JohnnyPimp
I'm bored so I've taken a look at our current squad and made my guesses at what it will look like going into the new season. I've gone for 5 new signings (4 or 5 are expected according to Mark Crossley's recent LW interview) and by the way, I do expect Shez to be in charge of this lot. Feel free to agree, disagree or call this exercise sad and pointless. Goalkeepers Mark Crossley (Under contract) Crossley Understudy (New) Josh Bell (Will be offered a 1-year contract) Defenders Kelvin Lomax (Under contract) Left Back (New) Reuben Hazell (Under contract) Stefan Stam (Will be offered a 1-year contract) Sean Gregan (Under contract) Michael Pearson (Will be offered a 1-year contract) Paul Black (Under contract) Midfielders Mark Allott (Under contract) Left Winger (New) Playmaker (New - Fabian Yantorno?) Gary McDonald (Will be offered a 1-year contract) Chris Taylor (Under contract) Aaron Chalmers (2nd year of scholarship) Ashley Kelly (Will be offered a 1-year contract) Strikers Lee Hughes (Under contract) Craig Davies (Under contract) Lewis Allesandra (Will be offered a 2-year contract) Target Man (New) Deane Smalley (Will be offered a 2-year contract) Matt Wolfenden (Under contract) Leavers Josh Ollerenshaw (Not offered a contract) Neil Eardley (Will move up the league for £500k plus extras) John Thompson (Allowed a fresh start elsewhere) Jason Jarrett (Loan) (Will sign for his 27th club) J P Kalala (Will move back south where it's warmer) Andy Liddell (May keep on reduced basic & appearance-based bonuses, but doubt it) Leon Constantine (Loan) (Will move to another League One club)

Thompson & Kalala can go if we can get better backup players in. The rest of it I agree with.

Butter
Looking at that I'm worried. Very very weak.
the_mighty_bosh
Yeah Butter you're right, we'll never win the Champions League with that squad. I think you underestimate the standard of this league and the budget we're likely to have.

I think you underestimate the standard of this league and the budget we're likely to have. Dont want Champions League. I want Oldham to form as a country and win the World Cup. The first 11 from that squad is brilliant. We'd just have to be very lucky with injuries. I'm sure we're due some after this season!!! Lordy
Alot of clubs are interested in Taylor apparently would be surprised if he is still with us next season.
BlueJazzer
I heard a rumour (and we all like a good rumour don't we) in the pub today that Taylor is off to Donny for half a mill and we're getting wellard back....
jorvik_latic
Isn't Norms contract up this summer? according to main site it is. .... Will try to sign Constantine but it won't happen, neither will Clarke, maybe Robertson on season loan???? His playing contract is up this year but still has another year in a coaching role. He's stated that he still wants to play next season though. Can see us trying to sign Constantine too and would love it if he signed. I doubt we would pay his wages and see the only chance we'll get him is if Leeds do their usual and pay some of his wages.
mikejh45
Just giving a bit of thought on next season's squad and looking at it purely from the cards-in lads only and who, in my opinion, should stay or go. IN-CONTRACT KEEP Allott, Hughes, Davies, Lomax, Hazell, Taylor, Smalley, Alessandra. UNLOAD Eardley (if somebody is offering money the sell), Kalala (not the great defender we hoped), Thompson (injury prone), Gregan (too old and too slow), Wolfenden (not good enough). OUT-OF-CONTRACT OFFER NEW Crossley, Stam, McDonald RELEASE Liddell (too old and too injury prone) These are just my thoughts, so let's keep it seasonal. KEEP THE FAITH

KEEP THE FAITH technically there shouldnt be a need for massive re-enforcements. myself personally would release kalalal, thompson, wolfy would offer rolling contracts with maybe coaching roles to greegan and liddell, there experience will benefit young players coming through. we need a new keeper, and an out and out left winger and another striker, with another creative midfield player(wellens type) if we did recieve silly offers for taylor or eardly, then i would be tempted to cash in and get replacements in. next season we cant have injuries like this season,so should have cover

KEEP THE FAITH Agreed except for the ridiculous suggestion of releasing Gregan. Im a big fan of his but surely even those who arent would only release him to free up his wage, not because he is 'too old and too slow'! Absolute rubbish....should we sign Dwayne Chambers instead?? Also id keep Lids for his quality and experience but only on reduced terms as seems to be the general consensus. Again the 'too old' holds no water - if you are good enough you are young enough. Ask Mr Eyres or even better any of the managers who kept picking him! Lids is good enough and isnt really injury prone in the normal sense. He has had two ops due to wear and tear and we are now told he is as good as new. It isnt like he picks up regular niggling injuries, a la Hughesy, Crossley and Stambo (3 you want to keep). Also id keep Kalala if he is happy as back up - I think this season has shown we need a larger squad so lets keep the 'outs' to Wolfenden and maybe Thompson on top of any sales we cant refuse. Suppose the 'agreed' went out of the window a little! Oh and cheers to Inspiral for diverting meto this thread.
