Postman Matt Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Why do teams especially us always seem to make new additions to the squad on Friday's? This is one thing that's always made me wonder, because if you train all week in preparation for Saturday's game, from Wednesday on purely with the next game in mind more intensely on tactics etc etc surely you would want these new signings training with his new team and not just a 2/3 session on a Friday morning which sometimes acts more as a meet and greet if there is a long distance away game. Is it a money factor? Pro-rata of first weeks wage, signing on fee etc etc Desperation Factor? Not happy with squad through the week Reason i ask is we all know new signings are likely to come in this week and they are nailed on to be announced on Friday around dinnertime. Its just one of those things in football thats always intrigued me. Quote
OAFCMIKE Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Because they want the opposition to have as little time as possible to prepare for the new man, Bourney. Quote
rudemedic Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 With loans, it is best to wait as long as possible to sign a player. If you sign a player on a Wednesday to play on the Saturday that means his 93 day loan runs out on a Friday. Quote
Gaz_Oafc Posted January 8, 2014 Posted January 8, 2014 Wouldn't surprise me if the players would already be training with us earlier in the week although not made official until the Friday for reasons stated above. Quote
