You have to be a parody account, it’s comedy gold.
  19. For someone who loves to claim they get bullied, you’re very aggressive.
  20. Agreed. Any crowd at any football club reflect what they see. Start well- crowd is up. Start badly- crowd is on their back. I think a lot of managers do it, particularly when they’re struggling- which is why it’s never a good sign.
  21. If it’s not tactics then by definition they are definitely ignoring him. Otherwise there is no way to explain their complete and utter non football. Agreed. Direct football is fine if you can see our runners when we get possession and we hit long diagonals or we play our best target man (Fondop) but our direct play is all high through the middle to players who aren’t target men, it has no pattern- it’s literally just smack it. So if Mellon isn’t a passing style manager and his direct style is descending into chaos- what are we? You keep mentioning a plan- but for me that’s the whole point, we don’t have an identity. For a manager of his calibre I was expecting to see a Micky Mellon side by now- instead we’re seeing non football.
