LaticsSideOfLife
Just back from the game. In all honesty it was a dull affaird ending 0-0 with Carl Winchester being sent off for swearing at the ref. Here is the player ratings IMO.. Alex Cisak - Made two good saves but largley untroubled throughout. Plenty of talking. Joe Cooper - Was good on the ball and solid. Made plenty of over lapping runs. Ben Parker (Trialist) - Looked ok. Did plenty of runningand made some good tackles. Glenn Belezika(Captain) - Did brilliantly. Won every ball in the air and was composed on the ball. My motm. Cliff Byrne- Was solid, did plenty of talking. Still lacking fitness. David Mellor - Controled the midfield well and picked out to good passes.Crossing was poor. Connor Hughes - Did well down the wing causing their defenders plenty of problems. Carl Winchester - Did well with movement and passing. Had a good game until the sending off. Dan Taylor - Looked a little light weight but effort was there. Bobby Ried - Did a lot of running into space but never got the right service. Tried a little too much at times. Cristian Montano - Attacked the defenders giving them problems but lacked match fitness which was understandable. Great speaking to Gary and his partner and a few other's there. Roll on Swindon. BP1960
Copied from the other threads; Had a look at Reid in the first half of this afternoons reserve game and although he showed a few tricks on the ball I wondered if physically he will be suited to the hurly burly of Division One football. He's quite neat and tidy on the ball with good close control, but some of his distribution was wayward, maybe that was down to a lively ball and a bitterly cold wind as many others seemed to be affected. Very impressed with centre back Glenn Belezika who was a man mountain alongside the steady Cliff Byrne. Montano was ok in fits and starts, the rest just average. Half time score; 0-0, had enough went home. PS; Trialist left back Ben Parker looked ok, quite composed and can pick a pass, need to see more of him though. Full time score; 0-0. Ross2509
Werent we linked with Ben Parker coming but he turned us down and was then released? With Corney and Dickov annoyed at how footballers like him aren't bothered about actually playing football. If it is the same player I think it is, the one that was at Leeds? Then he's awful, seen him a couple of times and wasnt great at all. Maybe he is more suited at this level though! Wouldn't put him ahead of Grounds but possibly may go into the team ahead of Connor Brown
BP1960
I think it was Bill Shankly who said when scouts reported players as ok. "he's neh good to me then".
Markspark92
Ben Parker was the player who rejected us last season to come here on loan from Leeds, Corney and Dickov both slammed this player for having an awful attitude surprise we've give him a trial poor attitude no thanks
