Where are you at Boundary Park?

I never cease to be amazed - people putting money into the Club by buying a ST, but not going to BP! They should be applauded, and their number should be borne in mind when looking at attendance figures. Perhaps they do it to guarantee first choice of tickets for Fleetwood, Liverpool, Everton, etc.

They go, but if United/City are at home the same day, they often, but not always, go there instead

It's a mixture of price and results. It is for every club. Cheap tickets doesn't guarantee large numbers. Hartlepool United replicated Bradford City and Huddersfield Town a number of years ago and set season tickets at £100. The early home league fixtures attracted 6,000+ attendances but they struggled that season and come the end of it the attendances were down to 3,500-4,000. Supporters want positive results and we always have, but tickets have to be cheaper across England.

Sky Sports certainly doesn't help, especially for a club like Oldham. The aggressive marketing of the whole thing promises to turn locals' attention to Manchester. The likes of Tranmere and Hartlepool struggle for this season and is why they, along with Accrington Stanley etc, have tried Friday fixtures.

Too many are in a trance when it comes to the Premier League and Sky. We buy into the whole "promised land" and "best league in the world" nonsense. It's marketed, corporate bollocks. The Premier League bully the Football League on every issue. Attendances are down throughout the Football League and it's all because of the Premier League. Unfortunately those who are fiercely anti-EPL are in a minority and their voices aren't really heard.

To answer the question: win promotion.

The downward spiral accelerated when the Ford Stand was demolished.

The demolition resulted in a loss of pride and atmosphere in the stadium.

This in turn reduced pride/enthusiasm in the work place for players and attracting them.

Together with a lack of luck with managers unable to respond with a declining budget.

To compound this Corney suffered a combination of bad judgment - a financial crash - bad luck - the royal run around by third parties, in an attempt to redevelop or relocate.

All resulting in the most dismal run of home entertainment and results most of us can remember.

THINGS ARE SLOWLY CHANGING

And for the better in what looks spookily like reverse order.

Home form is improving along with entertainment value.

It looks like Corney has had some luck with a manager as rooky Lee Johnson has found is feet and assembled (on a tight budget) an entertaining, crowd pleasing squad, who are actually performing at home.

A impressive new stand is rising to fill the ugly hole we have been looking at for 6yrs or so. Forming the image of a forward looking club necessary to attract a the more ambitious players.

I have every confidence that our fortunes are about to change and if we can remain in the top ten until January our crowds will increase encouragingly with a run of big game, big club matches on the horizon.

We have a manager who loves to stick his face in front of the camera. Who, seems able to sell a player for a profit and replace him effortlessly. Who, I would like to believe is on a mission to build something out of nothing just to prove his point. On this last point I am reminded his confidence to build a winning team on the budget set and the players he could identify on the market at his interview.

If our luck with the manager holds we will see attendances rise soon enough. Patience is something us lot should have in abundance.

Also, the effect of new stand 'actually opening' should not be underestimated in creating a boost in interest in fans coming back to BP.

They obviously want to give Latics some money, not like the rest of us giving our money only to Rochdale on this occasion.

Some of us are giving more money to the businesses of the borough where we pay council tax than we are to the football club of that same borough.

The money saved on council tax can go back to the club, all 4p of it.
