7. Whitts (I think he's a good enough squad player and worth a place in the squad)

9. Hughes - Yes, but doubt he'll be here

19. Lee - Cant give an assessment, did well at crewe though

25. Lewis - Yes Why isn't he in the side? results show we do well with him in it and we score more goals. Ok his strike rate isn't the best, but his parters improves.

26. Bell - We didn't trust him for one game.

30. Westlake - Too early to judge (not ours though)

Those are the only one's contracted to the club that I dont want to see leave. The rest i'm not overly bothered about losing in the summer. I would of added Maher, but whats the point in him being here if he cant even get a look in over the invisible man danny whit. As for the loanee's, hopefully we sign Jones.

the rest as far as im aware are out of contract. With the exception of hughes whom i would keep, but who will probably leave, i would get rid of the rest and out of the contracted crop, sell eardley for 100k and tell whitaker to find another club. The others offer us some hope of a decent base next year.

 

At least the good thing is that go up or not, almost all are out of contract, giving joe or jim gannon a chance to overhaul things.

 

Keeping the faith for a win at cheltenham, no win then season all but over sad to say.

My only concern is having the 5 of Allott, Whits, Westlake, Maher and Lee and none have clicked into a solid, consistent partnership. Ok...some have tried. But the point is, I've said I'd not let any go but then, we can't keep all 5 and then add to it. As it stands, Allott would be the one on borrowed time. Been sorely found out this season. Whits has goals in him and needs playing in the right position with a player in form. Not seen enough of a Whits and Maher partnership this season for me. As for Lee, can't say anything about him. Crewe away says nothing...I could've looked good against them! (Ok, maybe not but you get the point.)

I was saying yesterday Allott has been crap for ages, yet no one seemed to agree with me.

For me Whitaker should have stayed on yesterday and Allott replaced by Maher. Cant blame Royle though hes only been working with the players for a matter of days.

 

Only one i'd disagree with on there is Lomax. Get rid. Not good enough for a team wanting to get promotion in my opinion.

 

Unsure about Gregan as well!!

Was going to say the same thing... Only a few months ago we were saying this was the best squad we've had in years. Why we can't produce on a consistent basis is anyone's guess!!

Where would we be without a fair few missed SITTERS at 0-0?

 

If he hadn't been playing then somebody else would have done, and I imagine they would have scored 10/15/20 goals instead. I don't actually believe we are any higher up the table for having him. Don't get me wrong, Hughes is a good player, I rate him highly, but he isn't as good as I once thought he was and we certainly shouldn't be offering to make him our highest paid player......and then presumably looking to build a team around him. The bloke who was worthy of that deal was called Wellens. Sure I'd keep Hughes on a standard Latics wage but I doubt that will be an option.

 

This summer there will be some decent strikers available for £4k a week (which is what he is rumoured to have been offered), especially with all the talk of clubs slashing budgets. And anyway, if ours was to be slashed as much as some doom and gloomers on here seem to think then I wouldnt be paying anybody £4k a week, I'd sort the midfield out and crack on with O'Grady, Alless and a Kabba type long term loanee.
