We were well beaten - Iversen kept us in the game!  Hence him being given Man of the Match!

I don't know who does the stats, but other than the goal, Vera's miss and (if it was a shot) Hunt's effort near the end I can't think of any other shots we had on target.

Baxter forced keeper into close range save, just got something on it from Cogs knockdown, Cogs free header, Vera should definitely have scored plus we could have had at least one penalty when Clarke got dragged down from two corners

im not saving we deserved to win but at the same time I think “well beaten” is stretching it as well

As for MOM awards, they are given by sponsors who have had a few to drink more often than not and not really to be taken too seriously, often a player can do nothing all game, score a goal and then gets MOM!

    Agreed on all fronts.

People are confusing criticism with wanting him sacked.

I know we don't have the right to beat anyone anymore (an attitude which seems to mean it's OK to lose every game..), but we've just been well beaten at home to Morecambe.  Fecking Morecambe!!!

Whichever way you want to dress it - that's bad.

We were beaten but I’m not sure “well beaten”

We had 12 shots they had 13 but both teams had 6 shots on target. We had 57% possession to their 43% and we had 9 corners to their 2 and their winner came in injury time so I accept we were beaten but not well beaten

  3. That was not great tonight sadly, too many players not at the races.

i don’t think it’s fair to blame Scholes though so soon, he’s been in the club 7 days and wasn’t responsible for signing any of these players and he’s had barely any time to work with the squad so I think blaming him is an over reaction. We don’t know what goes on behind closed doors other than Hamer and Lang not fit to play.

I agree with others about the loan signings that haven’t been seen, it seems strange to sign two players, pay whatever towards their wages when they aren’t fit to play, surely it would have made more sense to sign players on loan who are ready to play?

Baxter is now starting to show the form he is capable of, not just the goal but he always wants the ball and tries to link the play up and he was my MOM by a mile. Branger is just a selfish player who plays for himself and I think the fact that Nepo has been moved about a lot recently has seen him lose the confidence and rhythm that he had earlier in the season. The left back slot seems to be the issue slot, though again earlier in the season when Hunt was playing there regularly he was quite effective.

Urko Vera is miles off it, not sure what league he came from but it can’t of been a very high standard.

  4. I enjoyed that! Not maybe the style of football from Yeovil but just the result, the Oldham goals, the feeling around the ground.

I thought Iversen did well on crosses, something some fans say he’s not good at, I thought Clarke and Edmundson didn’t give Fisher much space. Missilou again shows how hard he works and covers so much ground. Mouche didn’t seem very influential tonight.

Baxter took his goal well and always wanted the ball and Dearnley looked lively. Branger although not everybody’s cup of tea showed numerous good pieces of play but can still frustrate but perhaps is gaining confidence the more he plays.

if we can just get positive results against Crewe and Morecambe, then who knows, maybe we can make the play offs?

I don’t want the manager to have complete control of transfer dealings. No way.  Nor should anyone else with the club at heart. Managers are more transient than players. It make no sense. I thought almost all clubs had woken up to this by now?

its too much owner based at the moment though, that is my concern. I’m not saying a manager should get everything his own way but he should have a very big say in who comes in and who goes out as it’s his neck on the line, his team to pick and work with and his reputation that’s judged.

I agree and I suspect part of any Scholes deal will include a joint agreement with regards to future transfers. It's okay a chairman having an input along with a Sporting Director but they have to start trusting people to do their jobs otherwise he might as well as appoint himself as manager.

Im still waiting to see owner  in the technical area in a pair of Puma Kings 😂🙈 #FullKitW#@£er

You mean players like Menig with pedigree? Who was on a reported 11k a week but you'd begrudge paying one of the highest profile ex-players in the country the going rate?

Part of the problem this club has had particularly in our relegation season was the tail wagging the dog, players on 5, 6, 8 or 10k holding all the power, controlling the dressing room and dictating which direction the club goes in, all whilst a succession of managers on £800 a week lose the dressing room, what other walk of life sees the manager on a 10nth of one of his subordinates earn?

I know some of the problems from last season are down to AL's controlling manner something he promised he'd change but the only way I can see an end to some of this behaviour is by appointing a coach of Scholes standing, under this chairman it's the only hope and Scholes has to be given complete control over the playing side of the club if we've got any chance of moving forward.

Even if he gives him complete control of picking the team I would be amazed if he allows him complete control of transfer dealings. The transfers seem to come from him, his players, often foreign ones.

    Maybe he is :)

I'd like to think Scholes has already put wheels in motion with Lemsagam regards to any signings he wants. This is an important week for us.

Do you honestly think he will make any signings before the window closes or back a manager with signings that aren’t his?

  9. Not really sure that was a penalty

Thought the team showed good heart

    Iversen/Clarke MOM

    Support superb

    Owner picking the team 100%

We desperately need Nepo back playing left hand side attacking, he is a real threat and has a host of assists.

Wont have a new manager before the transfer window closes, not a chance, owner won’t do it, will let things drift, won’t want to bring in new signings that a manager might want.

Worried about Tuesday,  yes MK are not in the best of form but with Clarke suspended, lack of goals I am worried

  10. It might sound a little “Chinese Whispers” as this is from my son who it turns out knows a former employee of the club who still has contacts and info there so I apologise if this is not true so don’t hold me to it, but....

There are a number of players the powers that be want out, Duffus, Coke, Fane, completely frozen out of first team setup, train with the kids and Taylor and Hunt they also want out so unlikely they will start for the first team again. Branger is a favourite and since Bunn gone there is an insistence he plays, apparently he was one of the ones where Bunn stood his ground which ultimately cost him his job. To get Branger in the team, they are keen to play Nepo as a left back. Not sure if owner is back in the country, maybe tomorrow morning in time for the game. Clarke definitely not interested in the managers job. New manager unlikely to be appointed until after the transfer window closes.

As as I say, it’s a little bit Chinese whispers so apologies if I’m wrong. Don’t know when my son will see this person again, so I might have to wait for the next instalment!

Scholes and AL have been/still are in negotiations. The stumbling block for AL is he wants too much influence in recruiting players. The stumbling block for Scholes is this is totally

    Unexeptable.

With our three latest short term, jobing acquisitions it seems clear that a serious push for promotion this term is not on the cards.

With the next manager still up in the air it is hard to imagine any quality targets are lined up waiting.

If any realistic applicant for the job was going create a meaningful increase in ST sales it must surely be Scholes.

With AL continually scratching about for ‘generally’ underwhelmingly, ordinary players it time for him to grasp the reality of where a player fund is going to come from.

Off course it is football and disasterishly difficult.

I often ask myself ‘how easy did he think it would be’.

I will be utterly amazed if Paul Scholes becomes manager at Oldham under the current regime. For his first job he needs to be able to do things his way and succeed or fail based on his own decisions, be that recruitment, team selection or tactics.

This is not a John Askey or someone similar, desperate for a way back into the game, this is a man who is financially secure, has other things going on in his life but would like to get involved as a manager or coach. This puts him in a position where he can afford to be more selective about what job he takes.

Therefore and perhaps i will be proved wrong, I think he knows it wouldn’t be workable with the budgets involved for players and how active the owner and his brother are in transfers and selections.

i personally think that the fact Bunn was sacked at the end of December and we are nearly at the end of January and the transfer window and there is no permanent manager in place and only a week to go till the window closes, the owner won’t want to appoint before then, or if he does it will be a day or so before the end of the window. A new manager will clearly want a few of his own players in which clearly won’t sit well financially or if it means players the owner has signed not getting in the side.

Just my opinion, I guess we will see how it pans out.....

Scholes and his son were telling people on Saturday it was done. Someone who works at Latics said it was going to be completed this week. But then last night, his son said it was off, which is when I posted it on here. So the truth is I haven't got a bloody clue...

Did his son give a reason for the turnaround and it being off?

  13. I think that it’s a managers neck on the block, he who has to front the media and explain his decisions, also take the stick from the fans when or if it goes wrong so the manager should get to sign and pick the players and live or die by his decisions. It’s black and white then, whereas if players are signed above his head or players picked not by him, who should front up to the media and fans? Grey area then for me.

i get the fact often it’s the club owners money but still, if you appoint a manager you should trust that manager to make the right decisions, if you don’t, then perhaps it’s you at fault not getting the manager right in the first place

Of course we can discuss, I just had a suspicion you may be part of the new setup with your knowledge of our current structure,  for instance not many fans to my knowledge would be aware that Millington is helping out at the moment.

Lol don’t think my body or mind is up to professional coaching so no I’m not part of the coaching setup but I am a keen surfer of the internet and it’s not hard to find who does what jobs, has various qualifications. Millington is listed on the club website as head of coach development in the academy and can be seen in interviews with Wild from Youth team so I didn’t need to be Sherlock to work that one out so I’m not really sure why you should be suspicious of me. Like I said all I’ve done is air some views  but judging by the tone of the response I’m getting on here, perhaps I’ll keep my views to myself from now on and just keep surfing
