Chris Taylor IS a left midfielder. What else do you think he is, a binman? A tax consultant? He's played that position far more than any other, second top scorer this season, in the divisional team of the season, Everton and Villa in a fight to sign him as captain. Clearly he is being wasted.

He undoubtedly has ability, and that is why he is able to play there and do well im not disputing that. However how many times is he forced to cut inside on his stronger foot? How many crosses been wasted at the by line because he couldnt cross it with his left? If you asked him where his strongest position was im certain of what he would say.

I actually have asked him, and he said he would rather be on the right. He is wrong though. How many goals would he score cutting in onto his left foot? And he can cross well enough with his left when his confidence is high. There aren't many teams playing with out and out wingers these days.

One thing Taylor has improved over the last season is his ability to surprise.

He can get round the back and deliver a cross, or he can cut inside and deliver a goalscoring shot.

There are not many wide players who do this at ANY level.

I remember having a battered old hardback "Stanley Matthews Football Book" as a kid. The right footed Matthews firmly believed his best place was on the left because he could be far more damaging when he drifted inside.

Personally I'd prefer Tommy Rowe on the left and Chris Taylor on the right.
