Just been listening to R4Extra (excellent station of classic comedy and drama) and a Goons show from Nov 1954 was on. It's the episode when "the lergy" hits Oldham and Boundary Park gets a mention. as do Werneth Fire Station and Oldham Royal. Eric Sykes was a writer at the time so I guess it owes a lot to him.
