Snookmeister
How unlucky has he been the last couple of games not to get on the scoresheet?? Just watched the highlights on iplayer from yesterday and that was a textbook header at the end - good contact, headed it down, reasonable power - but the keeper pulls off a great save. Same happened against Scunny as well didn't it?? I really want this lad to do well and start bagging. Just seems to gods aren't smiling on him at the moment..... oafc joe
but his overall play against Brentford was utterly awful, didn't hold the ball up at all - we were 100 times better when Simpson came on for him

Lags
I've always said give him the right ammo and he'll bag. He doesn't have the all round game to make it big in football but am sure he does have enough in goals to keep him in the game around our current level. opinions4u
It's all about service. Get it wide and cross it in - he'll get on the end of some. Lump it long and he'll win headers. If nobody runs after it fails, if there are runners we'll get our share of the percentages. Lump it long and leave him isolated? That's the football of idiots. NewBlue
There's really no point in bothering about Smith until Dickov goes because he's not going to get another chance of a full game for a long time with Baxter, Derbyshire and Simpson. If Dickov is still here at the end of the season Smith will be released; not from the fault of himself but the tactics that continued to baffle us all, the 5 minutes here and there approach. He's not the best striker but he's proved in the last few games that if you can get the ball onto his head in the box he will make the keeper work, refine him a little bit and he might even get a few goals from these crosses provided by Montano and Croft. I just hope that we don't revert to Simpson being our big man up top and continue to leave out Smith if we go for that system. To utilise Smith effectively you need a small striker alongside him and 2 quality wingers who are willing to produce accurate crosses regularly. We actually have that option with Derbyshire being the little man and Montano and Croft being the wingers. We have the players to play a number of different ways, we just lack something else, whether it be tactics, inspiration or formation. Smith could still be a real asset.
