i agree that there would be a lot of work involved and the easiest thing is to get caterers in to do it but would latics really be worse off finacially doing it themself?

Yes.

All to easily.

For all the reasons given, and a host more.

Those numbers suggest to me most people want the trust to be creating a separate fighting / take over / rainy day / long term fund. Something I have always wanted them to do personally.
